Chapter 231: The Tired Huntress

[RANIA]

"Rani... Are you okay?" Jihoon asked even though he wasn’t looking too good himself.

For a man who was trapped in a cage that was determined to make his life a little too difficult than it already was, he was doing a good job pretending like it was all rainbows and sunshine.

Rania stopped in her tracks at the voice of her mate, making sure not to run because she knew that if she did, she would be fighting against herself and her choices once again.

She had forced him to be there and right now she had so much that she needed to work on. It was just a matter of time before she cracked and today wasn’t the day that she would break her fast for the man.

"You look terrible, Rani," Jihoon added when he noticed that she wasn’t saying a word. He was trying his luck but he also knew that none of this would make her change her mind.

However, that wasn’t his intention today. He wasn’t going to try and make things right, not when he had been here himself. He had triggered this, but at least they could try and make sure she was okay, right?

He cared for her and she wasn’t going to believe him, which wasn’t an issue, because they were at war and Rania would probably think that his caring was just him trying to buy his way to freedom that wasn’t going to come for a really long time.

"You should worry about yourself," Rania said as she walked out of the tent.

She was determined to show that she didn’t care, even though when Odelia dragged her to this space and she had relaxed, Rania knew it would be hard denying that she still cared for the man in the cage.

Maybe she would find a way out of this, but until then she had to stay on the sidelines. She had to put her vengeance first and everything else would follow, no matter what happened.

Outside, Rania could see the warriors aching up already.

Of course, they had won the war and had managed to cripple Calindra. Granted that wasn’t enough, but it was a good enough punishment for the man they had captured. Not that they would tell him that.

Having a pack that was literally insecure had to be the worst punishment that Jihoon could ever get. He was helpless and there wasn’t a thing that he could do to get him out of this state, and they all knew it too.

"The warriors are leaving first. We will follow them later with the prisoners," Kaia said when he noticed how absent-minded Raa looked.

He had also realized that she hadn’t slept and the fact that she had come from the tent went to show that she was disturbed. However, Kaia had known to never touch on anything Rania didn’t want them to.

Besides, right now they were at war and motions were easily the greatest distraction. Whatever Rania had done last night had to be the bravest thing that anyone would ever have done, and that too for an alpha wolf.

It wasn’t easy seeing a mate that was trapped and even resisting the urge to free them, but Kim Rania had managed to make sure that she didn’t mess with their plans.

That had to be some strong mentality she had because anyone else would have long been crippled.

"That’s good. Calindra was the easiest and we can’t take the Incayon warriors with us through the madness. They have to be home and protect the pack and our people," Rania said walking across the camp.

She loved what he was seeing. It was very obvious that she was glad that the Incayon wolves were harmed.

At least this time, Incat wouldn’t hate her as much because of their warriors. Granted, the Calindra waves would despise her, but that didn’t matter to Kim Rania.

The only thing she cared about was Incayon and no matter what happened and what she faced, she would always protect her home and her people.

"That’s understandable. The rogues will also have to go back home. However, the warriors I called upon will volunteer two of them who will go with us to the end of the road.

"I know you think that they will be facing harder choices, but don’t stress too much, little wolf. They will be fine.

"Besides, the smaller the team, the easier it will be for us to invade wherever we want to invade," Kaia said calmly as they waved at the warriors who were smiling casually at them.

They looked nothing like people who had been to war or even people who had seen so many people dead. They looked cheery and it was encouraging even though Kim Rania looked like she was about to lose her mind right now.

"Well then. Our next stop is the shelter in the south of Calindra," Rania said and Kaia looked at her like he was waiting for more information on what was there and why she had thought of that instantly.

It wasn’t an easy feat just waking up in deciding to go after a shelter that probably had nothing for them but they had to try right?

"What is on that side or wherever we are going next, Rani? Mind you you haven’t rested yet..." Kaia said and Rania just ignored the last bit of his sentence.

This wasn’t the time for her to rest.

She had started the chain reaction and she needed to make sure that she finished whatever she was doing at the moment.

It didn’t matter what was waiting for her and she didn’t care that she would probably pass out from fatigue.

There was a lot on her mind and she was worried that if she went to sleep, she would have to deal with a lot more when she woke up. She wasn’t ready for that kind of chaos, at least not yet.

"Yanna’s shelter. We let her go and gave her a headstart for a say, but we all know that the first place anyone goes to, when they are free, is the inkling of what had once felt like home.

"That is not even hard to tell at this point anyway. I know she lived on that side of the realms for the years she had been in hiding. She managed to cover her tracks from everyone, but I know her well, and I even put a tracker on her.

"I know that is where she has been living," Rania said so casually as if she didn’t just sound like a creepy stalker. Then again, the woman she was after wasn’t a normal woman.

Yanna Petrova was the bastard of the bastards and the only way to get to her was to make sure that she knew what she was looking for.

Just like Jihoon, Rania had studied Yanna and her patterns so well, that was why she hadn’t even been worried when Kaia had given Yanna a head start.

Rania had learned everything there ever was about Yanna Petrova, and it was in her findings that she had made a few good allies, like the one who was walking beside her right now.

She had gotten the jackpot of jackpots and right now, she was just glad that they were all on the same side.

"Let’s go hunting then."
