Legacy of the God of War
Chapter 47: A Serendipitous Office Space
Sun Weilong’s heart was a tumultuous sea of emotions, a heavy burden he had carried for decades. The revelation about his sister, Wang Mengying, left him in a state of shock and deep regret. He had spent most of his life searching for her, hoping to reunite with the sibling he lost when she was just three years old. The news that she had lived, married, and started a family should have been a cause for celebration, but it was instead a source of profound sorrow.
Guilt weighed heavily on Sun Weilong’s conscience. He couldn’t help but think of all the missed opportunities, the years that had slipped through his fingers as he searched in vain. His sister had been lost, and he hadn’t been there to protect her, guide her, or share her joys and sorrows.
The pain of not finding her earlier was excruciating. He questioned himself, wondering if there was more he could have done, if he had made different choices. The thought that his nephew, Li Chen, had grown up without knowing the love and support of family left a profound sense of failure in his heart.
Despite the shock, guilt, and sorrow, there was also a glimmer of hope. Sun Weilong was determined to meet his nephew, to offer what love and support he could now, and to make amends for the years of separation. In the midst of his emotional turmoil, the possibility of reconnecting with his family brought a faint smile to his lips, a flicker of hope in his heart.
Sun Weilong’s transformation, from the depths of despair to a renewed sense of purpose, was a sight that deeply touched his son, Sun Fang. He understood the profound impact of the news about Wang Mengying on his father’s heart and was relieved to see that it had stirred a mix of emotions within him. Sun Fang had played a part in delivering this long-awaited information, and it felt like the weight of years of searching had finally begun to lift.
Leaving his father to his own thoughts, Sun Fang departed with a sense of fulfillment, knowing that he had taken the first step toward healing the painful wounds of the past.
Sun Weilong, alone in the room he had kept for his sister, found himself in a bittersweet moment of reflection. He vowed to protect and support his nephew, Li Chen, making a solemn promise to his departed sister. The old photograph of Mengying, taken during her pregnancy, held a poignant resemblance to their mother, and it stirred a mixture of emotions within him.
Sun Weilong’s return to his study marked a significant shift in his life. For over a decade, he had secluded himself in that room, but now he was determined to make changes not only to his surroundings but also to his priorities. He had found a new purpose, one that involved healing and reuniting his family.
The housekeeper, witnessing this change, was taken aback by her employer’s sudden interest in renovations and improvements. Sun Weilong’s declaration to renew the house signaled a symbolic shift in his life’s direction, one that she would support wholeheartedly.
Behind the closed study door, Sun Weilong was set on a path to reestablish family bonds, repair the past, and create a brighter future for all of them.
In the dimly lit room, Sun Fang, his countenance cold and indifferent, made a call. He was a man who rarely let his emotions show, a true enigma to those around him. On the other end, Qin Junhao, his loyal right-hand man, picked up the call.
"Qin Junhao, any updates?"
"Yes, sir. I was just about to contact you. Do you recall the land with the grave in the East?"
"Yes, I remember. What have you uncovered?"
"It’s quite intriguing, sir. The grave on that land, as it turns out, belongs to the renowned God of War’s right-hand man, known as The Ghost."
"The Ghost? That’s an interesting discovery. Tell me more."
"Sir, here’s the intriguing part. There’s a scroll that the authorities confiscated from the site. From my sources, it appears that many of the God of War’s belongings ended up in The Ghost’s possession after the former’s demise. This scroll could potentially unlock a trove of secrets."
"This adds a new dimension to our mission. What’s the current status of that scroll?"
"Presently, the scroll is held by the authorities, sir. I’m diligently working on gathering additional information. But, discretion is paramount here. Sun Gang’s interference is becoming increasingly problematic."
"Qin Junhao, you’ve executed your duties exceptionally well. We must maintain a low profile in this matter. Our pursuit of the scroll is of the utmost importance, and it’s our best chance at staying ahead."
"I comprehend, sir. I’ll continue to delve deeper and ensure we remain one step ahead of Sun Gang."
As Sun Fang terminated the call, his icy demeanor concealed a mind teeming with thoughts. He was now shifting his focus from the quest to find his long-lost aunt to a formidable race against his brother, Sun Gang, in their relentless pursuit of the Seven Fists Manual. The stakes were soaring, and Sun Fang remained an enigma in the midst of a turbulent world.
Meanwhile, Li Chen had received Xu Zhonhao’s call and he left with Zhang Mei to pick Tang Ziyi.
The trio found themselves navigating through a bustling, modern business district in the heart of the city. Tall, gleaming skyscrapers with glistening glass windows loomed above them, reflecting the vibrant life below. The cityscape was a vibrant blend of contemporary architecture and lush greenery that provided a striking contrast to the concrete jungle. The sun’s golden rays filtered through the towering structures, casting long shadows across the streets.
Pedestrians clad in suits and professional attire briskly walked along the wide sidewalks, absorbed in their bustling lives. The air was filled with the harmonious symphony of traffic, distant chatter, and the occasional ringing of mobile phones. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
Li Chen’s car, sleek and polished, found its way to the designated office building. This modern edifice, constructed with polished granite and adorned with large, reflective windows, was a testament to the city’s ceaseless evolution. A sign by the entrance proclaimed the presence of various businesses within the structure.
The entrance lobby was a grand, well-lit space with marbled floors, housing an immaculate reception desk attended by an elegant receptionist who greeted visitors with a professional smile. An impressive electronic directory mounted on the wall indicated the various companies operating in the building.
Xu Zhonhao had provided Li Chen with the specific office number, which was located on one of the higher floors. They made their way to the elevator, where a helpful security guard ensured they found the right button to press.
As the elevator ascended, they watched the floor numbers light up one by one. Excitement and anticipation filled the air as they reached their destination, ready to embark on this new Chapter in their journey. The corridors on the office floor were pristine, with closed doors and nameplates hinting at the businesses that operated behind them.
Li Chen, Zhang Mei, and Tang Ziyi eventually found the office space that Xu Zhonhao had arranged. It was an area defined by sleek glass doors that provided a glimpse into a world of entrepreneurship and innovation. They were about to step into an environment where their dreams would begin to take shape.
The office they entered was bathed in natural light streaming through large windows, offering panoramic views of the urban skyline below. The contemporary design was punctuated by clean lines, comfortable furniture, and state-of-the-art technology. Several workstations and cubicles were strategically arranged, ready to accommodate the bright minds and innovative ideas that would soon fill the space.
Li Chen looked around the office space with a discerning eye and asked, "Xu Zhonhao, this place seems perfect, what is the asking price?"
Xu Zhonhao hesitated briefly before explaining, "Well, my friend originally bought this space for a different purpose, but his plans changed, and he decided to work in another city. He offered me the space for a year to help me start the business."
Zhang Mei was sceptical and she asked, "For free? It doesn’t make sense"
Li Chen’s skepticism remained, and he turned to Zhang Mei, saying, "Zhang Mei, you’ve got a point. This office is fantastic, fully furnished and ready to use, but I can’t wrap my head around why someone would let us have it for free."
Xu Zhonhao reassured him, "Li Chen, you can talk to my contact. He’ll confirm that the space is free for a year." He then dialed the number and put the call on speaker.
The contact’s voice came through the phone, saying, "They can use the office space for a year, rent-free. I understand how tough it can be to start a business."
Turning to Li Chen, Xu Zhonhao pointed out, "See, he’s confirming it. We’re getting a great opportunity here."
Tang Ziyi chimed in, trying to focus on the positive aspects: "Brother Chen, having a rent-free office will help reduce our costs."
Zhang Mei, still intrigued, mused aloud, "I’m not entirely sure why they’re offering this for free, but I won’t say no to such a fantastic opportunity."
Xu Zhonhao sought Li Chen’s final decision, asking, "So, Li Chen, what do you think?"
Li Chen contemplated the situation and weighed the benefits. Eventually, he made up his mind and agreed, "Okay, since the man confirmed it’s rent-free, we’ll take it."
