Legacy of the God of War
Chapter 271: Getting Rid Of The Vultures
The atmosphere at the Pinnacle Estate was charged with tension as Zhang Mei relayed the harrowing details of her mother’s phone call. Li Chen’s expression darkened with each passing word, his hands clenching into tight fists as the full extent of Zhang Su’s audacity became clear.
Li Yanyan, who had just arrived with Zhu Fengrui, listened with growing incredulity. When Zhang Mei finished, she wasted no time in taking charge. "Take guards with you," she commanded, her tone leaving no room for argument. "Throw them out, by force if necessary. No one threatens our family and gets away with it."
Li Chen nodded grimly, his jaw set with determination. He had faced many challenges in his life, but the thought of his beloved mother-in-law being subjected to such cruelty ignited a fire within him that could not be extinguished.
Zhang Mei, her eyes steeled with resolve, rose from her seat. "I’m going with you," she declared, her voice unwavering.
Li Xinjie and Zhu Fengrui exchanged a glance, their faces mirroring the same grim determination. Without a word, they fell into step beside their cousins, a united front against the forces that threatened to tear their family apart.
With a sharp gesture, Li Chen summoned a contingent of the estate’s most formidable guards, their faces etched with grim resolve. They would be the vanguard in the battle to reclaim the Radiant Sun Estate from Zhang Su’s clutches.
The journey was a tense one, the air thick with anticipation and simmering rage. Li Chen’s knuckles were white as he gripped the steering wheel, his mind already mapping out the confrontation that lay ahead.
As they approached the grand gates, the sight that greeted them was one of eerie tranquility. The manicured lawns and meticulously tended gardens stood in stark contrast to the turmoil that raged within the estate’s walls.
Pushing open the doors, they were met with a scene that chilled their blood. Mu Lingling sat on the couch, her hand clutching her throat, tears glistening in her eyes. The once-pristine foyer was in disarray, the echoes of the earlier confrontation still lingering like a ghostly presence.
"Mother!" Zhang Mei cried, rushing to her side and gathering her into a fierce embrace. "What have they done to you?" 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
Mu Lingling’s voice was a mere whisper, strained and raspy. "They’ve taken over," she rasped, her eyes haunted. "Zhang Su and his family, they’re upstairs, claiming the estate as their own."
Li Chen’s jaw clenched, and he exchanged a silent glance with Li Xinjie and Zhu Fengrui. With a sharp nod, he turned to the guards, his voice ringing out like a clarion call.
"Zhang Su and his family have overstayed their welcome. They have threatened and assaulted my mother-in-law, and now they seek to usurp this estate for their own greed. This ends tonight," he declared, his eyes burning with righteous fury.
The guards straightened, their faces etched with grim determination. They knew the weight of their duty, and they would not falter in the face of such brazen audacity.
With purposeful strides, they ascended the grand staircase, their footfalls echoing like thunder through the halls. Li Chen, Zhang Mei, Li Xinjie, and Zhu Fengrui followed close behind.
The sound of doors opening and hurried footsteps heralded the arrival of Zhang Su and his brood, their faces twisted into masks of outrage and disbelief.
"What is the meaning of this?" Zhang Su bellowed, his eyes flickering towards the imposing figures of the guards.
Li Chen stepped forward, his voice ringing out with uncompromising authority. "The meaning of this, Uncle, is that your time here is over. You have threatened and assaulted my family, and now you seek to lay claim to what is rightfully ours. No more. You and your parasitic brood will leave this estate at once, or you will be removed by force."
Zhang Su’s face contorted with rage, his hands clenching into fists at his sides. "You dare threaten me?" he snarled, his eyes wild with unbridled fury. "This estate is mine, and I’ll fight to the bitter end to keep it!"
Li Chen’s expression hardened, his eyes glinting with steely resolve. "Then fight you shall," he declared, his voice low and menacing. "But know this, Uncle – you will not prevail. Not this time."
With a sharp gesture, the guards surged forward, their movements precise and coordinated. Zhang Su and his family found themselves surrounded, their bravado crumbling in the face of overwhelming force.
Zhang Liying let out a shriek of outrage, her voice shrill and piercing. "You can’t do this! This is our home!"
Li Chen leveled his gaze upon her, his voice laced with contempt. "Your home?" he spat. "This estate belongs to my wife and her family, and you have no claim over it. Your greed and entitlement have blinded you to the truth – you are nothing but parasites, feeding off the success of others."
Zhang Weijun stepped forward, his eyes narrowed in defiance. "We won’t go without a fight," he growled, his hands clenched into fists.
Zhu Fengrui met his gaze unflinchingly, his voice low and dangerous. "Then you will be met with force, and you will lose. Surrender now, or face the consequences of your actions."
For a moment, the air was thick with tension, the standoff teetering on the edge of violence. But then, like a deflating balloon, the fight seemed to leave Zhang Su and his family. Their shoulders slumped, their eyes downcast, as the reality of their situation finally sank in.
With a bitter snarl, Zhang Su turned on his heel, his family trailing behind him like dejected shadows. "This isn’t over," he spat over his shoulder, his voice dripping with venom. "You haven’t seen the last of us."
Li Chen watched impassively as they retreated, their footsteps echoing through the halls like a funeral march. Only when the last of them had disappeared through the gates did he allow himself to exhale, the weight of the confrontation lifting from his shoulders.
Turning to his wife, he pulled her into a fierce embrace, burying his face in her hair. "It’s over," he murmured, his voice thick with emotion. "They’re gone, and they won’t be returning."
Zhang Mei clung to him, her body trembling with relief and residual anger. "Thank you," she whispered, her voice muffled against his chest. "For standing by us, for protecting our home."
Li Chen pressed a gentle kiss to her forehead, his eyes shining with love and resolve. "Always," he vowed. "This is our family, our legacy, and I will fight to the bitter end to keep it safe."
As they stood together, surrounded by the unwavering strength of their kin, a sense of unity washed over them. They had weathered the storm, and emerged victorious, their bonds forged anew in the crucible of adversity.
