He strode forward and, taking her by surprise, wrapped his arms around Nora Ainsworth from behind.

She froze mid-motion as she was opening the door. Turning her head, her eyes met his, and her expression turned to one of utter shock.

"Leon Lynch?"

"Nora Ainsworth, it’s me. Your fiancé has come to find you."

Nora Ainsworth cleared her throat. "Let go of me first. Come inside to talk."

Leon Lynch did as she asked, and they went inside, one after the other.

Nora Ainsworth poured him a glass of water. "How did you find out I was here?"

Leon Lynch took the cup, drained it in one gulp, and pulled her into his arms again, not letting go. "Nora Ainsworth, is it really you? Are you really Nora Ainsworth?"

She said irritably, "If I’m not Nora Ainsworth, who else could I be?"

"That time... I thought you were dead."

"I know."

"I went traveling."

"I know."

"I missed you so much."

"I know." The moment she said it, Nora Ainsworth regretted it and rolled her eyes. "You’re trying to trap me, aren’t you?"

Leon Lynch chuckled. "Nora, I really did miss you. I kept thinking that if you were still alive, I would protect you every single day."

"You’re going to strangle me. Can you let go first?"

Leon Lynch unexpectedly planted a few kisses on her face before finally letting go. "Okay."

She raised a hand to wipe the spot he had just kissed, complaining, "It’s all slobber, don’t you see!"

"This is the Lynch brand I’ve bestowed upon you. My dear concubine need only accept it."

A sudden warmth spread through Nora Ainsworth’s heart. When she first met Leon Lynch, he had been just like this.

"Accept my foot. Do you really think you’re an emperor?"

Leon Lynch sat right down on her bed, kicked off his shoes, and slid directly under her covers. The scent of her lingered on the pillow. It was the same model of bed, but lying in this one felt completely different.

"What are you doing climbing into my bed?"

"Climbing into your bed, I naturally want to—" He paused, a grin spreading across his face as he looked at her.

Nora Ainsworth remained unfazed. She pressed on, "Want to do what?"

Leon Lynch closed his eyes. "Naturally, I think your bed is more comfortable than mine in 804."

"You’re living across from me?" 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚

"Excited?"

Nora Ainsworth stepped forward and ripped the covers off him. "Excited my ass! Since you’re so close, hurry up and get back to your own room!"

"Does this mean if I wasn’t living across the hall, I could sleep in your bed?"

Nora Ainsworth scoffed. "You wish. They’re the same beds, so what’s the difference? How about this: you sleep here, and I’ll go sleep in your room."

Leon Lynch sat up. "No, that won’t do."

"If it won’t do, then hurry up and get out."

He lay back down again. "We may have only been apart for a few dozen days, but Nora, it feels like I haven’t seen you in forever. Can we just talk for a bit?"

Nora Ainsworth sat on the edge of the bed. "That, I can do. What do you want to talk about?"

"Nora, you’re my fiancée. You haven’t forgotten that fact, have you?"

"I *was* your fiancée once. I’ve never forgotten that. But, Leon, you never admitted it. The truth is, we haven’t been engaged for a long time. You’re just the only one who still thinks we are."

Leon Lynch looked at her. "Nora, let’s get engaged again. I want to be with you so badly it’s driving me crazy."

Nora Ainsworth lowered her head. "Leon, I can’t."

Leon Lynch wore his usual smile. "Nora, I never said we had to get together right now."

Nora Ainsworth looked up and smacked him on the stomach. "Don’t talk to me about getting engaged or married. This girl just wants to be single right now. I plan on never getting married."

"If you don’t get married for the rest of your life, that’s fine. I’ll stay with you!"

Nora Ainsworth laughed. "Who asked you to stay with me? Hurry up and go back to sleep. I have to film tomorrow morning."

Leon Lynch put on his shoes, then in a swift turn, pinned Nora Ainsworth to the bed. Their eyes locked. He gave her a punchable grin. "You made me lose so much sleep and my appetite for days. I was worried sick, and I even cried a few times. Nora Ainsworth, this isn’t over until you compensate me."

"How should I compensate you? Sell my body? Not happening. Give you money? It’s not like you’re short on cash."

He cupped her face, his legs trapping hers. "From now on, you have to let me kiss you anywhere on your face for free. No resisting!"

After speaking, he leaned down and landed a kiss right on her lips, pecking her twice like a bird pecking at food. "Alright. Good night."

He released her, stood up, and walked out.

"Leon Lynch, are you a child?! You’re a grown man!"

His voice came from the doorway, "I just love kissing you, so what? If you don’t like it, you can kiss me back!"

Nora Ainsworth was fuming. ’Where did this ruffian come from!’

Zoe Ellsworth had been staying home obediently for two days straight, not going to school. Seeing this, Mrs. Ellsworth advised, "Zoe, don’t tell me you’re just sitting here thinking up ways to get with Herman, are you? You’re even skipping school for it."

Zoe Ellsworth sat cross-legged on the sofa and let out a breath. "Mom, didn’t you say it yourself? If I, your daughter, get together with Herman, it doesn’t matter whether I go to school or not."

Mrs. Ellsworth nodded. "I did say that, but you haven’t gotten together with him, have you?"

"Isn’t your daughter trying to figure out a way?"

Mrs. Ellsworth snorted. "Mom was just saying. You’re really putting all your effort into this, huh? That Herman of yours has impossibly high standards. You think he’d actually be interested in you?"

Zoe Ellsworth retorted, "Mom, I don’t like hearing that. What’s wrong with me? Your daughter has the looks and the body. What’s not to like?"

"Yes, if you’d stop hanging out with those hooligans and work on your temperament, you would be quite a catch. But the key is, have you changed that temper and personality of yours?"

Zoe Ellsworth picked up an orange and started peeling it as she spoke. "Mom, don’t be so sure. Look at my brother. He used to be head over heels for Jean, right? So much that he was practically dying over her—I read his entire diary. But what about now? Isn’t he in love with my sister-in-law now, the one who’s my assistant?"

"So? Can you even compare yourself to your sister-in-law? You don’t have half of her good temper. I think you need to go work at the company for a while, get used to the life of an office worker. Don’t you hate school? Then you might as well go to our family’s company."

Zoe Ellsworth shook her head. "I’m not going to our company. But I wouldn’t mind going to Herman’s organization."

Hearing this, Mrs. Ellsworth immediately objected. "No way. That place is dangerous. Blades don’t have eyes. You’re so arrogant, you’d get yourself killed in the shadows and not even know what hit you."

Zoe Ellsworth snorted. "Mom, you just don’t get it, do you? You think your daughter is such an easy target? I’ve trained abroad, you know. The average person is no match for me!"

Mrs. Ellsworth stood up. "Don’t show off that half-baked kung fu of yours."

Zoe Ellsworth thought for a moment, put on her shoes, and immediately went upstairs.

She opened her closet and picked out an extremely seductive and revealing outfit with a miniskirt. After taking a hot shower, she put on the outfit, wearing nothing underneath.

She pulled on a pair of long stockings and covered the outfit with a large, thick overcoat. After checking her reflection in the mirror and slipping on a pair of high heels, she sat down at her vanity to put on her makeup.
