Live Strong in the Wilderness
Chapter 551: Feline Fierce Beast
"Brother Bin, do you think Brother Qin and the others might be in trouble? They’ve been out for so long and haven’t come back."
Outside the edge of the Meteorite Crater, Tian Ming looked around anxiously.
This morning, they officially became members of Xu Yi’s team.
Moreover, Qin Fan had given them ten Star Charts so that they could cut and bring back ice blocks from the snow.
Qin Fan, on the other hand, took the others away from the base, saying they needed to clear nearby level 5 Fierce Beasts.
By evening, they had returned with large ice blocks, but there was no sign of Qin Fan and the others.
So, Tian Ming was quite worried that something might have happened to Qin Fan and the others.
Gong Bin chuckled and patted Tian Ming on the shoulder, saying, "Don’t worry, Brother Qin and the others are so strong, nothing will happen to them. You can rest assured. Maybe they’re still busy hunting nearby Fierce Beasts and don’t plan to come back just yet. After all, going back and forth takes time."
"Yeah, if something happened, we would definitely be notified. They’re the strongest besides Xu Yi. If they can’t clear those Fierce Beasts, no one can." Zhu Jun was confident in Qin Fan and his team, having seen them hunt Fierce Beasts before.
Tian Ming felt their reasoning made sense, so he no longer worried. He joined Gong Bin and the others back in the Meteorite Crater to start preparing dinner.
Qin Fan and the others indeed had no plans to return.
There were many Fierce Beasts, and quite a few were herbivorous, making them numerous and time-consuming to eliminate. Returning and coming back would just be a waste of time.
After clearing these Fierce Beasts, they could take them back to freeze, turning them into food reserves.
Otherwise, Qin Fan wouldn’t have sent Gong Bin and the others to fetch ice blocks.
With the ice blocks, they could build an ice cellar.
Using telekinesis to excavate caves was also a form of training, a practice for telekinesis.
In the tent, everyone sat together, waiting for the meal to finish cooking.
Wang Jin rested her chin on her hand, looking at the steaming soup pot, and said, "I wonder how Xu Yi is doing. Did he find the territory of the level 6 Fierce Beast? He’s quite far from us. If this place is all grassland, it should be much larger than the biggest prairie in our country, right?"
Beside her, Lu Yao nodded and replied, "It should be. If Xu Yi is still on the grassland, it’s at least two to three times bigger."
Lu Yao considered that with Lightning’s flying speed and Xu Yi being out for nine days, the area he had traversed was far larger than the biggest prairie.
Maybe even more than two to three times larger.
Who knows how many of such vast grasslands there are? Lu Yao thought that another one might be enough to sustain all of humanity.
Because the soil was incredibly thick on this prairie; even digging down ten meters revealed rich black earth.
Normally, in such fertile areas with thick soil layers, forests would thrive rather than prairies.
This indicated that the ecological environment of this world was markedly different from their original world.
This place would be particularly suitable for developing into fertile fields.
Lu Yao thought Xu Yi chose this location as a base with such considerations in mind.
"Time flies, over forty days have passed, and we’ve stayed in the same place. The next hundred days will likely be challenging for us." Lu Ke played with a Brain Crystal in her hand, expressing her concern.
They initially thought of catching up with Xu Yi, but now they realized that Xu Yi’s progress was beyond their reach.
Moreover, the longer time passed, the greater the gap would become.
When Xu Yi reaches level 6, will they still be able to keep up?
Lu Ke’s concern was shared by others in the team. However, no one voiced it openly.
Frankly, they had worked hard without slacking off.
Yet, progress was slow.
Among them, Lu Ke’s progress was the most noticeable, with her strength being notably above others.
"Let’s eat, stop overthinking. All we need to do is our best; worrying more won’t help." Cheng Jie said as she served the dishes on the table.
After the meal, they took a short rest before returning to their cultivation practice.
Their Fierce Beast mounts were all level 5, so even in case of a beast attack, these mounts could hold the line for quite a while.
Thus, they could focus on their training while leaving the task of vigilance to their mounts.
Once deep in training, time seemed to fly by.
The same was true for Xu Yi, who had been relentlessly practicing martial techniques—Rock Shattering.
Over and over, tirelessly training.
The sky quickly brightened.
"System, punch in."
After completing his practice, Xu Yi checked in.
Today marked the 250th day of check-ins and the 45th day at the third challenge point.
In a blink, the current hundred-day period was already halfway through.
Xu Yi felt this hundred-day segment seemed to pass much quicker than the previous one.
Maybe it was because of nonstop traveling over these forty-plus days, without a pause for proper training.
After putting breakfast on to cook, Xu Yi resumed his Body Tempering practice.
Once finished, the breakfast was ready.
Breakfast was meat porridge, made from the meat of the Arrow-backed Giant Lizard. Xu Yi diced it into small pieces, added some fragrant rice, and cooked it until done.
Once cooked, Xu Yi found the porridge had a rich, thick texture, making it particularly tasty.
After breakfast, Xu Yi exited the tent.
The Arrow-backed Giant Lizard seemed only partially recovered, appearing slightly listless.
Xu Yi packed up the tent and then gave the Arrow-backed Giant Lizard some fresh meat.
Xu Yi intended to continue searching for solitary level 5 peak Fierce Beasts to try out his newly learned martial techniques—Rock Shattering, before exploring the level 6 Fierce Beast territories.
He instructed the Arrow-backed Giant Lizard to stay put.
With Lightning around, Xu Yi wasn’t worried about not finding his way back.
He then mounted Lightning, soaring into the sky.
In the forest, there were all sorts of lizard-like Fierce Beasts. Besides the White-backed and Arrow-backed Giant Lizards, Xu Yi found several other types.
Thus, he decided to name them.
One type had many protrusions, resembling a turtle shell, which Xu Yi named the Turtle-backed Giant Lizard.
Another kind had dark red scale armor, which Xu Yi called the Dark Red Giant Lizard.
The last one had green spots on its scale armor, which he named the Green-spotted Giant Lizard.
These Giant Lizards had quite distinctive appearances.
The largest was the Green-spotted Giant Lizard, as big as an elephant.
The smallest was the Dark Red Giant Lizard, only the size of a reindeer, but its teeth appeared the sharpest. Additionally, their groups tended to be quite large, living in clusters of ten or so.
Finding a solitary Fierce Beast was not an easy task.
A whole day passed, and Xu Yi hadn’t found a single one.
Nonetheless, Xu Yi was getting closer to the level 6 Fierce Beast territory.
At the same time, Lightning became increasingly reluctant to fly towards the level 6 Fierce Beast territory.
It sensed immense danger over there and resisted instinctively.
Had it not been for Xu Yi, it would have turned around long ago.
Just as Xu Yi was considering a spot to rest, he suddenly saw a black shadow swiftly passing in the distance.
It was not a lizard-like Fierce Beast, but a feline one, twice the size of a tiger.
It was alone.
This could work!
