Lord of All Gods
Chapter 1983 Not Going To Die
"What am I supposed to say when my senior brother comes back and finds someone missing?" Gong Wanting asked Ye Liuyun.
"You just need to tell him that they didn’t come back after going out with me for a day. Leave the rest to me," Ye Liuyun replied immediately.
Ye Liuyun and the others waited for another two days before Mr. Jian and the his gang returned.
During these two days, they had already fully absorbed the dragon’s blood.
Now, they were just waiting for Young Master Jian to come back so they could leave this place quickly.
Upon their return, Young Master Jian and his companions noticed that two people were missing from Ye Liuyun’s group, and they immediately started asking questions.
"They died!" Ye Liuyun told Mr. Jian. "I brought them to explore the dragon’s cave but they never came back because of the numerous arrays inside."
"You explored the dragon’s lair? What did you find?" Young Master Jian asked with obvious frustration.
"We didn’t even get inside, so how could we find anything?" Ye Liuyun retorted.
Mr. Jian did not believe Ye Liuyun at all, he immediately turned to Gong Wanting and asked, "Weren’t you supposed to watch over them? Tell me what happened?"
Seeing Mr. Jian franticly accusing her, Gong Wanting stopped feeling guilty.
She told Mr. Jian, "How could I keep an eye on all of them by myself? After you left, Master Ye brought along two men saying they were going to scout and came back by himself the next day. He then told me the other two died and never returned."
"Why didn’t you go with them?" Young Master Jian questioned her.
Gong Wanting immediately countered, "They didn’t want take me with them, how could I dare to follow? Besides, they only said they were going to scout, they didn’t mention anything about exploring the dragon’s cave!"
"Haih, you..." Mr. Jian was left helpless against Gong Wanting’s response.
He was too lazy to argue with Gong Wanting. He asked Ye Liuyun to bring him and his companions to the dragon cave.
"Sure, we’ll lead you there, but we are not going. The area inside is filled with spell formations; we dare not try it again!"
Ye Liuyun didn’t decline either, promptly leading the group to set off.
No matter what Ye Liuyun would say, Mr. Jian would not believe until he see it with his own eyes.
When they arrived at the pile of rubble, Ye Liuyun told Mr. Jian that they had killed the stone guardian and directly led them to the dragon cave.
Ye Liuyun also advised Mr. Jian, "I suggest you to not enter, the area is filled with spell formations. But if you insist on going in and risking your lives, I won’t stop you. We’ll wait for you here for two days at most. If you don’t come out within two days, we will just leave!"
"You won’t go in and scout for us?" Mr. Jian asked back. "We hired you mainly for this cave."
Ye Liuyun explained, "It’s not that I don’t want to carry out my duty, I’ve told you that we’ve been inside and lost two people. The dangers inside are more then what we can handle. We can’t just enter knowingly that death is waiting for us right?"
Then, Ye Liuyun and his group just moved aside.
No matter what Swordsman Prince would say, they just would not go in. Even if Swordsman Prince offered more money, they were unmoved.
"You didn’t set up the spell formation in the cave, did you?" Mr. Jian began to doubt Ye Liuyun and his team.
"Mr. Jian, you flatter us! If we could set up such formations, we would have taken over the entire battlefield on the frontier long ago." Ye Liuyun laughed.
In the end, Mr. Jian had no choice but to send his only remaining male disciple to enter for investigation. Within fifteen minutes, a loud scream came from the inside of the cave along with a big blaze. Then everything went silent.
Helplessly, Swordsman Prince turned to look at Gong Wanning again.
Gong Wanting said quickly, "My strength is no better than the senior who just went in. It would be a waste for me to enter!"
At this moment, Young Master Jian also felt the same way. Gong Wanting’s strength was too weak, she probably wouldn’t be able to find out much even if she went in.
He looked at everyone, and now only Elder Song was left.
Elder Song’s task was to protect him, not to scout the way for him. If he didn’t go in, there was no way he could command Elder Song to go in and scout for him.
Only when he entered would Elder Song follow to protect him.
"Why don’t you go in yourself if you’re so interested! Why do you insist on sending others to their deaths? Could it be that you don’t dare to go in?" Lei Ming provoked from the side.
At this time, Mr. Song spoke, "Sacred disciple, let me accompany you in to see the situation. If it doesn’t work, we’ll retreat."
He also felt that Young Master Jian was too indecisive. If he wanted to go in, just go in, if it didn’t work out, quickly retreat and leave. Hanging around here wasting time was pointless.
"I’m grateful for your assistance, Mr. Song!" There was no other way, so Mr. Jian could only go in with Mr. Song.
They proceeded with great caution, observing their surroundings as they walked.
The initial section of the cave was a large straight path, with a very spacious entrance.
"There hasn’t been anyone in this cave for a long time. Judging by the footprints, not many people have come in these past few days," Elder Song analyzed.
Soon, they arrived at the location where a disciple had died earlier. The air still smelled of blood, and there on the ground was a charred corpse. Judging by the long sword lying on the ground, it most likely belonged to the disciple.
Upon detailed inspection by Mr. Song and Mr. Jian, they found no signs of any formation. There were also several skeletal remains nearby, presumably all burned to death.
They exchanged glances, both looking perplexed.
"I’ll walk ahead, and you keep a distance behind me!" Elder Song finally said with a sense of resignation.
He noticed that Mr. Jian seemed reluctant to lead the way, which left him slightly disappointed.
Thereafter, he step over the disciple’s body and slowly walked forward.
After a short course, Mr. Jian finally dared to follow seeing that there was no spell formation had been triggered.
“Huh? Why isn’t there any movement?” Lei Ming outside also curiously asked Ye Liuyun.
“Don’t rush! Mr. Song has a higher realm, the spell formations won’t trigger immediately. By the time they realize what’s happening, it’ll be too late to escape.” Ye Liuyun told Lei Ming.
Their group, all waiting outside the cave, was expecting to hear screams from inside.
Mr. Song walked further in yet he still had not encountered any spell formation even as he was nearing the end of the path.
He was currently puzzled at what was happening. Suddenly, there was a flash of light that quickly grew.
“Retreat quickly!”
Mr. Song immediately discerns that the spell formation has been triggered and hastily instructed Mr. Jian to run back.
At this time, the ball of light suddenly sprang forward. It was a fire kirin generated by the array, and it chased Elder Song with super fast speed.
“Ah!”
Mr. Song let out a scream as he got engulfed in flames. His entire body was already protected by his genuine energy but it still could not withstand the fire kirin’s assault.
Following next, the fire kirin charged towards Mr. Jian. However, its power was significantly weaker.
Mr. Jian was running for his life out of the cave. Even though he had heard Mr. Song’s scream, but he did not look back.
However, his speed could not beat the on of the fire kirin’s. He had two layes of protective garment and was protected by his genuine enerygy. The fire kirin failed to burn him to death.
