Kaidan Game Train: Abide Rule or Die!
Chapter 2418: Unless You Leave Shitou Here
"Young Master Rong," the visitor dressed as a butler, smiled at the two and said, "The old master invites you and Mr. Xu to come home for dinner."
Xin Rong wiped his face and urged Xu Huo, "Hurry up and wash, it’s just in time to go back for lunch."
Xin Rong originally intended to use Xu Huo as an excuse to see the large transmission devices but didn’t expect his grandfather would come directly to invite him.
One must, of course, give face to elders, so the two quickly tidied up, changed into clean clothes, and headed to the Xin Family’s residence.
This time was different from the previous dinner; last time, the entire Xin Family was present, but this time only Xin Rong’s grandfather and his parents were there.
Xin Rong’s grandfather seemed to be in poor health, looking much more haggard compared to their last meeting, with a layer of gray pallor in his eyes.
The old man greeted Xu Huo politely, and the conversation mostly revolved around elders showing concern for the younger generation. Upon learning that Xu Huo was not yet married, he jokingly suggested helping him find a partner.
Xu Huo straightforwardly refused, stating clearly that he wouldn’t be staying long at the Eye of Platinum.
An old hand in the business world, the grandfather wouldn’t change his expression over a few words; he merely lamented that there wasn’t a young man as outstanding in his own family.
Shortly after the meal, the old man used the excuse of being tired to leave, allowing Xin Rong and his parents to take Xu Huo to see the large transmission devices.
"Unlike the carriers of small transmission devices, the carriers of such large devices are generally assembled from multiple parts, covering a large area, especially those capable of transmitting ships, which are truly enormous."
"Ours is still considered small." Xin Rong, slightly excited, spoke to Xu Huo, soon leading the aircraft to one of the Xin Family’s experimental zones.
The area designated for transmission devices had been constructed, covering about five or six football fields.
"Is this the entire site?" Xu Huo asked.
"How could it be?" Xin Rong replied, "This is merely the site for placing the transmission devices. The area hidden by the environment simulator over there is the actual site."
Since demonstrating the devices, they certainly wouldn’t let him just inspect the site. At Xin Rong’s parents’ behest, the sides of the scene in front opened, gradually revealing machinery emerging from underground.
The first things that came into view were two giant metal bars. With the advancement in manufacturing technology, these two colossal objects, clearly assembled from multiple metal parts, looked seamless, with only energy patterns left on both sides. Entirely white, once fully extended, they stood about a hundred meters tall, with two bases on the ground. According to Xin Rong, these were buffer devices.
"For a spatial transmission device to reach the level of crossing zones and wormhole points, it must forcibly open a channel in space. It isn’t directly piercing through space but technically connecting two spaces, like taking a shortcut."
"But taking a shortcut isn’t easy; it requires immense power to open and maintain, thus needing a buffer zone. The main parts of the bases are still underground, but once the channel is opened, the primary work is shouldered by these two vibrating wings."
Xu Huo looked up at the vibrating wings and then at the bases covered in cold metal, only sensing hidden murderous energy—such massive devices, which are not even as tall as a building, can often decide the fate of a zone.
Underneath the tremors of technology, humanity feels so insignificant.
"Capable of transmitting ships, how many times can such a device be used?" he asked again.
"It can probably be used five or six times." Xin Rong pondered as he touched his chin, "But it’s expensive to operate; it would only be used in special times, certainly not for regular cargo transport."
Xu Huo nodded slightly, "It’s convenient for transporting people, too."
Xin Rong smiled without saying much.
Indeed, some zones use transmission devices for human trafficking, but for cities like the Eye of Platinum, it’s merely a weapon transport channel.
After viewing the devices, Xin Rong took him to other places for visits. This time, his parents didn’t accompany him. Once they left, Xin Rong whispered to Xu Huo, "My parents probably want to obtain the agency rights from Mechanical Castle through you. They’ve been establishing municipal government relations but haven’t succeeded yet."
"Don’t feel pressured, although we’re friends, they have too optimistic an idea, thinking a simple family meal could open doors?"
"Your family lately having funding issues?" Xu Huo weighed the ultra-miniature device in his hand, which was smaller than an insect egg on his fingertip.
"Probably spent the cash flow on transmission devices." Xin Rong was also slightly worried, "Recently, there have been many actions at home. Wondering if something’s about to happen."
"Shouldn’t be anything major." Xu Huo said, "If it was, your family would have to consider relocating completely."
Xin Rong thought it made sense, then showed him another kind of miniature device, "Our family isn’t involved in ultra-mini medical instruments; these are mainly for reconnaissance and surveillance, though they’re too small, having pros and cons, for convenience regular-sized ones are still normally used for deterrence and reminders."
"I can try to talk to Bai Kou for your family, but whether she agrees or the municipal government has other plans, isn’t under my control." Xu Huo said.
Xin Rong was overjoyed, robustly patting Xu Huo’s shoulder, "I knew befriending you was the right choice! In the future, whatever device you need, just ask me for it! You came to the Eye of Platinum to buy some devices, right? You don’t have to worry; I’ll prepare them for you!"
Xu Huo smiled faintly, "Let’s wait and see."
"Whether it works or not, I’ll still remember your favor!" Xin Rong wrapped his arm around Xu Huo’s shoulder and walked out, "Wondering if there’s any reply from Mechanical Castle."
Xu Huo didn’t contact Bai Kou through Beneath the Dimension; instead, he had Fang Jie make a call to Mechanical Castle, expressing his intention to visit. A day had passed, whether yes or no, there should be a response.
As they left the experimental zone and returned to the city, Fang Jie told Xu Huo he could visit Mechanical Castle before dinner.
Without delay, Xu Huo separated from Xin Rong and went directly to Mechanical Castle. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
This time, Yan Fang again led him inside, back to the same study as last time. Today, differing from the previously hectic low pressure, Bai Kou was evidently in good spirits, seemingly freshly showered, her hair still slightly damp, as she leaned in a recliner reading.
Upon greeting, Bai Kou slightly raised an eyebrow, "Progressing rapidly, I see."
"Average." Xu Huo sat opposite her, "You seem happy today."
"The work finally reached a break point, able to rest properly, certainly improving the mood." Bai Kou even poured him a cup of tea, using spatial power across the table to slide it to him.
Xu Huo took the cup, "Such sweetness?"
"Drink it if you want." Bai Kou leaned back in her chair, her gaze returning to the book pages casually asking, "How long can you stay this time?"
"Rest for two or three days then head to the next instance." Xu Huo said, "Want to borrow the Primeval Stone?"
"Forget two or three days." Bai Kou lacked interest and paused with slight dissatisfaction, "Didn’t you say I lack talent? Two or three days wouldn’t achieve much unless you leave the stone here."
