Invincible through Touching Corpses
Chapter 221 - 220: Kill! Return!
The moment it sensed danger, the "Giant Arm" instantly realized something was wrong.
Its first instinct was to dodge. But with Lin Xinghai’s speed, and having already been closed in on, there was no way it could escape.
The "Giant Arm" could only watch with its savage eyes as the long spear thrust toward it. The weapon had seemed unremarkable at first, but suddenly, with a CRACKLE, it erupted with lightning.
The bolts of lightning multiplied, growing denser until they instantly enveloped the entire spear.
For the first time, the "Giant Arm" experienced an emotion called fear.
Of course, this all happened in an instant. Just as the feeling of fear surfaced, Mjolnir had already pierced its body.
Its body, which could normally withstand even the Heaven-Splitting Superpower to some degree, was utterly insignificant before the Thunder Power amplified by terrifying speed.
The keratinous layer on the "Giant Arm" was instantly shattered by the immense force behind Mjolnir. The spear tore through flesh and bone, bursting out of the creature’s back and straight into the head of the "Blood Worm" behind it.
Blood Worm: ???
Even at the moment of its death, the "Blood Worm" had no idea what had just happened.
It wasn’t just the Mutated Zombies; even Fang Tianhe was left breathless. Lin Xinghai had accomplished with a single thrust what Fang Tianhe couldn’t have done even if he’d risked his life.
With the "Blood Worm’s" death, the Blood-colored Beetles became like an army without a commander, instantly descending into chaos.
They began to attack everything around them indiscriminately. This included the surrounding Ordinary Zombies that were rushing over, and even the nearby "Giant Arm" and "Spitter".
Of course, Lin Xinghai had no time to bother with them. The "Giant Arm" had come to its senses and focused all its hatred on him, its two thick arms grabbing for him one after the other.
The "Spitter" also reacted with incredible speed, spraying venom everywhere as if it cost nothing.
And then there were the Blood-colored Beetles. Even without the "Blood Worm" to command them, they were still a threat.
Any other Mecha facing this three-pronged assault would likely just have to wait for death. Even a pilot like Fang Tianhe could only make a desperate retreat.
But Lin Xinghai didn’t flinch. He wrenched Mjolnir free, performed a side flip, and evaded the "Giant Arm’s" slam.
He immediately dashed forward, dodging the "Spitter’s" venom and simultaneously flinging off the Blood-colored Beetles that had crawled onto his Mecha’s legs.
Guessing that Mjolnir’s ability had cooled down, he made a backhanded thrust, once again unleashing his Thunder Power.
This time, his target was the "Giant Arm’s" head.
ROAR!
Having already experienced the terror of Mjolnir, the "Giant Arm" was both furious and afraid. It hastily crossed its arms in front of its head.
Its arms were both its greatest weapon and its strongest defense.
Seeing the "Giant Arm’s" reaction, Lin Xinghai’s eyes narrowed. ’This thrust isn’t augmented by my speed, so its piercing power can’t compare to the last one. Thunder Power alone might not be enough to get through both of its arms.’
Of course, he didn’t need to force a head-on clash. The Mecha sidestepped again. Leveraging his absolute advantage in speed, he changed the direction of his attack before the "Giant Arm" could react.
SQUELCH!
Mjolnir plunged smoothly into the "Giant Arm’s" head, leaving behind a large, dark cavity.
From the moment Lin Xinghai closed in to the instant he killed two Mutated Zombies, less than a second had passed.
It all happened so fast and was so shocking that the remaining "Spitter" stood with its mouth agape, whether in astonishment or preparing to spit venom, it was hard to tell.
But it was too late for it. Lin Xinghai brought his Mecha’s foot down, crushing the "Spitter’s" head into the concrete pavement and ending its life.
At that moment, Lin Xinghai looked like a god descended from the heavens. If the area weren’t teeming with Blood-colored Beetles, he would have definitely held the pose.
But even without pausing, in that brief moment, two Blood-colored Beetles managed to bite through the Mecha’s outer armor and burrow inside.
"Shen Han, contingency plan! My Mecha’s left calf!" As soon as Lin Xinghai’s Perception Power picked this up, he immediately charged toward Shen Han’s position and yelled.
"Copy!" Shen Han replied, focusing her Celestial Frost Superpower into a single point and enveloping the left leg of Lin Xinghai’s Mecha.
In an instant, the entire left leg was frozen solid, inside and out. This naturally included the two Blood-colored Beetles that had started their destructive work within.
A few seconds later, the Life Auras of the two Blood-colored Beetles vanished. By then, Fang Tianhe had also arrived and began helping to drive away the surrounding beetles.
"Alright, time to clean up the battlefield!" Lin Xinghai said, launching several Micro Missiles to bombard the surrounding swarm.
No longer under the "Blood Worm’s" control, the Blood-colored Beetles seemed to sense that the three Mecha were not to be trifled with. They changed targets, turning to tear into the Zombies gathering nearby instead.
Hearing Lin Xinghai’s instructions, Fang Tianhe nodded. He went to pile up the corpses of the four Mutated Zombies and ordered the Heaven-Sundering Mercenary Corps over the comms channel to speed up and get to their location.
As for Shen Han, she retracted her Superpower, allowing the leg of Lin Xinghai’s Mecha to quickly thaw.
By the time the main contingent arrived, the area was mostly clear.
Even the Ordinary Zombies that had been gathering had scattered because of the Blood-colored Beetles’ frenzied attacks.
However, no one relaxed. The commotion from the battle had been too great; other Mutated Zombies had surely taken notice.
The only question was how long it would take them to get here.
"This Industrial Park is huge, and we probably don’t have much time left to explore. Let’s split into three groups," Lin Xinghai said, discussing the plan with Fang Tianhe and the others while the Mercenaries collected the Mutated Zombie corpses.
"Alright," Fang Tianhe nodded, then continued, "but if we split into three groups, how do we divide our forces? What’s the protocol if we run into danger?"
"The division is simple," Lin Xinghai explained. "I’ll go alone. You take half the Mercenaries on one route. Shen Han and Roger will lead the rest on the third route."
As he spoke, Lin Xinghai opened a map of the Industrial Park. "Considering our different speeds, your two teams will each explore 20% of the area, on the left and right sides respectively. I’ll take the remaining 60% in the center."
"If you encounter danger, fall back toward my position immediately. We’ll maintain long-range communications and decide whether to eliminate the threat or retreat based on its danger level."
Both of them were a little stunned to hear Lin Xinghai declare he would explore 60% of the area by himself, but after their initial shock, they both nodded in agreement.
They were all aware of Lin Xinghai’s strength. This was, without a doubt, the best possible plan.
With the discussion concluded, the teams departed without delay.
Lin Xinghai took the special detector provided by the military, activated his Speed Superpower, and quickly vanished from sight.
Watching Lin Xinghai activate his Superpower again with such ease, Fang Tianhe and the others were incredibly envious. Not only was his Superpower terrifyingly strong, but its duration was far beyond anything they could manage.
But envy was one thing; they had a job to do. They all sprang into action.
Afterward, their luck seemed to take a turn for the better, as they didn’t run into much trouble.
During their search, Shen Han’s group encountered a lone "Spitter." It tried to summon a horde, but before many Zombies could gather, Lin Xinghai arrived, closed the distance in an instant, and killed it with a single thrust of his spear.
A single Mutated Zombie like that was a minor hiccup for the current Heaven-Sundering Mercenary Corps. It didn’t even disrupt the pace of their exploration.
Ten minutes later, the groups reconvened at the entrance to the Industrial Park and departed swiftly.
