Monarch Night
Chapter 1259 - 31: Sin! (Double - Part 2)
He was directly stunned.
"The hell... where would there be more? We just cleared out a few bandit nests, and it’s all been handed out already..."
"Sister-in-law does Internal Affairs... our storeroom still has rats running around, and she got pissed..."
Xue Wanren recounted honestly: "I heard Boss Fang and the other three have already been chewed out several times..."
Everyone immediately realized how serious the problem was.
"Move it!"
Yu Zhongge turned and ran like his ass was on fire: "Hurry up and see if there’s any around here. We’re about to cross into Donghu State... If there really isn’t any, we’ll just find a few more mountain heads."
"..."
"Go go..."
Mo Gan Yun was the most active: "Sister-in-law usually doesn’t scold people. If we get yelled at just because we didn’t bring back any loot, I’ll feel like I can’t show my face."
"Yeah, let Boss Fang handle the getting-yelled-at part..."
"Worst comes to worst, you can count the loot off me..."
The four had already prepared for the worst.
Anyway, this time, they had to bring back loot. If they really couldn’t get any, they’d just ’loot’ Yu Zhongge and Xue Wanren! — they were the only two with a Space Ring.
...
Meanwhile, Fang Che was swaying along as he once again arrived at Wenxin Moxiang Bookstore.
The stream of people coming and going was still endless.
Martial Artists made up the majority.
Looked like the news that this store had the full set of "Conquer the World" and was openly selling it had already spread.
More and more people were coming to buy. He sniffed carefully; nothing.
The old man was still sitting at the door with a world-weary face.
"Five hundred taels!"
"Yes, five hundred taels!"
"You can always not buy!"
"Five hundred taels!"
"..."
"Fuck, why are you here again?"
This line came when the old man lifted an eyelid and saw Fang Che.
Hearing that, Fang Che’s suspicions were immediately confirmed.
Though it was vague, it didn’t stop him from trying a bluff.
"Yeah, I missed you."
Fang Che simply grabbed a stool and sat down next to the table where the old man was collecting money, smiling as he asked, "When do you close up? I’ll treat you to a drink, Senior?"
The old man snapped, "We don’t close. We don’t close all year round."
Fang Che squinted his eyes and smiled: "That’s too tiring. Sure, you make a clear five hundred taels on each set, but you can’t overwork yourself. After all, you’re not young anymore. If you keep doing this, how can your body take it?"
The old man immediately furrowed his brows, narrowed his eyes, and looked at Fang Che. "There’s something in your words, kid. Did someone tell you something?"
Fang Che said, "How could that be? I don’t know anybody. How would anyone tell me such a secret thing?"
The old man flew into a rage; veins popped on his forehead. "I fucking knew that bastard wasn’t reliable. He runs his mouth about everything!"
Fang Che frowned. "Elder, Senior, that’s a bit unreasonable of you. What did I say that made you suddenly blow up?"
The old man snorted. His frail-old-man act was still there, but his spirit suddenly changed; his eyes gleamed with intelligence. He said flatly, "You said it yourself: ’How would anyone tell me such a secret thing.’ Explain to me what that sentence means, hmm?"
Fang Che frowned, but answered calmly, "That’s just something I observed and guessed on my own. Besides, I don’t even know who you are, or what your status is. For you to say that is a bit forced."
The old man laughed loudly: "You are pretty calm; your Qi Cultivation Technique seems decent. Then explain this to me: what is this secret thing you’re talking about?"
Fang Che said, "I really did deduce it myself."
"Your reasoning?"
"Like when I came in and saw those books of yours, and then I realized..."
Fang Che laid out each of his reasons for his deduction, one by one. "Isn’t all that enough? Why does it have to be that someone told me?"
The old man sneered: "Then why are you in such a hurry to explain? Are you afraid someone will blame you?"
Veins bulged on Fang Che’s forehead. "Elder, I don’t understand why you insist on tangling over this topic. No one told me anything; what, do you want me to make someone up?"
"Hehehe..."
The old man’s eyes, jaded with the ways of the world, were full of mockery. "Keep on quibbling."
Fang Che looked speechless and spread his hands helplessly. "Elder, you’re being totally unreasonable here. You’re not even giving me a chance to argue back?..."
The old man snorted unhappily. "And you keep muttering about how I’m old and tired. What’s that supposed to mean, you don’t know yourself? You think you can come show off that little cleverness in front of me? You think all the Jianghu experience this old man’s built up in his life was from eating shit?"
Fang Che laughed and said, "But in the end, meeting is fate. You’ve got quite a big misunderstanding about me. How about I treat you, we have a drink? Whatever needs saying, sitting here and talking is nowhere near as pleasant as saying it over a cup."
The old man showed a deeply annoyed expression. "I have absolutely no interest in drinking any kind of booze with any of you people."
Just then, a Martial Artist came over hugging a set of books. "Checkout."
"Five hundred taels."
The Martial Artist clearly knew the price and just pulled out the money.
But Fang Che smiled. "Sorry, we’re closed for today. Not selling."
The Martial Artist froze, looked at Fang Che with a nasty expression. "Who the hell are you?"
Fang Che Huanhuan placed the Guardian waist card on the table, then slapped the Life and Death Order down beside it with a crack, smiling. "Southeast Headquarters, Life and Death Patrol Group, Fang Che."
At once, it was like this Martial Artist had seen the King of Hell himself. His face changed in a flash, his pupils almost shot out of their sockets, and two words burst out of his mouth: "Fang Tu?!"
Fang Che frowned. "Hmm?"
"Fang... Captain Fang?" The Martial Artist was so terrified his legs gave out, and he slapped himself across the face with a loud smack.
