Love Across the Light Years -The Devil CEO Indulges My Lies.
Chapter 170: You cannot sign this investment contract —no matter what.
Vile?
Jasper’s eyes narrowed as he tried to understand where that accusation had come from.
However, no matter how he tried to make sense of it ...
He simply couldn’t.
"You —do you even know what you’re saying?" he asked, looking at him as though he had lost his mind.
Karl only pursed his lips and stared back. "Of course, I know what I’m saying." He paused, then repeated firmly, "I’m calling you vile —and that’s exactly what you are."
"Karl Warren," Jasper’s voice dropped, deep and edged with warning, "don’t test me. You know I don’t have unlimited patience for you."
Karl stared at him, his eyes widening in pure disbelief —as if he truly couldn’t understand his brother at all. He pointed a finger at himself.
"I—I’m testing you?"
Jasper held his gaze."What do you think?"
Karl parted his lips to argue, but then snapped them shut with a huff.
"No, I think you are the one testing me," he shot back. "You’re pushing me to my limits. Crossing my bottom line. How could you do something like this?"
Jasper stared at him, still unable to grasp what exactly he had done.
It was then that Karl abruptly pointed toward Dylan and said—
"How could you make Big Brother sign that investment contract when you clearly know it’s immoral?"
Jasper’s brows furrowed deeply."What?" he asked, glancing at the file in Dylan’s hand.
"Immoral?" he repeated, incredulous. "Since when did signing investment contracts become immoral for businessmen?"
Dylan, who had been quietly reading, finally looked up. He hadn’t caught the full context of their argument —but he didn’t ask. He simply watched them, silent and unreadable.
Karl glanced between both his brothers, his chest rising and falling as anger surged within him.
He knew he hadn’t supported his sister-in-law at first. He had resisted her. Refused to accept her.
But he had already acknowledged his mistake. And now that he had accepted her —he meant it.
So much so that he wouldn’t hesitate to stand against his own brothers if necessary.
His lips trembled slightly as he steadied himself and stepped directly in front of Jasper.
It took courage —real courage —to stand against Jasper. Especially with Dylan present.
But the moment he thought of who he was doing this for—
His resolve hardened instantly.
His sister-in-law had accepted him. There was no way he would betray her now.
"Signing investment contracts isn’t immoral for businessmen, but—" he paused, then pointed sharply at the file, "—signing that is immoral for Big Brother. And you’re pushing him toward that. How could you do that?"
Jasper’s confusion only deepened.
He turned and exchanged a brief glance with Dylan before looking back at Karl.
His expression was completely blank."What does that even mean?" he asked. "Speak in a language humans understand."
Karl’s lips pressed into a thin line.
The more he thought about it, the more his blood boiled. Disappointment surged stronger than anger.
But still—
He was willing to explain.
Maybe ... just maybe ... Jasper truly didn’t understand what he was doing.
Taking a deep breath, Karl finally spoke.
"You heard Eira call someone ’Mama,’ didn’t you?"
Jasper thought for a second and frowned, but nodded. "Yes. So?"
"And you heard me call her sister-in-law?" Karl continued.
Jasper nodded again, growing impatient."Get to the point."
"Then you already know there’s a woman we’ve accepted for Big Brother," Karl said, pausing before adding, "the one he should take responsibility for ... after what happened at Imperial View."
Jasper’s expression shifted slightly as understanding began to settle in.
And just as it did—
Karl delivered the final blow.
"Since you know all that," he said, his voice sharp, "how can you still push Big Brother toward another woman? Aren’t you forcing him into something wrong? Do you even realize what could happen if he crosses that line?"
Jasper stared at him.
Completely. Utterly. Speechless.
All this time —This was what the brat had been thinking?
He parted his lips to explain ... but then stopped. For a moment, he genuinely didn’t know where to even begin.
Finally, he exhaled and said—
"You are ... overreacting."
Karl froze. Then his eyes widened dramatically and glared at Japser like asking him if he was saying that for real.
"Overreacting?" he repeated, letting out a disbelieving scoff. "I am overreacting?"
He pointed at the file again.
"Then tell me —you didn’t have any motive when you proposed this investment to Big Brother?"
"I—"
Jasper thought of explaining —
But Karl didn’t let him finish.
"That you weren’t suggesting this because of the actress involved?" he pressed. "Go on —deny it. Say this investment is about profit, not about promoting that one woman who is going to be the main cast in it."
Jasper pressed his lips together.
He had never realized his younger brother could be this articulate. If he had known, he might have underestimated him less.
Shaking his head, he gave up trying to deny it.
"Fine. I won’t deny it," he admitted.
He spread his hands casually."Yes, more than profit, this investment is about promoting the actress," he said, nodding. "I did come to use Big Brother’s money for that. Happy now?"
Karl opened his mouth, ready to fire back—
But no words came out. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
He was ... stunned.
Stunned by Jasper’s sheer shamelessness.
Was he really admitting it so casually?
How could he?
Was he really not ashamed?
Not even a bit?
"You—you ...!"
Jasper, for some reason, suddenly felt oddly satisfied watching him struggle like that.
It was ... entertaining.
He almost laughed—
But then held it back, wanting to enjoy this a little longer.
Karl, however, was at his limit already. He couldn’t take it anymore. Not when Jasper was acting so bravely brazen.
Anger churned inside him, but with Dylan present, he didn’t dare lose control completely.
So instead, he turned toward him and said firmly—
"Big Brother ... did you hear him?"
His voice carried urgency.
"You cannot sign this investment contract —no matter what."
