Chapter 681: Chapter 681 - Getting married once more!

After a few more minutes, finally, we are right outside the main hall of the temple where the wedding will be held. This will be the first time I will be seeing the fully designed wedding hall since I was banned from being here from the time they started decorating the place.

A pair of paladins are guarding the door and they whispered to us that we have to wait outside for a bit until we are called in. I wonder how long the wait time is going to be.

While waiting, I couldn’t help but realize that this is my second wedding within a week. This is quite an unprecedented record if I may say. If Keeran decided to marry me before I left Hoffen City, this could have actually been my third in a week which I think will be an unbeatable record.

We have been waiting for almost a quarter of an hour outside the door but nobody has asked us to come in yet. The paladins and Clarence were staring at me for some reason with worried glances. I looked at each of them with a raised eyebrow, wondering what seems to be the problem.

The two paladins then stared at Clarence then I saw him bite his lower lip as if he was denating about something. After a few seconds, he started squirming in my arms so I slapped his butt gently to stop him from moving. He gasped loud but the sound that he ended up making was too lewd to the ears for whoever hears it that he ended up turning red in the face. The two paladins looked away from us, pretending that they did not hear anything but I could see the tips of their ears turning red as well.

Clarence grabbed my sleeves and pinched my arm. Though he looked like he used all his strength, I did not even feel it so I just stared at him calmly and asked, "What is it this time?"

He looked at me and whispered, "You can put me down for a bit. If you include the time from when we walked out from my room to here, you have been carrying me for almost half an hour."

I smiled at him and replied, "I am fine. I promised to carry you till we reach the wedding altar. Besides, you aren’t that heavy anyways. But, if you squirm too much, I will drop you straight to the ground."

Clarence’s eyes widened and he complained, "You wouldn’t dare...." I chuckled and replied, "You want to try?" He shook his head and stayed quiet and still from then on.

After another 15 minutes, someone from inside the hall finally opened the door. It was none other than the pope and when he saw my expressionless face carrying his grandson in my arms, his eyes widened. He looked sideways towards the two paladins and asked how long I have been waiting. Before they could answer, I simply said, "Almost an hour in this position".

The pope paled at my response and asked for forgiveness profusely. He then started whispering some scolding statements to his grandson about being so petty about being carried. I told the pope that I promised to do it for him so I am just making good with that promise and everything was totally fine. Clarence smiled smugly towards the pope and refused to give him any more attention after that.

Since I have already waited for so long outside, the wedding ceremony was started immediately once we got to the altar. To sum it all up, it was full of chants and reading a lot of scripture and the only thing I said through it all was "Yes" and "I accept" but the whole thing lasted for an hour. It was a good thing there was a chair for me to sit on. If there wasn’t, I am not sure if I would even have the patience to go through the whole thing.

As I looked towards my right where Clarence is, I saw his eyelashes drooping down! I wanted to laugh but we are in a very serious occasion. It is just this is the first time I saw someone feeling sleepy at their own wedding. Maybe he just did not have that much sleep lately because of all the preparations too so I could not even blame him.

I leaned in towards him and whispered, "Are you getting sleepy on me? Are we going to postpone our first night so you can rest?"

His whole being flinched at my question then he whipped his head towards my direction. He belatedly realized that my face was only a few inches from him. When he turned, I stole a quick kiss from his lips and leaned back on my chair.

I saw from my peripheral vision how his mouth opened from disbelief of what just happened. He must have realized I just tricked him into waking up and turning his head towards my direction so I can steal a kiss.

After our short interaction, I heard a few giggles from behind us. I totally forgot we were in front of the church members. I smiled and looked at Clarence who was now glaring at me with a blush on his face.

Seeing the commotion around, the pope coughed once to get everyone’s attention back to the wedding ceremony. Of course, I stayed seated the way I was and Clarence just continued glaring at me. The rest of the church members though became quiet as a mouse.

After the wedding was of course the reception. There was a huge variety of dishes prepared given that we have to feed all the members and the festive nature of the occasion. I also hunted a lot of game and harvested a lot of edibles these past few days so there isn’t any lack of ingredients in the kitchen whatsoever. For the first time, I saw them serving alcoholic beverages as well.

For some reason, Clarence continued gulping down glass after glass of the alcoholic beverages that were being offered to him as congratulations. We all know that certain person who is always in denial that they could not take their liquor. I have one right here with me!

He was starting to get silly and he was laughing at everything he was seeing though it wasn’t funny. Another proof that he was already drunk was he just sat on my lap facing me, in front of the whole church and hugged me like a koala shamelessly. I looked up at the ceiling and sighed.
