Love You for the Rest of My Life
Chapter 2192 - 2196: Missed You
Nangong Ran pursed her lips, feeling even more like crying. Ugh, she used to be the most talkative one in the house, often bantering back and forth with Li Hui and Nangong Tiancheng.
She was so used to their teasing that she almost forgot how much her parents actually loved her.
"Why are you crying more the more we talk?" Li Hui was anxious and couldn’t help but say, "Let me tell you, little rascal, it’s fine if you cry, but if you make my grandson unhappy, I’ll be upset with you!"
Nangong Ran: "..."
With Li Hui’s scolding, Nangong Ran stopped crying, but coquettishly said to Nangong Tiancheng, "Dad, shouldn’t you buy gifts for your grandson? Like, lots and lots of them!"
"Buy, buy, buy." Nangong Tiancheng nodded vigorously, "Buy until you’re happy!"
Everyone in the family was just so happy, and at this moment, Fang Hao’s phone rang.
Fang Hao picked it up and saw it was Di Mingchen calling, so she answered it.
"Mom." Di Mingchen’s voice came from the other end, asking gloomily, "Did you tell Xiaoran?"
Fang Hao was stunned for a moment, then immediately lied with her eyes open, "Not yet, I, I haven’t had the time."
Di Mingchen assumed Fang Hao was embarrassed to say it, so he fell silent, and after a long pause, he said, "Then I’ll tell her tonight."
"Okay." Fang Hao’s eyes curved into a smile, yet she maintained a facade of seriousness, "Then you two have a good talk tonight."
"Mm." Di Mingchen responded and then hung up the phone.
Fang Hao burst into laughter, then pulled Li Hui aside to gossip.
Di Mingchen called Nangong Ran again, and she answered.
"Xiaoran, when are you coming home?" Di Mingchen asked, "Do you want me to send someone to pick you up?"
"I..." Nangong Ran glanced at Li Hui, who gestured for her to eat.
"My mom wants me to eat before leaving." Nangong Ran answered.
"Okay." Di Mingchen nodded, "Then how about I come to pick you up at six-thirty?"
"No need, I’ll come back myself." Nangong Ran declined.
Di Mingchen, unsure how to approach the topic with Nangong Ran, said, "Alright, then let the driver bring you back, I’ll wait for you at home."
The two hung up the phone.
Li Hui started preparing dinner, and Nangong Ran was shooed off to sleep by the two.
Fang Hao also stayed for dinner at the Nangong Family’s house. Xuanxuan, Nangong Jin, Nangong Lin, and Nangong Yue all came back, and upon hearing the news, they were so happy they were almost beside themselves.
Nangong Tiancheng drank a lot, pulling Nangong Jin and Nangong Yue to drink heavily with him.
It wasn’t until eight in the evening that Nangong Ran returned to her apartment, with Fang Hao sending her off.
As she arrived downstairs, she saw the lights on in her home, glowing so warmly, warming her heart.
Her heart was a bit excited, constantly piecing together how to explain things to Di Mingchen.
She mused the whole way up the stairs, opened the door, and there he was, sitting on the sofa, with a TV program playing in front of him. Yet his gaze wasn’t focused on the TV, but downcast in thought.
He hadn’t changed clothes, still dressed in his military uniform, sitting there upright, seemingly pondering something.
The orange light cast a halo on his face, making him look like a beautiful painting sitting there.
Nangong Ran stood at the door, stunned, once again mesmerized by his looks, then quietly closed the door.
Though the sound wasn’t loud, the man had keen senses and hearing, and immediately snapped out of his thoughts, his deep, dark eyes turned to her.
The moment he saw her, a smile instantly appeared on his resolute and handsome face. He got up and walked straight toward her.
"You’re back." Di Mingchen smiled as he walked to the door, opened the shoe cabinet, and took out her slippers.
"Mm." Nangong Ran nodded, her face blushing, unable to resist looking at him shyly.
Di Mingchen’s eyes darkened, and before she could change into the slippers, he scooped her up in his arms.
"Ah, what are you doing?" Nangong Ran was startled, and instinctively hooked her arms around his neck.
"I missed you." He stared at her, a seductive smirk on his lips, lowered his head, his lips grazing hers, and asked in a melodious voice, "And you, did you miss your husband?"
