Love You for the Rest of My Life
Chapter 2230 - 2234: Please Take Care of Him
"Hello, Queen." Nangong Lin steadied her emotions slightly and greeted politely.
The Queen looked at her, grinning from ear to ear, which made Nangong Lin feel a bit insecure.
"Are you staying here too, Queen?" Nangong Lin asked, suddenly feeling a bit overwhelmed. How could she not feel overwhelmed if a Queen lived next door?
"I, oh, no." The Queen replied hurriedly, "It’s my Alvin who will be staying here, I just came to check."
"Oh." Nangong Lin nodded, "I see. But I’m curious, why does Prince Alvin want to develop here long-term?"
"The Empire has great resources!" The Queen laughed, almost revealing she was here to find a daughter-in-law.
Nangong Lin found this answer a bit amusing, but she nodded politely, "Ah, that’s great. Is there anything I can help with?"
"Yes, yes, yes." The Queen nodded eagerly.
"Oh." Nangong Lin looked at all the things by the door and was about to help when the Queen pulled her back.
"No, no, you don’t need to do this kind of manual work." The Queen held Nangong Lin’s hand, growing even fonder of her for this gesture.
The Queen’s sudden intimacy left Nangong Lin at a loss for what to do.
"Then what do I need to do?" Nangong Lin asked politely again.
The Queen seemed a bit embarrassed, "Since Alvin is developing here, I am not entirely at ease, but I love the Empire too; now that he lives next door to you, I’m much more reassured. I hope Miss Nangong, you can look after Alvin for me."
"Look after him?" Nangong Lin furrowed her brows.
"Not exactly." The Queen stammered a bit, "What I mean is, Alvin being here alone, having someone to accompany him would be nice. He’s aiming to develop his career here but isn’t familiar with many things in the Empire; having you would be beneficial!"
Even though the Queen didn’t express it very clearly, Nangong Lin basically understood what she meant.
Out of courtesy, Nangong Lin replied, "Sure, rest assured, as long as I’m here, Prince Alvin won’t be scammed."
The Queen couldn’t fully grasp Nangong Lin’s words, but she more or less understood that it meant she agreed to take care of Alvin.
"That’s incredibly kind of you!" The Queen excitedly hugged Nangong Lin and called her attendant to take out a small box.
When the box was opened, it nearly blinded Nangong Lin.
Inside the beautiful box were numerous pieces of jewelry and accessories, top-grade jade ornaments, dazzling diamonds, noble gemstones, an assortment of earrings, necklaces, and rings; everything was exquisite and of the highest quality.
Although the Empire is stronger than B Country, as a hereditary member of B Country’s Royal Family, equivalent to the mother of the country, could the Queen’s jewelry be lacking?
"These are all for you." The Queen said generously, "Wear whatever you like. If you don’t like these, I’ll have someone send a new batch in a few days, and you can choose according to your preference."
Nangong Lin’s eyes widened; she really shouldn’t be so surprised.
"This..." Even she, growing up in the top-class family of the Nangong, was dumbfounded by these top-grade jewels.
According to her experience, each piece of jewelry in this box was invaluable; any item taken out casually was top of its class, with each piece easily carrying a nine-digit price tag.
"This is too valuable!" Nangong Lin quickly declined in fright, "Queen, you are too kind, Alvin living next to me, neighbors looking after each other is a trivial task, you don’t need to give me these."
