Chapter 1144: Peacefully

The God’s projection stared at the Demon King’s projection’s weird and playful ’smile’. Within his mind, his brain ran faster than any calculator or computing machine as he calculated every possible way the Demon King could betray him, and every possible solution to such a moment, running through countless scenarios in rapid succession.

After all, the possibility of betrayal sat as high as seventy percent. Of course, not everyone was betrayed by Demons, but that was only when either the Demon had nothing to gain and couldn’t be bothered, or the Demon simply couldn’t betray the person due to certain restrictions and circumstances in place.

The God’s mind flickered to the Mana Contract which the Acarnis Galaxy was known for, unfortunately such a thing didn’t exist in the Divinora Galaxy. Even if it didn’t exist in the Divinora Galaxy, it wouldn’t affect the contract between both of them, after all, the Demons had their Chaos Contract, but they didn’t usually use it as the Chaos Contract was seen as something only the weak and foolish amongst the Demons relied on.

A real Demon should be smart enough to rely on pure wordplay and not expect some higher force of existence to carry out justice for them.

The reason why the Demon King and the God’s projection couldn’t sign any form of contract was simple; both of them didn’t use the same type of energy. The God’s projection used Faith Energy, while the Demon King used Chaos Energy. And a contract required the same type of energy from both parties involved.

But of course, there were surely artefacts that could bypass this and allow people like the Demon King and God’s projection to enter a form of contract and eliminate the risk of betrayal, but at the end of the day, it was just an artefact. If one artefact could do a particular thing, best believe another artefact could most certainly do the reverse... if not something even worse.

"So, what do you plan to do after the great battle? And I mean you and your mini Demons, after all, spreading Faith takes a couple of years," the God asked calmly, as obviously the Demon King was simply supposed to retreat and vanish after that, while they would remain in secret contact.

"My Demons and I will remain in the Abyssal Realm, and I could just fake that I’ve received an epiphany that requires something like ten thousand years before I step into the next plane of existence, hence the reason every single Demon alive would be sealed within the Abyssal Realm until I come out of seclusion," the Demon King stated without missing a beat, as though he already had a plan and solution before the God’s projection even brought it up.

Although the Demon King’s projection didn’t say it, he too was in search of the Acarnis Galaxy Core, it was simply why he let his Demons run rampant across every single planet, after all, the Galaxy Core could be hidden anywhere, so every single planet had to be entered, explored, and then abandoned after they were done.

But now, the Demon King understood that a single Galaxy Core wasn’t enough, if not, he would have just stayed back, waited for the battle to hit its climax or rather, waited for the God’s projection to find the Galaxy Core, then he would pounce, seizing it and ascending alone without sharing anything.

"So, when I tear a hole in the Boundary that separates both the Upper Galaxy and the Lower Galaxy, you will simply follow behind, right?" the God’s projection asked calmly.

"Peacefully," the Demon King stated calmly, as though he was a good boy.

The reason the God’s projection hadn’t increased the possibility of being betrayed by the Demon King to ninety-five percent or even a hundred percent, but instead kept it at seventy percent, was quite simple; two heads were better than one.

Although the Demon King didn’t say it, the God’s projection wasn’t dumb enough to not know that the Demon King’s ultimate plan was also the same ascension. Although he didn’t list out the Demon King’s former plans and all that like the Demon King had done with him, he, the God’s projection, could guess as much with ease.

They both had the same goal. Two people, separated by Galaxy, race, and energies, yet bound by the same ultimate destination.

They both had been at it for possibly billions of years without winning or making any real progress, but now, with the same power and the same level of intellect working together, they could make immense progress. Besides, would one who had waited billions of years to achieve a particular goal truly risk it all just for betrayal? After all, this was their one true chance. If it failed because of betrayal, then it was back to square one, and they would never work together again, even if one side of the party didn’t die.

Even the Demon King himself wouldn’t risk his ascension just to pull a fast one over the seemingly dumb God’s projection before him. Risking billions of years of ambition, search, training, and sacrifices just for momentary seconds of satisfaction was not something even the most foolish being in existence would consider. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮

And both parties knew this perfectly well.

Besides, if they succeeded and actually accomplished their ascension, that meant they had at least built some sort of camaraderie, even if it was so weak that a mere breeze from a child’s breath could disrupt it, it was still something tangible. And with that fragile foundation of camaraderie, they could at least attempt to survive whatever awaited them in the Upper Galaxy.

After all, just like Anthony, they had already guessed that the Upper Galaxy was merciless, and they might experience something upon ascension that they could not yet comprehend. If they, the God and the Demon King, worked together, they might just survive and escape whatever dangers lay ahead.

But just as they could work together, one could also use the other as bait while they escaped; one might even sell out the other... but that might not work, as why would an upper being care about the knowledge a lower being possessed?

But before any of this, they had to succeed in their ascension first. Without that, all of these thoughts, plans, and possibilities were meaningless, and they could forget about whatever awaited them on the other side entirely.
