This kind of twisted logic brought about by the obsession that Margaret had, it seemed that it was not just Michael that found it to be too much.

Rachel, who had just come back to her senses, only to hear Margaret saying those words, not only was she stunned. Instead, she found demeaned.

Never in her life had she ever thought that something like this would happen to her. Additionally, the person that was suggesting for this to happen was none other than Margaret, the person that she considered a mother.

It was just too much original to take in, as for a moment, despite how angry she felt, she did not know how to react. She was silent, just staring speechlessly at Margaret.

Margaret on the other hand did not seem to have noticed Rachel’s reaction. Instead, she focused on Michael, waiting for his response.

Carol and Kate, both of them were also left dumbfounded by Margaret’s decision. They did not understand much about Margaret, but from the way that she current herself, it was clear that she was someone of a high status.

Initially, Kate might have had some doubts about the possibility of Margaret having some ill intentions towards Michael. But this time, considering how far Margaret was willing to go, it was clear that she had intentions of approaching Michael.

It was not easy to be able to judge if her intentions were pure or not. But no matter what, Kate did not like this kind of act. That was especially if it involved selling someone else.

Judging by the way that Rachel reacted, it was clear that this was definitely not part of the plan. And clearly, Rachel was not in agreement with this.

Still, Kate did not say anything, as she just silently looked at Michael, waiting for his response. She understood the situation that Rachel was in.

Was this not the same situation that she had been in previously? Where, her family had already arranged a partner for her, and Michael helped her break the engagement before it went through.

Later on, she was advised even by her own mother, just to secure her future. She remembered clearly. But, she felt, she was much better as compared to Rachel.

At least, for her case, she was just advised about what she was supposed to do. Unlike Rachel, whereby, a decision was made for her, to become a mistress.

Carol on the other hand felt as though she was just experiencing a new world. Despite the fact that she had interacted with quite a number of people from high society, this was the first time that she was encountering a situation like this.

Never in her life had she anticipated that something like this really could happen. At least, she had seen those situations where big families made arrangements for the marriage partners of their offspring.

But something like this, where Margaret was suggesting for Rachel to be Michael’s mistress, she had only heard of something like this happening in a situation where a small family wanted to integrate into a bigger one.

Sometimes, it might be a big family that was using its influence in order to force something like that to happen.

But for this, especially if this person was actually Rachel’s mother, it was just inconceivable.

"I’m sorry, but I already said it before, and I’m not going to change my mind. My heart already belongs to someone, and it cannot accommodate another person, other than her." Michael shook his head as he responded.

His response made Kate feel relieved. At the same time, she felt, she needed to work hard. She might not be able to help Michael with the current state of the world.

But she believed that it would not be the case if this world exposed its other side. Kate understood that it was impossible to hide the issue regarding mutants forever.

As the number of the mutants continuously increased, it would continuously become difficult to be able to contain them. Soon, some of the mutants would begin acting, despite the restrictions placed on them by the government.

By then, the entire world would fall into chaos. At a time like that, it would no longer matter who was rich, and who was not. It would be the time when strength was recognized.

Since she could not match Michael in terms of wealth, then, she had to train hard in order to be able to be of assistance in a situation where strength was needed.

The expectant look that was in Margaret’s eyes suddenly froze when she heard Michael’s response. She just could not believe it. She had already made such a big concession, to the extent that she believed that her relationship with Rachel would deteriorate, but she was actually refused?

At this point, she wondered, could it be that Michael was doing this deliberately? Yes, he already had someone that he loved, she had already acknowledged that.

Because of that, she had taken a step back, not asking for Rachel to be his wife, but mistress instead. But even then, Michael still refused?

Was it really possible that Michael was the type that was loyal? The type of guy who only focused on a single person?

As she thought about this, Margaret wondered about something else. Could it be possible that Michael wanted more? Maybe, Michael wanted her to offer more than just Rachel, for him to accept?

Just as she was contemplating about this, and was wondering what she was supposed to offer Michael so that he could agree, Rachel finally erupted.

"Mom! I would never have thought that you thought so low of me! A mistress?! According to you, I am only fit to be his mistress?! What am I lacking as compared to his girlfriend?!

You know what?! I’m not going to tolerate this anymore! I’m leaving!" Rachel did not even bother to speak in a low voice.

Considering that the mall was currently experiencing a high number of customers, the coffee shop obviously also had quite a number of people inside.

Therefore, Rachel’s outburst immediately attracted the attention of the people around them. At that moment, as they heard what Rachel had said, most of them were shocked.

But for some, something like this, it was quite normal. They happen every day, and it was not much of a surprise to find parents using their children as a bargaining chip.

If it was just about getting married to someone else, Rachel was willing to accept. Yes, she was forced to break up with her boyfriend, but she knew, eventually, something like this would happen.

She had seen something like this happen many times. And if not for the fact that Margaret was currently very valuable to the family, she would have been probably married off by now.

Because of this, even though it was very hard for her to accept, she gave in nonetheless. But, it was a completely different matter when it came to her being asked to become someone’s mistress.

Who was she? What kind of background did she possess? Not to mention about her background, her personal abilities could also not be underestimated. She was a top student at the university, studying robotics engineering, artificial intelligence section.

She believed that once she graduated, she would be a very important figure in the country. Most of the big companies internationally would want to hire her.

With all that, yet, she only deserved to be a mistress? No way, it was impossible for Rachel to accept that. And, this was the point that Margaret had failed to consider.

As she watched as Rachel stormed out of the cafe, Margaret wanted to stop her. But she stopped herself. She realized, this, it was actually the first time that Rachel had ever shouted her like this.

In the end, Margaret was left torn, wondering, should she follow through with this, trying to convince Michael, or should she give up on this idea, to consider Rachel’s feelings?

Michael obviously noticed the attention that had been attracted towards them. Therefore, he looked at the two ladies and nodded. Immediately, the three of them stood up, preparing to leave.

"Let’s end this here. I have already told you my decision, I hope that you won’t try to pursued me, because I will not change my mind. And more than that, it seems that your daughter does not agree as well." Michael said in a low voice, trying to make sure that Margaret and the two ladies at the table would hear, not those that were already focusing on the situation here.

Immediately after saying those words, Michael turned around and left with the two ladies. Margaret was the only person left, deep in thought.

At this point, some of the people within the crowd in the cafe began recognizing Margaret. She was obviously frequently seen on news and newspapers, therefore, while she was dressed quite differently from normal, it only took a little while for people to recognize her.

Margaret, after almost a minute of contemplation, she seemed to have made a decision. Completely ignoring the mixed reactions of the crowd, she also left the cafe.
