Legend of Dragon Son-in-law
Chapter 2488 - 2888: Intelligence
"Can I, or rather, do I deserve to, know your name?"
Leva faced away from Julius Reed, asking calmly.
"You are the strongest opponent I’ve ever met, even if I die, I want to know your name."
"Out of respect for martial arts, I hope you can fulfill this request for me."
After speaking, he remained motionless, apparently gravely injured, on the brink of death.
"My name is Iwan Martinez, under the command of Lord Lee Four," Julius Reed answered indifferently.
"You aren’t lying to me? I’m about to die, I just want to hear the truth." Leva slowly turned around, seemingly trying to remember Julius Reed’s face.
He was extremely weak, clearly near his end.
"My name is Iwan Martinez, ordered by Lord Lee Four to execute the Church’s people," Julius Reed repeated, "each serving his own master, sorry."
"Thank you." Leva smiled slightly, his figure slowly fading away.
In less than three seconds, he vanished into thin air.
"Where did he go?" Nightshade Sovereign asked in surprise.
"He fled." Julius Reed chuckled, stepping forward towards the remaining Church apostles.
"How is that possible! How did he do it? Escaping right under your nose?" Nightshade Sovereign found it hard to believe.
A living person just vanished without a trace?
Like evaporating from the mortal world.
"I let it slide, and he was indeed very strong, without either of these he couldn’t have escaped." Julius Reed ignored the pleas of the remaining Church apostles, ending their lives with his sword.
"This guy is quite formidable." Nightshade Sovereign sat on a chair, still confounded by Leva’s disappearance.
"It must be a secret technique of the Church." Julius Reed sheathed his sword, spoke with his hands behind his back, "He was trying to find out our true identities and also stalling for time."
"Then why didn’t you kill him?" Nightshade Sovereign didn’t understand.
Knowing the opponent was stalling, how could he let him slip away?
Moreover, with such a master, if there’s a chance to kill, it must be taken.
Otherwise, future encounters would be a big trouble!
This time, they could strike unexpectedly.
Next time, the opponent would come prepared, making it hard to eliminate someone so formidable.
"This person is not ordinary, I deliberately claimed to be Iwan Martinez, so he would report back to the Church." Julius Reed picked up a jug of wine from the table, pouring it into his mouth.
"Iwan Martinez is a top general under Lee Four, with Trent Marsh gone, I estimate the next person to emerge will be Iwan Martinez. Why not make it a bit more challenging for him, make his trip colorful?"
Throwing the wine jug on the ground, stepping over corpses, Julius Reed slowly left.
"Truly wicked." Nightshade Sovereign sighed helplessly, "Lee Four is truly cursed, running into you."
Saying this, he picked up a few pieces of meat, stealthily stuffed a bottle of wine into his pocket, and followed Julius Reed out.
Thirty miles away from the hotel!
Leva’s figure suddenly appeared.
His face pale, the wound on his arm long since healed.
But one hand was gone.
His body covered in blood stains.
Judging by his state, he was extremely weak, barely able to walk.
Once sure no one was following, Leva quickly took a satellite phone from his pocket, pressing the green button.
Soon, an aged voice came through.
"Leva, how did it go?"
"Archbishop, I encountered trouble, very dangerous trouble." Leva panted heavily, sweat dripping like beans from his forehead.
Sometimes clutching his fist in pain, sometimes gritting his teeth.
His clothes were soaked with sweat.
"What happened? Leva, you sound injured?" The archbishop’s tone was somewhat surprised, "Are you safe now?"
Within the Church, Leva was very capable.
The most crucial point is, within the Church, only Leva has mastered the archbishop’s avatar technique.
The so-called avatar technique was the means Leva just used to escape.
Because of this, Leva held a high status in the Church, deeply valued by the archbishop.
If even Leva is in danger now, it means the Church is facing very serious trouble.
"As long as you’re safe, take your time to explain, I will immediately contact those nearby to assist you," the archbishop consoled.
"Kaiser and others were killed in the tavern. I sent people to investigate, but was traced to their location by those two young men. During the fierce battle just now, apart from my severe injury, everyone else died. Archbishop, we’ve severely underestimated our opponents."
Speaking of the earlier incident, Leva was still full of trepidation.
He’d carried out missions for so many years, it was the first time he’d encountered such a dangerous situation.
Almost lost his life.
However, he didn’t mention leaving his companions behind.
The archbishop wouldn’t mind either.
The Church’s principle for handling elites is just one: survival.
"What? Just two young people? Annihilated Kaiser and the others, almost wiped you all out? My God, you didn’t see wrong?" The archbishop’s tone was full of surprise. He had a lot of confidence in the Church apostles he sent out.
But just two young men, taking out so many elite?
The previous investigation report didn’t mention young people.
"Where did these two guys come from?" The archbishop steadied his emotions, asking. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
As the current top leader of the Church, no matter what happens, others may panic, but he must remain calm.
Otherwise, the entire Church would be in chaos.
"I pretended I was dying, deliberately leading him to speak." Leva spoke while trembling.
This was the aftereffect of using the avatar technique, requiring a large amount of spiritual power and a day or two of rest to recover.
"He said he was under Lee Four’s command, named Iwan Martinez. He also said each serves their own master, Lee Four sent him to kill our Church. I looked at them, they didn’t seem to be lying."
Leva continued trembling.
He felt extremely cold.
"Alright, don’t worry. I’ll arrange for Zack to investigate concerning Lee Four. Someone is already on their way to support you, take good care of your injuries." The archbishop comforted him before hanging up the phone.
Leva, in a haze, vaguely saw Church members rushing towards him when he fainted.
At Thousand Peaks, the archbishop wasn’t in a very good mood.
He lit a cigar, sitting silently in the chair, smoking.
After a while, he picked up the phone, calling Zack.
"What is the background of this Lee Four? Just now, ten of our Church’s masters were killed at the hands of Lee Four’s men, Leva almost didn’t make it."
The tone carried reproach.
Zack had always been outside, logically the intelligence and information work should be his responsibility.
But now such strong enemies have appeared, with nothing in their files.
"Lee Four is very strong," Zack asked in confusion, "Encountered again?"
"Lee Four is targeting us, he has a subordinate named Iwan Martinez, very dangerous! Zack, within half a day, find out everything about this Iwan Martinez!"
Boom!
The archbishop hung up the phone, tossing the cigar to the ground.
