Infinite Train Survival Apocalypse (But I'm a Girl Now?!)
Chapter 33: Carriage Reward
I already have a steam engine! Don’t give me another one, damn it!!
The message lagged for a full minute before the rest of the notifications finally popped up.
[Your completion progress had been recorded. You have obtained Stea... Standard Carriage ×1!]
[Your spoils are being automatically calculated...]
[You have obtained: Coal ×128, Charcoal ×250, Fine Wood ×31, Canned Meat ×22, Expired Canned Meat ×45, Boar Meat ×40, Rotten Boar Meat ×9, Iron Hammer ×10, Riding Saddle ×10, Underwear ×6, ..., Infinite Coin ×20, Damaged Train Core (1/5).]
[You may freely choose which items to discard!]
Seeing the follow-up messages, Bai Cheng finally let out a sigh of relief. "Thank goodness it’s not a steam engine..."
As for why the system had lagged, it was probably because it hadn’t expected her to upgrade the rail cart ahead of schedule.
But this worked out perfectly. The cramped locomotive had long made Bai Cheng wish for an extra carriage. She just hadn’t had the opportunity until now.
"This reward is exactly what I wanted!" she said, her face lighting up with joy.
As for the other spoils she had obtained, Bai Cheng was genuinely surprised.
"What the hell is all this? Since when is underwear considered loot?"
But considering the Infinite Raiders’ train, although it was dilapidated, it had three carriages. The system must have tallied up every single item that could be counted as resources.
"Normally, these guys would run away if they couldn’t win, so very few people would ever get their hands on all their supplies."
In other words... did destroying a train mean seizing everything inside?
Bai Cheng didn’t dwell on the question for long. "Anyway, how do I pick what I want to keep?"
The central screen was too high up. She couldn’t even reach it!
She looked around and soon spotted a smaller screen on the wall, identical in function to the one on the train.
The information displayed was exactly the same, and even the minimized menus matched perfectly.
Instead of immediately selecting her loot, Bai Cheng first opened [My Train] and, sure enough, she found a plus sign at the end of the train model.
She tapped it, and a prompt immediately appeared.
[Would you like to add a carriage to your train?]
[Current carriage connection limit: 1]
"Add it!" Bai Cheng decisively clicked[Yes].
The 3D model, which had previously only shown a locomotive, now displayed an additional carriage at the end, roughly the same size as the locomotive.
From the image, Bai Cheng could tell that this carriage was essentially an exact replica of the manual rail cart, just with more space. The walls and ceiling were still made of wooden planks, looking flimsy and crude.
"Of course it still needs upgrading." She sighed and opened the carriage’s detailed information.
[Name: Carriage #1]
[Level: Lv.1]
[Train Core Attributes: None]
[Upgrade Requirements: 0/100 Fine Wood, 0/1 Train Core]
"Another train core? What even is this thing?" Bai Cheng frowned at the upgrade requirements. "Both the train and the carriage need this material to level up."
She remembered obtaining a train core fragment (1/5) after wiping out those Infinite Raiders.
"Does that mean I have to keep killing Infinite Raiders and destroy their trains to upgrade?"
If so, the upgrade path was going to be a pain.
Since she couldn’t inspect these items yet, Bai Cheng assumed that the loot would automatically appear inside the train, saving her the trouble of moving it manually.
Now that she had an extra carriage, she finally had some breathing room. She reopened the loot selection screen and began sorting through her spoils.
She immediately discarded the rotten meat, underwear, expired cans, and other junk, then selected everything else, whether useful or not.
Just then, Chi Yan returned to the platform, dragging a sleazy old man with him.
He tossed the man onto the ground, where he trembled in fear, not daring to move.
But when the old man looked up, the first thing he saw was a pair of slender, pale legs. His gaze traveled upward, and his eyes nearly popped out of his skull at the sight of the graceful, white-haired girl.
Then she turned her head, revealing a flawless face that looked like a work of art.
"A—a woman?! And a schoolgirl at that!" The old man’s excitement was palpable as he lay on the ground, his body reacting in a way that made his intentions disgustingly obvious.
He writhed like a maggot, howling, "Aahh—!"
Bai Cheng’s expression darkened.
Behind the man, Chi Yan raised his foot—
SNAP!
"GYAAAH—!" The man screamed in agony as something snapped.
A mix of red and white fluids spilled onto the ground.
The air filled with the stench of blood and something distinctly... floral.
"Feeling better now?" Bai Cheng crouched in front of him, tilting her head with a mocking smile.
"You... filthy... bus1!" he spat through gritted teeth. "Thousands of people will ride you... Sooner or later, I’ll—"
Before he could finish, Chi Yan kicked him square in the stomach, sending him flying five meters back. He slammed into the wall, coughing up a mouthful of blood.
Although Chi Yan didn’t fully understand the man’s insults, he knew that they were directed at his Young Lady.
Even after holding back, the kick had left the man severely injured.
Now lying half-dead on the ground, he was finally behaving.
Bai Cheng rested her chin on her hand, twirling a strand of her hair as she spoke casually, "Why don’t you tell me about your origins?"
She narrowed her eyes. "Otherwise, I’ll roast you alive~"
The man shuddered, likely recalling how his comrades had died.
"Cough... cough..." He spat more blood, his voice weak. "The journey... only gets harder. You... you’ll end up just like us!"
Pah! He spat out a bloody glob, then burst into manic laughter. "We’re all pawns! None of us can change our fate, you naive bitch!"
Bai Cheng dodged the spit effortlessly, her expression turning icy. "Chi Yan."
"Yes, Young Lady."
As Chi Yan approached, Bai Cheng turned away, no longer interested in the Infinite Raider.
A moment later, a bloodcurdling scream echoed through the empty platform.
"Lunatic," Bai Cheng muttered under her breath before heading off to inspect the other rooms in the station.
Meanwhile, the central screen updated with her ranking after she finalized her loot selection.

[Time Remaining Until Reward Calculation: 40 Hours]
"Forty hours?" Bai Cheng checked the time. It aligned exactly with the end of the safety period’s fifth day.
She didn’t pay it much mind, because something far more interesting had caught her attention.
"A... vending machine?" Bai Cheng eyed the machine, its shelves stocked with all sorts of goods.
Among them, a spherical core-like object immediately stood out.
