Master Of None
Chapter 2927. Stay Out Of The Clash
"Does this make a dungeon a plant then?" Remey was thinking about it and this seemed to be the best thought process when trying to figure out dungeons.
She could tell that this was a seed of sorts even after what Walker had explained from the oddity of his broken appraisal. She had almost been frustrated by the fact that Walker’s appraisal had been a bit of a mess, but after realizing that they were starting to touch on subjects that she couldn’t even comprehend, it was ok with her for now.
However, she also understood that if the dungeons were an odd mana plant sort of thing, then they would perfectly fit the theories about them already.
Dungeons needed manas to function. They absorbed those manas over certain times and then opened allowing for their internal space to be hunted in, explored in, and even being places for rest and safety. They offered the fruit of what they grew and returned themselves to an ideal state when dormant and absorbing manas.
That was nearly the same as a fruit tree or herb in the greenhouses made. They would grow, become harvested when the time was right, then continue to grow again. Plus, it required specific forms of care and mana to allow all of this to happen.
Therefore, dungeons were plants.
"We already saw that light moss that needs care. We can’t even begin to give it because of how strict and high quality it is, so what about dungeons? They could be a spatial and mana based plant that requires the same extremely strict care in different ways. You can’t do it really but you can find a work around to make it somewhat happen."
She was making good points while Walker was still catching his breath and looking at the small dungeon seed he knew was a fire elemental dungeon. But he also knew that it would be hard to replicate this process and make it even more proof worthy.
He also had no idea if he would want anyone to hear this process and attempt it themselves. Partially because of the dangers that came with it, and also partially because there was a simple reason that they couldn’t attempt this and trying to do so would be foolish.
The people of Genesis were too weak to manage to copy Walker’s process right now. It would take a hundred mages even to begin trying to condense an elemental plane. And that meant those hundred mages were of the right affinity and had the right experiences. Not to mention the right skills at the right knowledge levels.
From there, they would need to be able to work at a level that inspired the same goals that Walker had while also matching the additional affinities like space mana affinity itself.
All things that were well out of reach for Gneieiss as a whole.
Yet, that did not mean he couldn’t begin to share small pieces of what happened.
"I can share a little of what we did and we can hide some more facts for now. The other leaders of Genesis are becoming larger and more interconnected with the various races we have. The council is not small any more. But that is besides the point. What I want to get at is that not every single one of them even wants to try what we just did. So, we can share more with the leaders to give them larger goals for their people in the future while we hold key points to ourselves until we see the right time to share more." 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞
He felt bad telling Su and Remey that they had to withhold information from the people of Genesis. Up to this point they had been pretty clear on everything. But lately, more and more pieces of information were too dangerous or would cause panic. It was just the burden that leaders had to carry.
Let alone a burden that leaders who faced a vast unknown grander than they even understood had to hold on their shoulders.
Realizing that Su had yet to say anything, Remey and Walker watched her carefully and realized she was entirely caught up in her own mind. Yet, she snapped to attention when she realized that two pairs of eyes were on her and waiting for a response.
"I need you to have me meet more elemental planes. I want to feel the pressure and resist them. It’s the best way for my new skill to grow." She started to show them the all mana resistance skill leaving both Remey and Walker awestruck.
"This is the perfect skill for you! You work your butt off getting stronger and protecting people. If you keep doing that you can be the best shield ever!" Remey’s excitement was instant. She understood exactly how this would make Su feel and how proud Su would be to have achieved a skill that was so strict to possess. Not to mention how valuable it would be to Su as she grew more and more.
"I agree, Remey has a point. This skill is an award for all your hard work. You deserve it and I can make sure we pass by some strong manas on your way back. But only if you are the one that presents the findings of our experiments here." Walker smirked a bit, but also saw that Su was a little happier hearing this.
She had somewhat expected that Walker would just take the lead as usual. But having him entrust this to her meant that he was making sure her idea to make a dungeon was the core of their discoveries and accomplishments. It also showed his direct trust in her ability to manage the people who heard their discoveries and what they should and should not share with everyone thus far.
Not to mention, allowing her to keep carving out her path as someone who protected and cared for the people as a whole. She had already done so, but continuing this and showing she had more versatility in knowledge instead of just defense would mean a lot to the growth of her image in the eyes of the people of Genesis.
They spent some time talking about the appraisals and Su’s skill while also chatting about what beings might be out in the chaotic mana. It also stopped for a moment on the fact that other elemental planes and worlds or something similar might be out there. Walker didn’t entertain this much though, he felt like talking about this was asking for trouble, no, it was mocking the safety they felt like they had when in reality safety was just a feeling and not a fact.
As they made the choice to leave and head toward the bridge to the elemental planes, Walker noticed small beetles flying through the area. A small swarm of what could be called forty or fifty of them traveling.
’Chaos mana beetles
These beetles only move through areas about to undergo chaotic mana waves. This is because the chaotic mana will cause their exoskeletons to shed which is the best time for them to lay their eggs. Their strong defenses that protect them from manas also cause them to stagnate and be unable to lay eggs. It also makes them slower to eat and absorb mana.
They are small and often travel in larger numbers. They will feed on the manas from dying elemental planes, random clashing elemental planes, or from materials left behind by larger beings and monsters. They are not dangerous but will cause frustration in...’
They saw the various colors realizing that these beetles had various affinities to manas. They also appeared like jewels almost since their shells were so tough and dense with mana resistant growth.
Walker saw that at the very end of the appraisal that their shells were valuable to make trinkets and accessories so he somewhat wished to collect them. Yet, staying in an area where manas might class did not sit well with him. He instead pushed Remey and Su to move away even faster from this area.
It was well worth moving quickly too. Only a few moments later wind mana and water mana clashed as two small elemental planes collided. It might have been intentional or accidental, but that didn’t seem to matter. The two were clashing and melding violently in to one another.
It was how this should be in this area. It would never be orderly and calm here unless the greater elemental planes expanded even more to push space like this further. Time would tell though.
For now, the three began their journey back and wondered if everyone else was doing alright while they were gone. They wanted to share their journey with everyone even if it was just a couple of weeks and not months and months as other journeys had been.
