Martial Arts: I Have a Wilderness World
Chapter 259 - 163: An Unexpected New Soul Slave
’Good. I can learn more through him in the future.’
As for the other one, Cheng Zongyang had never seen him before.
"Master."
After the two had adjusted, they knelt before Cheng Zongyang in unison and called out.
Cheng Zongyang didn’t answer, instead turning his attention to their Attributes.
——
Name: Luo Dingran (Modifiable)
Physique: 50
Power: 50
Endurance: 50
Agility: 40
Skill: None (Can copy the Soul Master’s own Skills. Can be upgraded, cannot be changed. Time remaining: 23:58:46)
Attribute Talent: Commander-in-Chief (Passive Talent, increases the four basic Attributes of those under command by 20%)
Unallocated Attribute Points: 20
——
Name: Zhang Jinquan (Modifiable)
Physique: 60
Power: 30
Endurance: 50
Agility: 40
Skill: None (Can copy the Soul Master’s own Skills. Can be upgraded, cannot be changed. Time remaining: 23:58:46)
Attribute Talent: Self-Healing (Passive Talent. When injured, possesses a healing speed 50% faster than an ordinary person.)
Unallocated Attribute Points: 20
——
Looking at their Attributes, Cheng Zongyang couldn’t help but smile.
’If I add these twenty Attribute Points to each of them, I bet their strength will reach the Seventh Grade.’
Immediately, Cheng Zongyang added Luo Dingran’s Attribute Points to Power.
His four basic Attributes were relatively balanced. Rather than distribute the points evenly, it was better to make one stand out.
His Commander-in-Chief Talent meant he was destined to manage all the Soul Slaves. Even if he wouldn’t be the first to charge into future battles, he couldn’t be weak.
Next were the Skills.
He glanced at his own Skill interface.
——
Skills: Archery (12352/20000, Specialization); Medicine (104/3000, Middle Level);
——
He hadn’t learned any new techniques during his time in the Inner Mountain. He couldn’t very well learn blacksmithing, carpentry, or tailoring, could he? Those weren’t skills one could pick up in just two or three days.
The main reason was that he simply didn’t have the time, so he hadn’t bothered.
After some thought, he remembered that the Skills of Soul Slaves created from Middle Level Crystal Stones could be upgraded. He immediately gave Archery to Luo Dingran. This would also enhance the combat prowess of his future manager.
Next up was Zhang Jinquan.
Given his Self-Healing Talent, he focused on Physique and Endurance, adding ten points to each.
For his Skill, he copied Medicine.
Finally, looking over their completed Attributes, he nodded slightly in satisfaction.
As their Attributes were finalized, Luo Dingran and Zhang Jinquan felt the changes within themselves. They both bowed their heads respectfully to Cheng Zongyang once more.
"Thank you for your gift, Master!"
"Rise," Cheng Zongyang responded. "From now on, just call me ’Milord’."
Next, Cheng Zongyang summoned Ma San and the other nine, introducing the two newcomers to the group.
Then, he addressed the crowd:
"Luo Dingran will be the supervisor here from now on. Ma San, you will be his deputy. Inform him of the rules and our affairs here."
"Yes, Milord!" Ma San said with a cupped-fist salute, showing no sign of objection.
"Zhang Jinquan, you will be in charge of all matters related to Medicine. Spend your time researching the various Medicinal Materials and formulas here. Han Mo and Jing Xuan also have the Medicine Skill, so they can assist you. Let them know some of the formulas as well. By the way, there are three volumes of the Inner Canon of the Yellow Emperor on the shelves in the cabin. You can take a look at those."
"Yes, Milord. This lowly one has remembered," Zhang Jinquan replied with a cupped-fist salute.
Afterward, Cheng Zongyang dismissed Ma San and the others to their duties and stayed behind to learn about the two newcomers’ past lives and experiences.
Once they started talking, Cheng Zongyang showed no intention of stopping.
Cheng Zongyang already knew about Luo Dingran’s identity, so his surprise was fleeting. However, Zhang Jinquan’s background was quite astonishing.
He was actually a Martial Physician!
As the name implies, he was a Doctor who specialized in treating Martial Artists. In his former life, he was also a Seventh Grade Martial Artist who later died from a potent poison.
This poison wasn’t administered by someone else; it was the result of him repeatedly testing formulas on himself, causing toxins to accumulate in his body. If not for his strength and powerful Physique, he would have died from his experiments long ago. But in the end, the accumulated poisons erupted, killing him.
You could say Zhang Jinquan was a man obsessed with medicine.
What excited Cheng Zongyang even more was that Zhang Jinquan possessed numerous medicinal formulas and special recipes specifically for a Martial Artist’s Cultivation.
Luo Dingran provided him with a wealth of intelligence on Da Liang, the Gate Valves, and the Noble Families.
Zhang Jinquan gave him thirteen effective formulas to aid a Martial Artist’s Cultivation, nine formulas to treat Martial Artist ailments, and four special formulas he had discovered by accident.
For Cheng Zongyang, this was an enormous windfall, an absolute win!
For more than a day afterward, Cheng Zongyang was like a sponge, tirelessly absorbing the vast amount of intelligence and information from the two of them.
The gains were simply unimaginable.
But in the current situation, the greatest prize was one of the special formulas Zhang Jinquan wrote down—a recipe he discovered by accident: the Five Grains Inner Replenishing Pill.
Originally, Zhang Jinquan had intended to create an Inner Replenishing Pill that could quickly restore a Martial Artist’s depleted qi and blood after a battle.
However, after one refining attempt, one of his disciples, curious about its effects, secretly ate one.
He was shocked to find that his disciple didn’t feel hungry for three whole days, despite not eating.
Zhang Jinquan knew the pill he had refined shouldn’t have had that effect. Only after questioning his disciple did he learn the reason.
It turned out the disciple had just finished a meal, and knowing the Inner Replenishing Pill contained no poisonous ingredients, he secretly ate one to try it out. This led to the subsequent discovery.
Through later experiments, he learned that if one had a stomach full of food like grains, taking one Inner Replenishing Pill would keep them from feeling hungry for three days.
Zhang Jinquan knew this formula had deviated from his original goal, but he continued to research it. Later, he tried adding grain powder to the medicinal powder during the refining process.
He eventually created a version that didn’t require being eaten after a meal and could still stave off hunger for three days.
Of course, one still needed to drink water.
Thus, this accidentally discovered recipe was named the Five Grains Inner Replenishing Pill by Zhang Jinquan.
The formula consisted of common Medicinal Materials, with only one ingredient required in a larger quantity. Because of this, and since it wasn’t the true Inner Replenishing Pill he wanted to create, Zhang Jinquan had never continued to develop it.
But to Cheng Zongyang, this recipe was a lifesaver!
With this recipe, he could completely replace grain and help the residents hold out until the harvest.
As for Medicinal Materials, while grain might be hard to find in the County Towns, there was definitely no shortage of Medicinal Materials.
He memorized this formula, which could be used in the current emergency, planning to use it later.
By the time he had learned most of what he could from the two of them, Cheng Zongyang belatedly realized that more than a day had passed.
Leaving matters there in their hands, Cheng Zongyang left the Wilderness World and hurried back toward the County Town.
Fortunately, nothing was amiss in the County Town, so he returned to his residence. For now, he had no plans to leave.
After midnight, Cheng Zongyang entered the Wilderness World again, preparing to practice the Breath-holding Technique.
Just then, a notification tone indicating a completed upgrade sounded from the marketplace cabin, and an interface appeared before him—
[Marketplace Cabin update complete. Current Level: Level 3. The following updates have been installed:
1. Consignment Tab added. Items produced in the Wilderness World can be put up for consignment. Consignment price is set by the user. A 16% handling fee in Points will be deducted upon successful sale (the higher the cabin’s Level, the lower the fee). No fee is charged for failed consignments. The Consignment Tab starts with three slots, which increase with the cabin’s Level. Items of the same type can be stacked in each slot with no limit on quantity or size. The consignment period is three days.
2. Authorization Management function added to the Marketplace Cabin. This includes, but is not limited to, granting authorized use of the Acquisition, Inventory, Procurement, and Consignment tabs, as well as other partial functions. The authorization interface can be summoned for management.
3. The Appraisal function has been detached from the Marketplace Cabin and is now a portable function. Appraisal fees remain unchanged. For use within the Wilderness World only.
4. Procurement Tab handling fee reduced to 16%. All other aspects remain unchanged.
——
After reading the update details on the panel, Cheng Zongyang stroked his chin, feeling quite excited.
It was safe to say this update brought tangible benefits. The existence of the Consignment Tab meant he could now sell his own items, which was equivalent to gaining a new source of Points.
As for the authorization management, the appraisal function, and the handling fees, they were all pretty good.
Afterward, Cheng Zongyang turned his attention to the interior of the marketplace cabin.
The style and environment of the cabin hadn’t changed, but its area had increased.
Cheng Zongyang measured it and found that it had expanded from just over twenty square meters to more than thirty.
It might not seem like much, but it was a tangible increase in space.
This meant he now had an extra ten square meters of storage space.
