Living Only For Myself: Make Those Who Hate Me Regret It
Chapter 371 - 370: Some Advantages That Other Women Can’t Match
As Zhou Mochen returned from his phone call and was about to sit down, Shen Chen asked, "Back in Beijing and already so busy?"
"It’s a private matter," Zhou Mochen said, turning his head to look at Xu Su beside him. He took her hand and said, "Come with me somewhere tomorrow."
Xu Su asked curiously, "Where are we going?"
"You’ll know when we get there." Zhou Mochen chuckled. "Don’t worry, I’m not going to sell you."
"Keeping it a secret, are you?" Xu Su blinked. "If I really get sold, you can just go cry in a corner."
"That won’t happen." Shen Chen cut in from the side. "Don’t you worry. I can’t speak for other places, but here in Beijing, even if someone had the guts to sell you, I guarantee no one would have the guts to buy you."
"...Shen Chen!" Xu Su shouted angrily, slapping at his elbow which was resting on the table. "What’s that supposed to mean!"
’I was just making a casual remark, and he’s taking it so seriously!’
It was as if he thought she was really stupid enough to be sold. Xu Su glared at him. "You’re the one who’s going to get sold!" 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
Zhou Mochen reacted quickly, catching her raised hand. "Careful, you might get burned by the hot tea."
"Exactly, exactly. How can a young lady be so fierce?" Shen Chen also looked over with a smile. "A gentleman uses his words, not his fists. Don’t you know that?"
In Xu Su’s eyes, that grin was infuriatingly punchable. It made her teeth itch with frustration.
Zhou Mochen shot Shen Chen a look. "Give it a rest."
"Alright, alright..." Shen Chen raised both hands, tilting his head to smile at Xu Su. "My mistake. Let’s just say that even if *I* were to be sold, Xu here wouldn’t be. Is that better?"
Xu Su: "..."
’She wasn’t about to take his words seriously. Shen Chen was no one to be trifled with; he was more likely to be the one selling others.’
Xu Su snorted huffily and ignored him, taking Zhou Mochen’s hand and beginning to play with it.
Shen Chen stayed for a little while longer before taking a call and excusing himself.
Zhou Mochen gave Xu Su a brief tour of the villa to familiarize her with the place. By the time they finished, dusk was settling in.
As the city lights began to glow, the hour hand on the clock pointed to seven. Zhou Mochen led Xu Su by the hand into a clubhouse, and the two of them went straight to the top floor.
The moment she stepped out of the elevator and rounded a corner, Xu Su saw Shen Chen leaning against the floor-to-ceiling observation window at the end of the corridor. A cigarette was pinched between his fingers as he nonchalantly watched the pedestrians bustling below.
From his vantage point, the people walking on the ground looked as small as ants.
’This guy seems a little emo...’
But what was unfair was that even when Young Master Shen was feeling emo, he still exuded an air of unattainable aloofness.
Xu Su was puzzled. ’He seemed perfectly fine this afternoon. How did he get so broody in just a few hours?’
She called out a "Hey!" in his direction.
Shen Chen glanced up, his eyes flickering slightly. He straightened his body, instantly switching from his melancholic state to a devil-may-care air. He pointed to the open door of a private room nearby and said with a smile, "We were just waiting for you two. Go on in."
Xu Su had been here many times in her past life, so she was fairly familiar with the place. It was a members-only private clubhouse, and money alone wasn’t always enough to get you in. There were far too many rich and powerful people in Beijing; if a tile fell off a roof, it would likely hit a bureau chief.
In Beijing, every social stratum had its own circle. An outsider could only get a foot in the door if brought by an insider, and this clubhouse was a prime example.
The entire top floor contained only two private rooms, both permanently reserved and not open to the public. They came with private observation decks, a game room for cards and chess, a karaoke room, and even suites for resting.
In short, whatever these young masters wanted for entertainment, the place provided it all in one stop. There was no need to go anywhere else.
Inside the private room, no one was seated at the round, wooden dining table yet.
However, a few people were standing in small groups on the observation deck, while others were playing a game of chess at a table to the side.
Before Xu Su even reached the doorway, she heard someone inside talking about her.
It was Xie Si. He had his arm around a girl’s waist, sitting next to Jiang Baiyi and watching him play chess, but his mouth wasn’t idle. "Baiyi, what do you think a woman who could make our Young Master Zhou’s iron tree bloom must look like?"
"How should I know?" Jiang Baiyi wasn’t particularly interested in his friend’s girlfriend. He picked up a game piece and placed it on the board. "She’ll be here in a minute. You can take a good look for yourself then."
"Aren’t you even a little bit curious?" Xie Si asked. "He was so protective when we asked him to bring her out, going on about ’this isn’t allowed’ and ’be careful with that.’ Maybe she’s really a goddess descended from the heavens."
Jiang Baiyi truly wasn’t curious. He was more interested in figuring out how to win this game against Tu Yu than he was in Zhou Mochen’s girlfriend.
He hummed in acknowledgment and said casually, "Well, if Brother Zhou took a liking to her, she must have some qualities that other women can’t match."
Hearing this, Xie Si gave a thoughtful smile and was about to say more, but just then, the very subject of their conversation appeared in the doorway. Everyone inside looked over.
Xu Su stood in the doorway, her gaze fixed on Xie Si. She tilted her head, smiled at him, and even gave a little wave. Then, pointing to herself, she said, "This is what I look like."
Everyone: "..."
The room fell completely silent.
The girl in the doorway wore a rose-colored, Chanel-style, knee-length dress and a pair of nude, low-heeled sandals. Her slightly curled hair cascaded down. It was meant to be a gentle, sweet, and completely unthreatening ensemble.
But her personal radiance was so dazzling that it clashed with her gentle, sweet attire, creating a stark contradiction.
The girl’s lashes lifted slightly, and her shimmering eyes seemed to overflow with light. Anyone caught in her gaze would momentarily forget where they were.
This was the kind of beauty that clothes couldn’t possibly suppress.
Even wrapped in rags, she couldn’t have hidden her beauty.
Every single person in the room could be considered worldly and well-traveled. The women who caught their attention, even the hostesses at nightclubs, had all been through a rigorous selection process and were absolutely one-in-a-million beauties.
What kind of stunning beauties hadn’t they seen before? And yet, even so, they couldn’t help but hold their breath, struck speechless by her astounding appearance.
The room was so quiet that several seconds passed without a word. Xu Su blinked. ’Did my friendly little greeting really have that much of an impact?’
’Could it be that they never imagined the girl Zhou Mochen brought would have such a personality?’
’Compared to her aloof and indifferent attitude in her past life, her current personality was indeed a bit too vivacious.’
Just as Xu Su’s mind began to wander, she was pulled inside by an expressionless Zhou Mochen.
Shen Chen, standing beside them, couldn’t help but laugh. "Xie Er, you were talking about someone behind their back and got caught red-handed. How’s that feel?"
His words broke the room’s silence. Xie Si snapped out of it, gave a light cough, and smiled amicably at Xu Su. "My apologies, Miss Xu. I just have a bit of a big mouth."
’I already knew that,’ Xu Su thought.
This circle of people in the private room all had personal ties to Zhou Mochen, so Xu Su had interacted with them frequently in her past life. In her opinion, Xie Si was the only one in their group whose outside matched his inside.
After all, with a legitimate older brother in line ahead of him, inheriting the family business was not his concern. He had grown up accustomed to a life of leisure, and both inside and out, he was the classic rich-but-dumb, pleasure-seeking, womanizing young master.
