Chapter 74: ISSUES

Silas landed softly on the ground, the aether armor around him dissipating into a mist of blue.

His eyes were fixed on the door to the warehouse.

A single tap.

Silas crossed the distance like it never existed, stopping in front of the door.

His hands trailed the door, then a sudden burst of aether exploded from his palm.

The door burst open, hurling through the entrance and hitting the wall on the far end of the place.

Silas looked inside, his brows furrowed.

"What happened here?" He asked no one in particular.

He stepped in slowly, looking around.

Every corner was checked meticulously, even places where it felt like there could be hidden chambers.

None of them were there. The place was truly empty.

"Did they know I was coming here?" He muttered, walking back outside.

"No, that’s not possible."

Silas looked around, noting how everything was scattered, like the people there had packed everything hurriedly.

"It should have been while I was fighting those guys outside," he concluded.

"Rion, call Billie," he said calmly.

Although he was not sure, he felt that if things went according to plan, both of them should be done by now.

"Master Silas, she isn’t picking up," Rion said after a while.

Silas nodded.

"Seems like they had some trouble on their side," he said.

He was not scared. He was sure that with the transcension potions and their skills, they should be able to handle literally anything that was not Max on this planet.

"Let’s check on those two then. Rion, call Michael."

"Hello, how are you?" Lilura’s enthusiastic voice rang through his head.

Silas nodded. He did not mind that Lilura was the one talking when he had actually called Michael.

They were on a mission and Michael could have entrusted answering calls to her.

"I am good, just completed my part of the mission although there are a few problems."

As he said this, he looked around again.

"We would discuss them when we get back."

Lilura smiled.

"What problems?" She asked.

"Don’t worry about that. How are things going on your side?" He asked.

"Fine, we’ve been searching but haven’t found any clues."

"Ohh, is he that good at hiding?" Silas asked. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎

"It appears so. That should have been the reason Michael asked me to speak to you."

Silas nodded.

"Okay, take care. Once it is 10pm though, return."

Silas’s voice was commanding as he laid emphasis on 10pm.

"Yes, we would."

Silas nodded and hung up.

"Things are going pretty well with them. Now, only Mira is left."

As he said those words, Rion called Mira.

After a few minutes, there was still no response.

Silas furrowed his brows.

"Call again," he said to be sure.

Again, no response.

"She is on an assassination mission. She should have killed her target by now," Silas muttered, stroking his chin in contemplation.

"Or does the target have extra bodyguards?" He asked himself again, still finding it hard to believe that Mira had not completed her mission.

"I should just check on her, it’s not like it would affect my mission."

He looked at the corpses littered all around, his pupils dilating to a slit before a smile appeared on his face.

"I should check my drops first."

"Wow, so many souls?" He muttered, reeling at the amount of souls he had gained from this one massacre.

"Is it because they are too useless to me in any other form so the skill just chose souls throughout?" He could not help but think.

At a glance, it seemed like he had gained just souls.

But he knew that was not all.

He had other things, including memories, cultivation bases that he had no need for, and even a core.

"So I can grant them to others too," he muttered.

After a few minutes of inspecting his gains and toying around, he finally looked at one of the corpses.

Something began to materialise beside him, an ethereal being of white, with a rapier.

His eyes were not cold, but something deeper.

"Go, kill that one," Silas said, pointing at one of the corpses.

There was no movement. The corpse he pointed at was still laid on the floor.

The soul moved regardless.

"It was a Master rank in life, definitely enough to face any of the criminals there," Silas said as he saw the soul cross the distance within seconds.

His rapier thrust down, straight at the enemy’s head.

The corpse moved immediately, blocking the attack with the flat of his dagger.

The soul pulled back, then attacked again, this time aiming for the enemy’s stomach.

The enemy, still lying on the floor, quickly rose, but it was a mistake.

The earlier attack was a feint.

The soul pushed its rapier into his head before he could get back up.

Blood spluttered and the criminal fell back to the floor, lifeless.

Silas watched the soul’s performance and nodded.

"It is capable of delivering feints too. That means it has all the knowledge from life."

He smiled as the potential of the soul army surfaced in his mind.

The soul returned quickly.

Silas tapped him on the shoulder.

"Since you were the first one I summoned, how about I name you and even make you the leader of the soul legion," he said to the soul, even though he was aware of its inability to speak.

"Levi," he said.

He remembered Celeste’s overbearing guard and could not help but name this soul after him.

Silas returned the soul to where it belonged and spoke to Rion again.

"Contact them."

"None of them are picking up this time, not even Michael or Lilura," Rion’s cold voice spoke in his mind.

Silas nodded and thought for a while before he shot into the sky.

"Map the fastest route to Mira’s position," he said to Rion as he burst through the air.

His mastery over flight was far more refined than before.

He began to streak through the night sky like a god.

Under Rion’s guidance, he reached Mira’s position within minutes.

"No," he said, increasing his pace.
