Chapter 32: Leader of Dark Wolves, Confrontation

Alex stared into that person’s crimson eyes and stepped forward with an impassive expression.

The person was a Player – one that he knew pretty well.

He was Antonio Corleone, the youngest son of the Corleone high clan, bearer of A-Rank Invulnerable Shell talent, and the leader of Dark Wolves.

According to Villain’s Ascension, Antonio had defeated Free Sword and taken over the whole outer Nyxare city before original Alex returned.

Seeing him coming toward himself, Antonio grinned and asked in a wild tone, "Are you Alex Blade?"

Alex halted, his gaze shifted between the members of Dark Wolves as he searched for the Player whom they claimed to have a hidden mage class.

The gang members exchanged frustrated looks upon witnessing Alex’s complete disregard for their boss’s words, and one of them shouted furiously.

"You! How dare you ignore our boss?!"

Seems like they aren’t here, Alex finally shifted his gaze back to Antonio and nodded. "Yes, I am."

Antonio offered a hand to Alex and declared, "I like you, join us."

How blunt, Alex remarked inwardly, and his gaze sharpened. Seems like someone told them about me.

Similar to how Lightbearers were in control of the outer northern city, Dark Wolves had the outer eastern city, and Free Sword had the outer western city.

"You don’t really think that I’ll join you just because you came by yourself, do you?" Alex muttered flatly.

No change appeared in Antonio’s demeanor as he responded, "Oh, I do. I do think that you’ll join us or..."

He turned his head toward Lightbearers’ base in the distance and said, "My boys can have fun some other way."

The members of Dark Wolves grinned at his words, and their eyes shone with malice.

Alex’s expression stayed impassive as he turned around and stated, "Go back to your caves. I have recently gained a tendency to kill wild wolves."

Hearing him, the expressions of the members of Dark Wolves turned furious, and one of them stepped forward to lunge at him, but before he could, Antonio raised a hand.

The member stopped instantly and stepped backward with a sour expression.

Antonio watched Alex leave and mumbled under his breath, "He is way better than what she had told me."

His gaze once again shifted toward Lightbearers’ base, and he whispered, "What is it that you want from him?"

A chuckle escaped his lips, and he turned around. "Let’s go."

As Alex walked toward Lightbearers’ base, his expression turned somber.

Even though he had done a lot of things, all of them were done in hiding, so no one had any clue about his actual strength, and the person who could have had the closest guess would be the lady of Lightbearers.

But he couldn’t believe that Allura One, who had sacrificed herself to save original Alex, would do such a thing.

It wasn’t just slightly different from the novel – it was a complete 180 in personality.

I don’t even know what’s going on anymore.

He jumped into his shadow and sped toward Lightbearers’ base.

Unlike usual, he didn’t wait at the gates or meet other members – instead, he went directly to Allura’s chambers and appeared in a corner.

Allura was standing beside the window with a paper sheet in her hand, and her eyes were darting from one place to another.

His yellow eyes shone as he stared at her for a while, and after a few minutes had passed, she let out a defeated sigh and turned to her chair.

Just as she did so, her gaze fell on Alex standing in the corner, and a troubled smile appeared on her face.

"Well, this is unusual..."

He closed the distance between him and her table and asked, "Why did you tell Antonio Corleone about me?"

Allura’s smile faltered, and she looked in his eyes as though trying to find a way out of answering him, but as she searched, all she found was his cold determination.

She let out a frustrated sigh and leaned back in her chair. "I did it to buy us some time."

He frowned.

Seeing which, she explained.

"Both Dark Wolves and Free Sword have played their cards, and although many of my people have talents, they aren’t capable enough to make Antonio and Crela vigilant."

"So you used me? Even though you yourself don’t know how strong I am?" He asked curiously.

She shook her head. "I’ve heard various things about you, and with the help of that knowledge, I believe my guess is pretty close to your actual strength if not above it."

No, it isn’t. He remarked inwardly.

He walked over to the window, and his gaze landed on a group of five women, all wearing colorful attire. Although they seemed to be enjoying the food stalls, their gazes were occasionally drifting to Lightbearers’ base.

It was pretty clear that they were spies sent by Crela Estrada, the leader of Free Sword.

"What do you believe Crela would do now?" He asked.

Allura glanced at him and said, "Knowing that Antonio had been to the outer northern city, she would be troubled about us joining hands to take her down."

Alex nodded. "Her first move would be to use all her manpower to obtain as much information on me as possible because Antonio had come all the way here just to see me."

He glanced at Allura from the corner of his eye and added, "Which means she won’t be able to get much information on your people."

Having placed her plan bare, she smiled worriedly and whispered, "Yeah..."

"Unfortunately, she won’t do it," he stated.

"Huh?" Allura’s expression turned confused, and she asked, "What do you mean?"

"Your plan would only work if Crela is as cautious as you believe her to be. But what if she isn’t? What if this alone is enough to break her?"

Allura’s expression darkened. She obviously had believed that those leading a group were strategic experts, but now she was having different thoughts.

He turned to her and asked.

"What if Crela had done so with pure skill and power? What if Free Sword was actually a group of her admirers?"
