Kaidan Game Train: Abide Rule or Die!
Chapter 2304: Backup Plan
"You mean to say, escape through those spatial voids?" Xu Huo was surprised by his boldness.
Shi Sanjiu smiled, "You should have seen the spatial voids in the city center. They are relatively stable. If we enter the game, they should be even stabler."
"Spatial voids and Spatial Portals are actually quite similar, the difference lies in the opening time and stability. As long as we can find a relatively safe spatial void, escaping directly is not an issue."
"The appearance time of spatial voids may only be an instant. How can we judge the situation on the other side in such a short time? It’s unlikely to connect to a calm zone on the other side," Xu Huo said.
Even if the spatial voids do indeed lead to other zones, what are the chances of choosing the right one successfully?
Furthermore, no one said that the passage beyond the spatial void is safe.
This proposal sounds a bit fantastical.
However, Shi Sanjiu took out a triangular instrument at that moment. The instrument was entirely metallic, and there was no display screen installed on its surface.
Shi Sanjiu let go, and the triangular instrument automatically floated up. Then the metal began to flow, growing towards one corner of the city center.
The originally palm-width triangle was stretched considerably thin.
"This instrument can detect whether there are stable spaces around. Its extension indicates the pointed space is relatively safe. The longer it extends, the shorter the possible passage to another space. Color also plays a role; when you see it change internally, it resembles flowing sand, and maintaining its original color means no other forces are mixed into the passage. If it changes color, it means several space-time powers might exist inside. Even if the passage is stable and safe, it may not be easy to pass through."
As he spoke, he took out a Teleportation Prop and opened it. When the Spatial Portal opened, the triangular instrument almost turned into a straight line, with the always flowing metal color being very stable, without further changes.
"The passage from the Teleportation Prop is the safest one. It’s normal for the Detector to behave like this," Shi Sanjiu raised his hand. "But unfortunately, even a cross-zone Teleportation Prop can’t work in the instance or in the game; the interference is too significant."
"Since it’s a spatial void, finding several Rank-B Space-Time Evolvers is probably difficult," Xu Huo still did not look favorably upon his plan.
"Don’t underestimate yourself," Shi Sanjiu was undeterred, "How will you know if you don’t try?"
"It’s not about underestimating, but this method is too risky and unnecessary," Xu Huo said. "For me, gathering fugitives is safer and more convenient."
"Perhaps that’s true for you, but it’s not for me," Shi Sanjiu sighed but didn’t insist. "However, the third game won’t wait for you; waiting for clearance also has risks. You might as well consider my plan as a backup."
He wrote all his prepared speculations and plans for the third game on paper and pushed it in front of Xu Huo, "I will give such papers to every player entering the third game. You can stay in the city center; I’ll find others. If we meet again in the third game, consider cooperating."
Xu Huo put the thing away, "Certainly."
He escorted Shi Sanjiu out and only opened the Communicator after seeing him leave, his brows furrowing suddenly, "Why has the fugitive audit stopped?"
Speaking, his gaze shifted to Old Cai, not far away.
Old Cai had been paying attention to the situation this side. Noticing his gaze, he approached at once, eyeing the Communicator in Xu Huo’s hand, "The communication channel isn’t stable, it’s always like this; sometimes, it might disconnect."
"Then think of a way," Xu Huo said in a deep voice.
Old Cai showed a difficult expression but did not refuse, gritting his teeth before leaving.
"So he is also with the Municipal Government," Zhu Xiaojin came over, speaking in a low voice, "Could it be they deliberately curb your numbers?"
"I’ll keep an eye on them," the Girl in the painting volunteered.
Xu Huo did not respond but instead entered the city center once more, attempting to approach the original Municipal Government site.
However, he had to retreat again within a minute. This time, two Spatial Ray Blades pierced through his arm and leg.
Though the wounds healed quickly, the thrilling process made him temporarily drop the plan of further exploration.
Zhu Xiaojin and Mi Qiaonan had been waiting outside, advising him with tact to be patient. Judging by the situation, it’s tough to influence a third of the game from within the center; if any adverse chain reaction occurs, wouldn’t it be a miserable loss?
Accepting their kindness, Xu Huo asked, "Where do spatial voids generally connect to?"
"I know this," Zhu Xiaojin immediately said, "I specifically studied it. If it’s a naturally formed spatial void, it surely connects to all sorts of random places, probably uninhabited areas. Think about it; a place with unstable space is definitely unsuitable for habitation. Even if someone does live there, the environment is likely extremely harsh, possibly only high-risk instances and some areas utterly abandoned by the game."
"Just the thought is despairing."
Mi Qiaonan nodded, "Whenever I encounter places or instances like these, that’s when I think muddling through the game isn’t so bad... What does a Rank-A Wormhole Point look like?"
Zhu Xiaojin, having seen a lot, said, "I visited a Rank-A Wormhole Point once. Not every Rank-A Wormhole Point and its sub-areas are better than the Wormhole Points further along. If the zone here has been devastated, then it’s definitely in ruins."
"Tsk, if humans didn’t have a bit of use value, I fear some zones would be outright cleared."
Such things are not uncommon in the game; some zones, unfortunate enough to be chosen, might have everyone become commodities, simply being governed by other zones would be the best outcome.
"But I heard from a rumor that when the game first started, back then, there weren’t many Wormhole Points and zones. Those earlier developed Wormhole Points and zones thought to seize the newer zones that hadn’t yet developed, and this was tacitly allowed by everyone. Moreover, the entire populace was warlike, often with several zones joining forces to start wars."
"It’s said many zones were destroyed, and their numbering had to be reshuffled."
"Fortunately, enough Wormhole Points and zones were born within the game, evolved quickly enough, otherwise, later zones would have been unlucky," Mi Qiaonan interjected.
"It’s not just because of that; there are too many Wormhole Points and zones to manage is one reason. Another major reason is that a Player quietly reached Hengxing Company’s headquarters, almost taking the company and its boss down. This made the evolved Rank-A Wormhole Points have to sit back down for negotiation."
