Mr. CEO's Substitute Bride
Chapter 1198 - 1193: Forced to Accelerate
In the office, Hannah Hargrave heard Nicholas Croft’s "proposal," and an involuntary smile appeared at the corner of her lips. Clearly, she wanted to make things difficult for Nicholas Croft, but she couldn’t bring herself to do it. She stood up, opened the office door, and urgently walked out.
Outside the office building, Nicholas Croft was still using a loudspeaker to shout above, attracting journalists—some busy snapping photos, others broadcasting live.
The company’s glass door opened, and Hannah Hargrave, dressed in a beige office outfit, stepped out and stood on the steps. Her long hair was styled in big waves hanging by the side of her face. She looked at the man still holding the loudspeaker proposing below, with the corners of her lips slightly raised.
This was an image she had fantasized about countless times. She had even imagined before that if Nicholas Croft was willing, she would willingly propose herself.
Seeing Hannah Hargrave walk out, the assistant softly reminded, "Director, she’s out."
Nicholas Croft stopped shouting, turned his eyes towards Hannah Hargrave, their gazes meeting, one filled with eager emotion, the other cold and devoid of warmth.
The assistant discreetly placed the small ring box in Nicholas Croft’s hand again, which he squeezed tightly into his palm. The velvet box’s edges weren’t sharp, but the sensation pressing into his palm seemed to remind Nicholas Croft of something.
He shoved the loudspeaker into the assistant’s arms, then took a bouquet of roses and strode towards Hannah Hargrave.
In front of a large crowd of journalists, employees, and passersby, Nicholas Croft knelt on one knee in front of Hannah Hargrave. His handsome face slightly raised, still showed no warmth, but the journalists interpreted it as serious and solemn.
Nicholas Croft said, "Hannah Hargrave, will you marry me?"
And not asking her "Are you willing?"!
Looking at the "affectionate" man in front of her, Hannah Hargrave pursed her lips and nodded, then proactively extended her right hand.
The man from the entertainment industry was never short of romance, but Nicholas Croft’s next actions had nothing to do with "romance." He stuffed the roses into Hannah Hargrave’s hands, then opened the small brocade box, took out the ring, and threw the now empty box aside.
The action of slipping the dazzling diamond ring onto Hannah Hargrave’s ring finger was rough, not gentle at all, but Hannah Hargrave still felt very happy. Her lips curled up, unable to hide her excitement even with her gaze lowered.
She finally got this man.
Though, the means were somewhat despicable.
If it weren’t for Nicholas Croft’s words breaking the beautiful atmosphere, Hannah Hargrave would have surely thought herself the happiest person in the world.
Because after Nicholas Croft stood up, he coldly asked, "Can you give Lara back to me now?"
Although his voice wasn’t loud and only the two could hear it, it shattered Hannah Hargrave’s dreams, making her feel like she fell from paradise to hell.
The discontent in her heart grew stronger, but faced with the many journalists, she could only maintain a happy expression, speaking in a voice only the two of them could hear, "Don’t worry, she’s my sister, I won’t let her die."
After saying this, she wrapped her arm around Nicholas Croft’s to force him to face the media journalists with her, smiling and waving.
The journalists snapped away wildly, but no one came forward to interview them. When they were notified, it was agreed they could take photos and broadcast news, but not ask questions.
...
Nicholas Croft’s efficiency was quick, and two days later, the wedding was held at the Hyde Park Hotel in T City.
Due to his status in the entertainment industry, a significant number of celebrities and friends flew over to congratulate him.
Although it was out of necessity, he had to speed up the process for Sophie Foster’s sake.
Because from the private investigator, so many days had passed without any news.
In the past few days, Hannah Hargrave hasn’t visited Sophie Foster again. With Harry Zachary keeping an eye on things, she’s only been preparing for her lifetime commitment.
