Information to Mastery: Points Store System
Chapter 328: Purchasing Serums
There was a moment of silence, as Adrian, despite being surprised by Michael’s question, began seriously thinking about what he had been asked.
This went on for a few seconds, before he finally responded, "If there is an ability that I could acquire, I would prefer an ability that would allow me to be able to think of different things at the same time.
This way, I can be able to handle most of the things here, while making plans for others, which would allow me to be able to save a lot of time."
Initially, Michael had thought that Adrian would want something that would improve his strength. After all, Adrian already knew about mutants.
On the very same day that Brian, Nathan’s son, had revealed to Michael the information about mutants, Michael had informed Adrian about it. This was just to make sure that Adrian would be cautious, in case he was targeted.
After all, when that guy Brian came to look for him, he had the intention of acquiring Sky Technologies. He had tried to use several other methods in order to be able to acquire it, but he failed.
Of course, the methods that he used did not involve a mutant. So, there was not much to worry about at that time.
But of course, it was different now. While it might be true that Adrian was strong, and had the ADLA, nobody could predict what kind of danger he would face.
So for safety reasons, Michael had to make sure that Adrian was in the know of what was happening, so that he would not be caught off guard.
Regardless, since Adrian had already made a decision on what ability he wanted, Michael would of course grant him that. Therefore, he accessed the system store once again, browsing through the abilities that could be acquired.
At the same time, he said, "Okay, I will have a serum sent to you. Find some time to take it, you can use my office in the company, there is a private space there."
"Okay. Thank you." Adrian agreed before thinking Michael, as the call ended.
Michael then focused on the screen in front of him, where the ability that he was looking for was displayed in front of him.
Parallel Mind: This ability allowed the user’s mind to split into two active streams of thought at the same time. One could focus on action while the other handled analysis, planning, or observation, without delay or confusion.
The effect made decisions faster and movements more precise, and over time, the improved control and coordination allowed the body to perform beyond its normal limits. Continuous use, however, placed steady strain on the brain. Price: 112 SP.
Looking at this piece of information, Michael thought that this was an incredible ability. Had it not been that currently, he already had another ability in mind, he would have definitely chosen this one.
Nevertheless, he thought, eventually, he would be able to obtain this ability. The only limitation that he was facing was the speed at which his body was adapting to the mutation serum that he had taken before.
Judging by this trend, most probably, he would have to wait for quite a while each time that he took the serum. But even then, it was just a matter of time before he acquired more abilities.
As for the possibility of his body having a limit to a certain number of abilities that it could handle, it was unclear.
This possibility had emerged in his mind after the system informed him that there was a limit to the number of clones that he could have at the same time.
So, while he hoped that he would have no limitation to the number of abilities that he would have, he did not fully entertain that thought. He prepared himself for a possibility of his body having a limit to the number of abilities that it could handle.
So of course, the first few abilities that he selected, they had to be incredible ones, those that could help him in the long run.
Despite what he was thinking about, Michael went ahead and made the purchase, before a small glass tube appeared on the bedside cabinet.
This tube, it looked exactly the same as the one that contained the serum for the psychic ability, no different from a lab’s test tube, with a cork. As for the contents, it was silver with golden spots inside.
From the looks of it, it seemed that all the serums from the system looked the same. At least, that was based on the 4 grade SSS mutation serums that he had acquired from the system.
From the 4 serums, one was the one that he had taken, another was the one meant for Kate, another one for the bio human in charge of protecting Kate, and the fourth one was the one that he had just purchased.
With Adrian out of the way, Michael consecutively made calls to Benjamin, who was in charge of Starlight restaurant chain, Lucas, and Damian.
He made inquiries with them, just like with Adrian, and he received a response from each one of them. The abilities that they selected differed from each other, but there was one thing common.
That was the fact that, none of them had selected an ability that would directly boost their combat ability. It seemed that they had quite some confidence in their own abilities.
But it seemed that this might be true. After all, in terms of physical strength, they possessed the strength at the very limit of human capabilities.
While their strength had not exceeded human capabilities like Michael’s, there were not that many that good compare against them in terms of brute strength and other physical attributes.
Additionally, they possessed expert level combat skills, which allowed them to be able to demonstrate far more strength, unlike an unskilled person with the same physique.
And thinking about it, Michael thought, why not give each one of them an evolution serum? If they took the serum, they would definitely be able to break the limits, and their physiques would be improved beyond the human limitations.
It was just that, was it possible for the bio humans to take the serum? After all, from his knowledge on the bio humans, it was that while they looked like humans, acted like humans, there were some things that were inhuman about them.
One of them was the fact that their source of energy was not food, unlike humans. If they ate the food, it would be broken down to small molecular particles that would then disintegrate.
So, would it be the same with the mutation serum?
When this question came up, Michael immediately inquired with the system, and he received a response.
[The bio humans cannot depend on the mutation serum in order to be able to break the human limits.]
[There is a way to be able to improve their physical attributes, which is improving the level of the bio humans.]
[Some improvements can be made, to the extent that they are almost indistinguishable from humans, of course, in terms of characteristics, but that does not mean that they will gain all the weaknesses that humans have.]
Upon receiving the response from the system, Michael suddenly thought of something. That was, the bio humans that he had bought before.
Those that mainly focused on certain professions, like the early bio humans that he had bought, Lauren and Christine, who were currently in Sky Technologies, the R&D department, could they receive an improvement?
Was it possible to upgrade them, to the same level as Adrian, Damian and the others?
This time, Michael did not have to actively ask the system, as the moment that this question popped up in his mind, he received a response from the system.
[The upgrades can be made on any item that has been bought from the system. The host only needs to pay the required SP, and the upgrades will be completed.]
Immediately, Michael felt thrilled. After all, it was only today that he thought about the versatility of bio humans of the same model as Adrian.
So, from this point onwards, he obviously did not have any intention of buying any profession-related bio human.
Initially, he had not thought much about the other profession related bio humans but he had already purchased. But now, he would just go ahead and upgrade them.
But of course, that was something to be dealt with later on. For now, he just went ahead and purchased the abilities that Damian and the others wanted.
The abilities that they had selected included;
Lucas, Strategic View: This ability allowed the user to see the broader structure of any situation, including risks, advantages, and long-term outcomes. It helped in making decisions that favored stability and growth. Later, it could be used for combat planning or survival strategy in unstable environments. Price: 135 SP.
Damian, Network Awareness: This ability allowed the user to detect connections between people, systems, and organizations within a large environment. It helped identify influence chains, hidden dependencies, and weak points in structure. In future use, it could evolve into tracking hostile networks or enemy groups. Price: 115 SP.
Benjamin, Adaptive Management: This ability allowed the user to adjust strategies and systems quickly in response to change. It made organizations flexible under pressure and prevented collapse during unexpected events. In combat or crisis situations, it would help maintain control under instability. Price: 110 SP.
After purchasing these abilities, Michael noticed that the appearance of the mutation serums within the tubes was the same.
This time, for the purchase of the serums, Michael had spent a total of 472 points.
With the purchase completed, Michael just called for one of the clones, asking it to make the delivery. It would be quick, considering that there was a helicopter that could be used for this.
Just as Michael was about to move on to something else, he suddenly received a notification from the smartwatch in which Onyx was installed.
