Alex walked out of the guild, in his hand he held a leather pouch containing 487 Nyxare coins.

As most of his catches were F-Rank, they didn’t pay much, but the sheer amount had made him enough not to worry about anything.

Normally, I would have needed to buy a weapon and armor with this, but because of Cedric and the dagger I got from the crate, I don’t have to waste any coins on them.

In the original story, Alex had reached level 5 just shy of the last day, so when he entered the city, he was no longer a slave, and that, by default, made him unable to join the hidden quest.

Even in the story, only a single Player had managed to get this hidden quest by pure luck, and that Player had failed it.

He was sure of it because original Alex had joined the main city quest: Heretics Vs Devotee.

And to complete the main city quest: Heretics Vs Devotee, he had killed the pope of the Church of Prime Night.

But as Alex had decided upon the hidden quest, he didn’t know anything.

He didn’t know what the Seed of Darkness was or how he was supposed to find it... so for now, he decided to finish the major quest.

Alex soon reached the forest and started looking for the remaining prey.

As he had already cleared most of the innermost layer in the south, this time he was in the north.

There was barely any difference between them, and within just a few minutes, he found his first prey.

He slithered near a tree and gazed at the beast.

A shadow with nothing to cast it crept closer to the bear, and just as it reached its prey, Alex jumped out of the shadow.

His dagger’s blade shone with mana, and he brought it down right at the back of the bear’s neck.

The bear was mid-turn when it felt a slight burn, and the next moment, a tear left its eye, and the dagger stabbed through its life, killing it.

Alex pulled out his dagger. The bear fell to the ground with a heavy thud and blood splattered everywhere.

"Hoh..." he exhaled deeply and looked at his latest hunt with a wide grin. "I am getting better at this."

He crouched beside the bear, ran a hand through its brown fur, and stored it in his inventory.

Then, using his shadow-sensing ability, he searched for any other bear around here, but as the ability’s range was just ten steps in each direction, he found nothing.

He returned to his shadow and continued deeper into the forest.

After about fifteen minutes, he found his last prey, and just like the previous one, it died without even knowing that its life had been reaped.

"What?" He stumbled backward in fear.

Throughout the 2150 Chapters of Villain’s Ascension, a black screen had never been mentioned.

"What is going on?" he mumbled, terrified.

Alex’s eyes widened, his expression turned horrified and suddenly, the world around him began to break into pixels.

The system spoke again – however, this time, for the first time, it sounded annoyed.

Hearing that, Alex froze. His body trembled, and he stammered, "No. No. No! What is going on?"

Fear gripped his heart, panic wrapped around his neck and horror filled his mind.

Am I going to be erased? He thought ominously, and just as abruptly, everything around him returned to normal.

He blinked.

"I am fine...?" He mumbled in disbelief and the system whispered, its sound monotonous as always.
