Chapter 45: Investment 45— Comeback

"H—How is this possible?" Geny staggered from the blood loss. She turned her neck mechanically backwards—Elliot was up on his two feet without a single scar on his body.

"His clothes are still torn. That means my attack reached him, that I am sure of," she mused in her moment of confusion.

"Then how the hell is he still alive when I totally destroyed his heart?" Her voice rasped.

She wasn’t wrong. It was common knowledge that when a person’s heart is destroyed, they would die without fail. Her dark eyes widened, jaws wide open. She rubbed her eyes to see if it was some kind of bad dream or illusion.

Unfortunately, he didn’t go anywhere—he was still standing right in front of her.

"This isn’t over yet!" Geny pulled the sword out of her head. Purple blood splashed on the ground. The flesh around the wound caused by Elliot’s sword moved rapidly and merged together.

In a matter of seconds, her head was back to normal—brand new.

The raging wind around Seria suddenly calmed down. Her blue crystal eyes lit up at the sight of Elliot. She couldn’t believe it, but she knew deep down that it was him.

"El—Elliot!" She ran towards him, hands wide open, ready to hug the life out of him.

Geny appeared beside Seria and swung her jagged claws downwards. Before her claws could reach Seria, they froze along with her arm.

"How dare you interrupt my reunion with my fiancé?" Ice spikes formed on the ground and thrust into Geny’s torso, flinging her into the ceiling.

Seria didn’t waste another moment. She immediately jumped on Elliot’s body.

"I—I thought I had lost you forever." Tears of joy rolled down Seria’s cheeks.

Elliot placed a hand on her smooth hair and rubbed it slowly.

"Don’t worry, Seria." He wrapped his warm hands around her ice-cold body.

"I’m here now. You don’t have to fight alone or feel alone anymore." A warm and soothing smile formed on his face.

"Let your fiancé lessen your current burden." He let go of her.

Seria’s cheeks were overflowing with tears of happiness—her crystal blue eyes beamed with joy—her cheeks got red in an instant.

"Don’t ever play that kind of trick on me again." She slammed a fist lightly on his chest.

"Don’t worry, I’m not planning to." Elliot held her hand on his chest. Seria’s whole face got red like water in a kettle that was just about to boil.

"Tsk. Couple goals." Taumus could only watch in delight, awe—and a slight hint of annoyance. He raised a hand up and made a gesture with his finger—telling Deria and Edith not to interfere, as Elliot and Seria had it covered.

"You dare have a romantic time in front of me?" Geny clenched her teeth in frustration.

"Even when I’m not yet dead, you have the nerves to mock me?" Abysmal black energy enshrouded her. Her feet were lifted off the ground as her body was pulled out of the ice spikes that impaled her.

The dark energy formed a sphere around her, as if it were a cocoon. Cracks appeared on the sphere and spread like veins until it shattered.

"Limiter off, True Form awakened."

Geny’s entire form changed drastically. Her skin was blacker than the night sky. The mouths filled with jagged teeth that were floating around her body got even larger.

"Prepare to meet your end. In the name of the great Entoma." Her voice rasped like a broken radio. She streaked towards Elliot and Seria, jagged claws placed forward.

A blue glow flowed around Seria’s body. She didn’t know what exactly was happening, but she felt a sudden burst of power within the very core of her being.

She moved a hand through the air. Surface ripples appeared—as if she were touching a body of water.

"I owe you one hell of a payback, bitch!" A psychotic grin tore across her face. She tilted her head backwards to see the look on Elliot’s face—he looked extremely happy, but yet she could see in his eyes that he wanted to be the one to end Geny.

"Tsk... But I’d rather leave my retribution to my beloved." Blue spell circles burst forth in the air and on the ground.

"That’s none of my business. Tell that to me when I feast on your flesh and throw out your remains."

Geny moved even faster—she opened her palms wide over Seria’s head—ready to pop it open like a melon. The next instant, Geny simply couldn’t move. Her body was suspended mid-air, held back by some kind of abrupt invisible force.

Ice chains emerged from the spell circles—they coiled around Geny’s hands, legs, and then torso. She was completely rendered immobile.

"19th Tier Spell: Eternal Binding."

Seria placed a hand on her face—and spread out her fingers such that only one of her large crystal blue eyes could be seen—her psychotic grin grew wider as her cheeks became as red as cherry blossoms.

The chains dragged Geny to the ground and she lay flat on her face. She forced her head upwards to look at Seria.

"Demon!" she yelped.

Seria looked at her with utter disdain.

"This is where trash like you belong—beneath my solemn feet," she whispered.

Seria took a step backwards and quickly repaired her facial expression.

"My beloved, I have bound her for you," Seria said with a sweet and adorable tone as she placed her hands beside her cheeks—she struck the perfect cute and innocent girl pose.

’Ahhh, my angel.’

Arrows of cuteness pierced through Elliot’s heart. He was ready to fall on the ground—but he had a job to finish.

"Thank you, my honey." He gripped his sword tightly.

"Anytime," Seria whispered as she stepped aside.

White translucent mana surrounded Elliot—his hair fluttered softly and his dim brown eyes were filled with a superficial white glow.

"Double Affinity Switch."

His mana erupted, unleashing a heavy gust of wind that blew a hole in the ground beneath him.

"Fire and Light."

Wisps of scorching red flames surrounded him along with golden light—then he vanished like a flash of light.

He reappeared before Geny, though she couldn’t perceive him—he was literally moving at the speed of light.

He unleashed thousands of golden-red flaming slashes. He diced Geny’s body down to the atomic level.

What felt like a minute for him was only a fleeting instant for Geny—Elliot walked past her.

"What... happened?" she mumbled as she noticed that she was still alive.

"Ahahahaha, you simply are too we—"

Just as she was about to finish her statement of mockery—golden light broke out of her body from multiple cracks, then she disintegrated into nothingness.

"20th Tier Spell: Revenant."

Elliot sheathed his sword, striking the perfect aura pose as the golden explosion illuminated his figure.
