Chapter 28: 28:Hidden Ambush

Reigns did not pause.

Another wolf leaped toward him from the right, its jaws wide open and aimed at his neck.

His right hand holding the scythe was a bit away so he twisted his arm,and shot out his left hand.

BANG!

Thia time, his Callous Hand met the wolf mid-air, grabbing it by the neck. The wolf was startled feeling the strength behind the hands that grabbed him like iron pincers.

The impact echoed sharply, but it did not make Reigns flinch. He had tested callous hands and just knew how tough his palm become.

Instead, the sheer force shook the Direwolf violently before he slammed it down into the ground and followed with a scythe strike.

Blood sprayed across the ground.

Another notification chimed.

[You have killed Lv5 Direwolf.]

[You have gained 400 days of tradable lifespan.]

[You have Leveled up.]

[Splash shooter Lv4>>Lv5]

[Splash shooter Lv2>>Lv3]

The rhythm of battle intensified.

Each time Reigns moved, there was no hesitation. His strikes were heavy and direct, and the aftermath of each blow carried a force that even the Direwolves could not withstand.

That startled everyone to the core.

"Weren’t you a farmer. Since when have the farmer became this violent."

Kellar stared wide-eyed for a moment, before he snapped back to the fight. He stepped forward and slammed his shield into a charging wolf, knocking it aside, while Arvin moved swiftly across the field and cut through another with a clean strike.

Meanwhile, Mira raised both her hands, and a series of glowing circles formed in front of her.

"I’ll handle this!" she shouted as she released a wave of flame attack that struck two wolves at once, slowing them down and forcing them to retreat a few steps.

Ren standing at a distance drew the bow and released arrows one after another without pause.

"Left side!" he called out as an arrow pierced through a wolf’s eye.

The battlefield turned chaotic.

The Splash Shooter continued firing bursts of compressed shots, disrupting the wolves’ formation and breaking their rhythm again and again.

Reigns moved through it all like a center point of destruction.

Another wolf suddenly lunged at him from the bushes, startling him for a brief moment and forcing his body to react subconsciously as he raised his hand to block.

His Callous Hand caught the wolf’s fangs mid-bite, and the impact echoed sharply through the clearing.

The wolf’s body trembled from the force as its jaw struggled against his grip. Reigns tightened his hold, grabbed its jaw firmly, and pulled it closer before cutting it down with his scythe in one clean motion.

Notifications continued to chime in rapid succession.

[You have killed Lv5 Direwolf.]

The ground was soon littered with fallen bodies.

The remaining wolves began to hesitate. Their earlier coordination broke, and their growls turned uncertain as they slowly stepped back.

Arvin seized the moment."Push forward!"

The group advanced together, pressing the advantage without giving the wolves a chance to recover.

Within moments, the last Direwolf let out a weak cry before collapsing onto the ground.

A hush slowly returned to the clearing, broken only by the sound of heavy breathing.

Reigns stood still for a moment with his scythe dripping with blood. His summons remained active around him, swaying slightly as if waiting for his next command.

Arvin let out a long breath and straightened his posture. He lowered his weapon and wiped the blade carefully with a cloth, removing the blood with slow and steady movements. After that, he looked around at everyone with an eased smile.

"Good work," he said. "Everyone did well. That was clean coordination."

Ren lowered his bow and rolled his shoulders slightly, trying to ease the tension in his muscles. Mira also relaxed her hands as the glow around them faded, though her breathing was still a little uneven.

Kellar, on the other hand, suddenly let out a loud laugh, breaking the quiet atmosphere.

"Haha! This is a good place!" he said as he planted his shield on the ground for a moment and stretched his arms.

His face was full of excitement.

"We haven’t even finished the first day, and we

already have significant gains!"

His words lifted the mood instantly.

Arvin gave a faint smile but did not interrupt. Instead, he crouched down near one of the Direwolf bodies and began checking it for loot.

"Start collecting," he said while working. "Don’t waste time. We don’t know when another group might come."

The others quickly moved.

Reigns walked toward one of the fallen wolves and crouched beside it. He carefully inspected the body and began collecting usable materials. The fur, claws, and fangs were all valuable.

Nearby, Ren pulled out a small knife and began extracting arrows that could still be reused, while also helping gather drops.

Mira moved between bodies, picking up items and occasionally glancing around to stay alert.

Lira, meanwhile, sat at the back while observing the team members with a blissful smile and couldn’t help but feel that she was quite useless.

Kellar lifted one of the larger wolf corpses slightly and whistled."Not bad at all," he muttered, clearly pleased as he began collecting what he could.

The group spread out across the clearing, working efficiently.

This was just the first day, and yet, they had already secured a strong start.

Suddenly,a faint rustle came from the bushes.

It was subtle at first, almost easy to ignore among the sounds of movement and shifting bodies.

Reigns paused for a brief second, his hand still resting on a Direwolf’s fang. His eyes lifted slightly.

Another sound followed.

This time sharper.

Ren’s head snapped up.

"Something’s—"

Before he could finish.

Whoosh!

An arrow shot out from the trees and struck the ground right beside Mira, exploding in a burst of dirt and force.

"Ambush!" Arvin shouted instantly as he jumped to his feet and raised his weapon.

More arrows followed.

They came from multiple directions, cutting through the air with sharp whistling sounds.

Kellar, reacting quickly, rushed ahead to raise his shield forward, blocking the arrows that would have hit Ren.

"Behind the trees!" Ren shouted.
