Chapter 125: PURCHASE

"This looks nice," Amelia whispered, staring at a katana hung on the wall.

The katana had a sleek orange sheath with red inscriptions at close intervals, paired with a golden hilt that drew Amelia’s gaze closer.

Although she could not see the blade hidden within the sheath, she knew it was going to be a masterpiece.

The maid stationed in that section walked toward her.

"That is the katana one of the clan’s previous Patriarchs used to kill a tier five void beast," the maid said. "As a unique tier weapon, it comes with three skills."

Amelia’s eyes widened further with every word.

The urge to have the katana only grew the longer she looked at it.

Amelia straightened, her lip curling into a smile.

"How much is it?" She asked.

"Thirty-five points."

Amelia’s smile faltered.

’I only have 52 points. Why is it so expensive?’ She wondered.

"I will come back," Amelia said, turning away quickly to avoid making eye contact with the maid.

Her eyes shifted to a cloak in another section.

"That is beautiful," she muttered, taking slow strides toward it.

"Argh," someone grumbled as they collided with Amelia.

The girl bowed quickly. "I am sorry," she said, before walking away.

Amelia watched the girl’s retreating figure with furrowed brows.

She shrugged it off and continued toward the section she had been heading for.

"What is this cloak?"

The maid bowed lightly before speaking.

"This is the robe of the Clan’s Progenitor," she said. "Its abilities are only known to it’s wearer so I can’t tell you anything."

Amelia looked at the maid, then back at the robe.

It was deep blue shading to near-black at the hem and cuffs, with a length that reached the back of her knees.

A hood was strapped to the back.

"How much is it?" She asked, holding her breath.

"Fifty points," the maid replied.

Amelia shook her head.

"That is basically all my points. Why are these things so expensive?" She wondered aloud.

The maid smiled subtly.

Amelia looked at the robe again, her gaze lingering.

Something about it drew her closer, as though the robe itself was calling out to her.

"Too bad I am too poor for you," she said, turning away from there.

She continued browsing, checking everything she could find, from antiques to weapons to souvenirs, but nothing gave her the same feeling as that robe.

’Should I just go back for the robe?’ she wondered, turning back towards the place she had just come from.

...

Billie did not waste time wandering the entire treasury.

She only had a limited number of points. Why search the entire place?

That was why she had made up her mind before she even started searching.

She was going to buy a dagger. One better than her current one.

Thousands of daggers were arranged neatly behind a massive display case.

Billie scanned them one by one.

She was not alone. Other candidates browsed the same case.

"This one," she told the maid, pointing at one of the daggers.

The maid followed her finger, then looked back at Billie.

"It costs forty points."

Billie frowned at the maid.

"Can you sell it for thirty-nine?"

The maid’s eyes shrank.

Her mind did not seem to process the request for a full three seconds before understanding caught up.

"Are you trying to bargain?"

The maid tried her best to not believe those thoughts.

But in contrast, Billie nodded.

The maid smiled. She simply could not help it, even though she knew she should not.

"We do not allow negotiation," she said as the laughter faded.

Billie sighed.

She turned back to the case, ready to browse for another dagger.

"I can give you one point if you ask nicely."

"Keep your money to yourself," Billie replied without so much as turning around.

Her tone was calm, cold, and direct.

It was as though she already knew the person speaking and they had a personal history.

"Robot," the person replied with a smile.

"Give her the dagger."

Billie tilted her head slightly to look at Sylvester before turning back to the maid.

She bit her tongue before paying all thirty-nine of her points.

Sylvester transferred the remaining one point with a smile.

"Why didn’t you buy anything?" Billie asked, turning toward him.

"Nothing here interested me," Sylvester shrugged.

"Rich kid," Billie said with a dry smile.

"Here you are," the maid said, presenting the sheathed dagger to Billie with both hands.

Billie collected it with her right hand, then unsheathed it with her left.

The dagger was sleek black with white inscriptions running along the blade.

"This dagger has the unique ability to absorb ambient aether from the surroundings, which can be used to activate techniques or replenish your aether reserves," the maid explained as Billie examined the blade.

"You picked a good one," Sylvester commented.

"I know," Billie replied flatly.

"You are too boring. I would rather spend time with Amelia."

"Speak of the devil," Billie said.

"What do you mean?" Sylvester asked.

"It means I am standing right behind you."

Sylvester spun around in surprise.

"When did you get here?" He asked, lowering his voice instinctively.

"Why are you whispering?" Amelia asked, arching her brows with a smile.

"To sound cool," Sylvester smiled.

"You sounded awful," Billie said before Amelia could respond.

Sylvester shook his head. "You are my greatest antagonist."

Billie rolled her eyes and said nothing.

"That robe looks good on you though. How many points did it cost?" Sylvester asked.

"Fifty. The only thing I bought," Amelia groaned. "Everything is so expensive here."

"Same. I could only get this dagger after Sylvester added one point for me," Billie said with a sigh.

"I should have sought out more fights if I knew points were this valuable," Amelia said.

"What did you buy?" Amelia asked Sylvester with furrowed brows.

"Nothing," he replied, scratching his head.

"He said nothing here interested him," Billie added.

"Show off."

That was Amelia’s only response.

Just then, they heard someone call from behind.
