Chapter 338: Choice, Guest

Kate fell into a moment of contemplation, as she was thinking about what to do. At this moment, she was quite inclined to join Alex's team.

Initially, the reason why she decided to join Tim alpha was mainly because she wanted time to improve herself.

As long as she could get enough time, it wouldn't be difficult for her to be able to get stronger, and probably, become one of the strongest people within the organization.

Kate was not sure if there was anyone else that had an ability of the same level as hers within the organization, but he did not doubt that there was someone out there.

Even if they were not part of the organization, they could part of those mutants that they were supposed to deal with.

So, if that person had an ability of the same level as her, and it granted that person immediate strength, Kate would be at a great disadvantage initially.

This implied, she would have to work extra hard, in order to catch up to them, and maybe even surpass them.

If not for the fact that she had to choose a team, she would have preferred to be given much more time so that she could train, and get stronger.

And when she believed that she was strong enough, she would eventually choose a team to join, and start taking missions.

Back to the present, about the two options available, she was much more inclined to join Alex's team. At least, there would be quite some time until she finally began taking on the risky missions.

No matter how great an ability she had, if she was not given the time to develop, she could easily die. Additionally, Kate was not intending on continuously depending on Michael on everything that she needed.

Michael had already helped her out big time, and she was not even sure how she was going to repay him. Therefore, she thought, if she could avoid causing unnecessary concerns for Michael, that would be much better.

Another reason why she was inclined to join Alex's team was because she was trying to avoid factions. For a long established team, no matter if it was part of the government or not, it would definitely have some small factions within it.

It was impossible to find that there was complete cohesion. Maybe there was a possibility that the team members would not fight against each other or betray each other, but those small conflicts were what Kate was not inclined to involve herself in.

But before making a decision, she glanced at Lina, asking for her opinion. Even though she did not ask out loud, Lina was able to easily figure out what Kate was implying by gazing at her like that.

The reason why Kate decided to seek Lina's opinion was mainly because Lina had decided that she would join the same team that Kate would. Previously, they had already decided that they would join team alpha.

But now, something unexpected had happened, which was not part of the plan.

Lina did not seem bothered at all, as she just nodded, clearly, she didn't mind whatever decision Kate made.

Since that was the case, Kate did not hesitate as she said, "Okay, I'm in. But, I would like to be given quite some time to train, or if possible, could some experts help me with the training? The more intensities, the better. I would like to get familiar with my strength, and test my absolute limit."

Clap! Clap!

Alex clapped twice, a big smile on his face. He had been a little nervous, but now that Kate had decided to join, he was no longer worried.

Even though he had been given the permission to create a team, at least, someone had to join. If nobody joined out of this batch of recruits, then he would not even get the chance to recruit from the next batch.

"That's great! I can promise you, you will never regret this decision that you have made. Additionally, I will offer you more benefits, for being the first person to say to join the team!" Alex said excitedly.

Immediately after, he turned to look at the other recruits, waiting for their response.

"I will also join." Lina stated. She did not try to give any explanation. Since she had already decided that she would join the same team as Kate, then she would do as she had said.

Alex nodded, much more excited. These two ladies, they were his main targets, after the combat assessment. Lucky for them, they both survived after taking the mutation serum, and now, they both agreed to join the team.

"Good! Good!" Alex nodded as he said excitedly, while expectantly gazing at the other three recruits.

Unfortunately, the other three shook their heads as one by one, they responded that they had no intention of joining Alex's team.

Even though Alex was left disappointed by their decisions, he did not try to persuade them any further, or force them to join the team.

He was quite satisfied by the fact that two people had already agreed to join the team. Hence, he glanced at Peter and said, "I will be going now. I will come to pick them up later on, so that we can focus on what's next."

"Get lost! If you dare to mess up their future, I will definitely not let you go. You will definitely have to pay for that." Peter snorted as he responded.

To say the truth, he was not happy with the fact that Alex intended to create a team of his own. After all, it was not that easy to be able to create a team.

Alex was not the first person who intended to create a team. Quite a number of people had intended to create another team over the years, but they had failed one after the other.

Though, there was one team that was successfully created, but unfortunately, because of failing continuously in missions with several casualties, it was eventually disbanded.

As for the other four teams, they had been there ever since the establishment of the organization. And the Delta team, which was for the new recruits to gain experience, was the only one that continuously gained new members, before sending them to the other teams.

"Hehe! You guys don't have the guts, but I do. Not only do I have the guts to create the team, I have the ability as well. So, you just wait, I will create this team, and it will be the best team in the entire combat branch.

By then, let's see how you will talk to me when you meet me in the future." Alex chuckled as he responded, before he swiftly left the training ground.

With Alex leaving, Peter gazed at the recruits and said, "Alright, all of you, since you have already made your decisions, I will not talk about that.

But for the time being, all of you will remain within the training camp, until the necessary arrangements have been made for you.

For the two of you, only after Alex has made everything official, would you be allowed to go with him and leave the training camp."

The last statement was meant for Kate and Lina, who had decided to join Alex's team.

....

Michael was just chilling in the living room of the villa, when suddenly, Onyx informed him that he was having a guest.

This surprised him slightly, as the visitor was someone that he had not anticipated to meet anytime soon.

Without much thought, he got up from the couch, before heading towards the door. And just as he was approaching it, the doorbell rang, indicating someone was waiting outside.

Click!

Pass the door opened, it revealed Carol, standing outside, with a bright expression on her face.

She wore a fitted camel trench coat over a deep burgundy turtleneck, paired with dark slim-cut jeans that hugged her figure. Her feet were wrapped in knee-high leather boots, while a patterned scarf rested loosely at her neck.

Her auburn hair fell in soft waves, catching the cool autumn light as she stood outside the door, while looking at the opening door with anticipation in her eyes.

When she saw Michael, she revealed a bright smile as she greeted, "Michael, it's been quite a while since we last met."

"Indeed, it has been." Michael nodded in agreement, though, he was wondering, what could be the reason why Carol came to look for him.

"Come in, let's have a chat inside." Michael said as he moved to the side, and Carol got into the villa

Michael closed the door, before following her into the living room.

Carol was quite reserved, as she did not immediately sit down after she got into the living room. Michael had no other choice but to tell her to sit.

"So, what made you think of visiting me?" Michael asked curiously.

"The main reason why I came is because I wanted to thank you for what you did for me. If not for you, I'm not sure what would have been of my career." Carol said sincerely.

If not for Michael intervening, she definitely would have faced quite a number of problems. Even if she could have dealt with the problem at the time when she asked Michael for help, they would have been more coming on later on.

But with Michael taking action, he had made sure that her career was smooth. She no longer had to worry about resources and being targeted by anyone within the company.

"It wasn't a big deal, so, don't worry about it." Michael said dismissively.

"Then, there is another thing, I'm not sure if you will be interested?" Carol was silent for a little while, before she spoke.
