SONIA’S POV

I left my position before Carl and walked straight to Adelaide. My heart pounded with a mixture of hope and fear as I approached her.

"Do you know why I can’t feel my wolf? If you do please tell me," I pleaded with her, my voice trembling with desperation and a hint of panic.

"It’s alright. You don’t need to panic. I think it’s something that can be solved. But first, I must do something. Forgive me?"

My brow raised curiously. Split seconds later, my curiosity was solved when she reached out to the strings and began to tie them back together with careful, steady fingers.

Embarrassment washed through me as my face totally turned crimson. The heat spread rapidly from my cheeks down my neck and chest.

Ramon coughed and threw his face to the side, clearly trying to hide his own reaction to the situation.

That cunning man had basically removed himself from the situation when it was because of him I was half naked in the first place. The memory of his hands on those strings only moments ago made my skin tingle again.

"There, all done. Now, talk to me. You have to tell me everything that happened before I know how to help you."

I opened my mouth to speak, but at the same time, Blane stormed into the room, dragging Moon with him.

"I found him in the forest," he said, and threw him down to Ramon’s feet.

He hadn’t seen me yet, as his entire attention was on Moon, who was struggling to breathe on the ground.

"You bastard!" Ramon moved forward to hit him, when I dashed forward and blocked his path.

"Don’t hurt him please. I did nothing with him. He’s not the one that hurt me!" I screamed in his defence, standing firmly between them with my arms spread wide.

"Sonia?" Blane called.

He had seen me, I thought, as I slowly turned around to face him.

"Hey." I waved, trying to keep my voice light despite the chaos.

"H—" he stumbled back in shock. "Ho-w?" His voice was hollow and confused.

He looked from me to Ramon, and then back to me.

"H—"

He turned around and ran out of the room.

"Why’s he acting strange?" I questioned innocently.

"That’s not the point. What do you mean by he didn’t hurt you? Do you remember who did it?" Ramon asked, his voice tight with barely controlled anger.

"No, but I know it’s not Moon. Look at him, he would never hurt anyone. Right, Moon?"

A rush of tears fell down his face as he looked at me with gratitude.

His injuries were not healing. Probably because his wolf was weak.

He couldn’t even speak to me. All he did was cry silently.

"I have to treat his wounds before they get infected," I said, looking towards Carl for help.

"Only the Alpha can grant that request," Carl said.

I looked at Ramon, but he refused to look at me.

Walking to him, I stopped right in front of him and grabbed his hand gently.

"I know you don’t trust me, because there’s no need for you to. But if you hurt Moon, you’ll be hurting an innocent person. He’s just as much a victim of whoever was sick enough to orchestrate all of this as I was. Please allow me to treat him."

"And you?" He refuted in frustration, finally meeting my eyes.

Taken aback by his outburst, I took a step back and frowned inquisitively.

"I don’t understand."

"Who takes care of you while you choose to be a martyr for every sick soul? Especially when that person is under investigation."

"Look at him, Alpha. Does he look like someone that can hurt a fly?"

He scoffed and shoved my hand away.

"You’re gullible and softhearted. There’s no trustworthy person on earth. Not even your own shadow."

I sighed in annoyance. He was back to square one. Being hot-headed, arrogant, and set in his own ways.

"Fine, you can kill him if that’s what will make you feel better. But first of all, you need to let me treat him."

"Will that make you happy?" He asked after a few seconds of ignoring my request.

"Yes."

"Fine, treat him. But here in this house, because I’m not letting you go out."

"Thank you."

And to prove just how grateful I was, I stood on my toes and kissed his cheek softly.

His eyes widened at my sudden affection, but I didn’t give him time to ask questions.

I turned around and found the trio staring at me strangely.

"What?" I asked, wondering if there was something stuck on my face.

"Nothing," they said in unison, shaking their heads as they did.

"Alright. Could you help me with things I could use to treat him?" I directed at Carl.

He smiled and nodded. "I’ll be right back."

"I’m coming with you. Need to get a book to help with the other thing," Adelaide said, giving me a confident nod.

I smiled in appreciation for her thoughtfulness towards me.

They left, and with the help of Jenner, we moved Moon into one of the empty rooms and placed him on the bed.

Ramon blatantly refused to help. He said he was only going to touch Moon to kill him.

I wasn’t going to let him do that, of course. Although I had no idea what transpired between Ramon’s room and me opening my eyes to see everyone thinking I was dead, I knew Moon had nothing to do with it.

Carl returned with a box, and as he placed it by my side, I set to work.

I could feel something was wrong when I touched the wet cloth on the wound in his head.

My wolf would have sensed it out better. I didn’t understand it before, but now I do.

My wolf helped my abilities to be more potent.

She was gone, and I couldn’t feel as deeply as I usually would.

"Are you still on it?" Ramon called angrily from the living room.

"Yes!" I replied.

He hissed, and I heard the front door open and close.

My heart twisted, feeling the emptiness of his absence.

Still, I focused all of my energy on Moon and healing him.

"She’s special," I heard Jenner say as I rose to my feet after Moon finally fell asleep.

"I don’t feel special without my wolf," I said, and excused myself from the room.

As I walked out, I bumped into someone running my way.

The second I perceived the scent, my entire face lit up.

"Sonia!" Ivy screamed and dragged me in for a hug.

I felt the faintest hint of my wolf when our bodies touched, but as fast as it came, it fizzled away, leaving me empty again.
