Chapter 1271: Chapter 1266: I Had an Abortion

After Sophia Hamilton cried for a while, Evander Lancaster gently nudged her, "Stop crying. I was the one who got hit, why are you crying?" Her small fists pounded on him without any mercy.

"I don’t want to see you!" Sophia pouted and glared at him.

"Alright, you won’t. I’ll check on the ward, and you should get up and eat." Evander sighed, got off the bed, walked to the wardrobe to grab clean clothes, changed, and walked out of the lounge without even having breakfast.

"Bastard!" Sophia cursed at the door, got up from the bed, moved over to the sofa in front of the small coffee table, and opened the food boxes one by one.

Plain porridge and small dishes, though light, were not something a hungry pregnant woman could be picky about. She held the food boxes and devoured the contents.

...

Willow Lancaster was settled in a private hospital room, no longer in life danger, but she had lost a lot of blood and her pale face was still visible.

Lying on the hospital bed, she stared at the window with a blank expression.

Catherine Taylor sat in the chair by the bed, holding a small bowl of rice porridge, and persuaded earnestly, "Willow, listen to mom, eat a little. If something happens to you, how will mom live alone in the future..."

Willow still gazed outside, unmoved.

Evander Lancaster pushed the door open and walked in, hands in the pockets of his white coat, asking formally, "How are you feeling? Is there any discomfort?"

Seeing Evander come in, Catherine reacted as if seeing a lifeline and quickly stood up, "Evander, Willow still refuses to eat. Please try to persuade her,"

Evander approached the bed, smiling.

"What’s this, the wrist-slitting failed, so now onto a new trick? Planning to go on a hunger strike?"

Willow still showed no reaction.

Evander reached out and tapped the raised bed rail. "Stop pretending to be deaf, talk. You slit your wrist in my apartment, causing my woman to have a tantrum, even losing the baby, and I haven’t settled that account with you yet!"

Willow slowly turned back, showing some reaction, looked at Evander, moved her lips, and spoke in a hoarse voice.

"You have a child?"

"Yes, but thanks to you, with all this turmoil, it’s gone now." Evander spoke truthfully, hands back in his white coat pockets, though his tone seemed indifferent, his helplessness was evident.

"I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to," Willow mumbled apologetically. Evander sneered and said, "You didn’t mean to? So it’s my fault then? For playing the good guy, bringing you back, only for you to stain my apartment with blood?"

Facing Evander’s half-smiling eyes, Willow moved her lips, ultimately not knowing what to say.

"Alright, stop the drama, eat your food, or my child will have died in vain!" Evander, clearly lacking patience, still had a woman waiting for him in the lounge.

He turned to glance at Catherine, who was holding the bowl, "Aunt Catherine, feed her the porridge. She’s lost so much blood it will take a long time to recover."

"Willow, your brother’s right, quickly eat, or you’ll waste his good intentions."

Catherine sat back in the chair, scooped some porridge, and brought it to Willow’s lips. After a moment’s hesitance, she opened her mouth.

Evander went to the foot of the bed, picked up the hanging small plastic bag with the doctor’s orders, "Aunt, how many bottles of IV has she received?"

"Oh, she just received two, there’s one more left,"

"Alright," Evander put down the small bag, "Nothing to worry about, just blood loss and weakness, more rest over a period will help her recover."

"Yes, yes, I know." Catherine nodded repeatedly, eyes already red, as she scooped more porridge to her daughter’s lips, "Evander, thank you so much this time. If not for our Willow, your child wouldn’t have been lost."

Evander picked up the small bag again to look at it, sighed, "Sophia’s young, we’ll try again once she’s recovered." He put the plastic bag down, "Alright, I’m going to check on other patients now."

...

Juliana Lancaster’s appearance caught Evander Lancaster off guard.

He had planned to let Sophia Hamilton rest at his place for a while, to wait until she recovered fully before letting her return.

His woman had miscarried, and as a man, he felt an undeniable responsibility both psychologically and morally, so he wanted to take care of her, to compensate somehow.

The medical staff brought Juliana to Evander Lancaster’s office and then left. Juliana grabbed Evander’s arm anxiously and said, "Evander, I’ve been calling Sophia but no one answered, then the phone was shut off. I called Assistant Zhang and was told she didn’t go to the office today. Did something happen to her? She is my only child..." 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶

"Aunt, Sophia is fine." Evander gently patted Juliana’s hand, stood, and gestured for her to sit in his chair.

"Fine? How do you know?" Juliana asked in confusion. Evander, knowing he couldn’t hide the truth, had to be candid, "Sophia... hasn’t been feeling well, which is why I had her admitted."

"What? Sophia’s sick? What kind? Is it serious? Quickly take me to see her!" Juliana stood up quickly, gripping Evander’s hand tightly.

Evander smiled faintly, patiently explaining, "Aunt, please don’t worry, it’s nothing major, just feeling a bit unwell so..."

"Evander, don’t lie to me, I studied medicine too. If nothing was wrong with her health, why would she be hospitalized? Tell me what is wrong with Sophia, so I can be prepared."

"Aunt, Sophia is really fine, I’ll take you to her right now." Evander patiently tried to convince her. He deliberately didn’t mention Sophia’s miscarriage due to personal reasons. It’s heartbreaking for any mother to hear about her daughter’s miscarriage. He feared her mother-in-law might oppose their relationship like his mother did, creating even more trouble.

Inside the lounge, after having breakfast, Sophia Hamilton started rummaging through Evander Lancaster’s wardrobe, trying to find a suitable outfit to wear when she left.

The clothes were easy to handle; she could throw on any jacket as a coat, but the pants were a problem. Not only were they too long, a man’s waist was also much broader than a woman’s, and even with a belt, it gathered in big folds.

After much effort, she found a pair of loose-fitting home pants, and as soon as she pulled them on, the door to the lounge swung open.

"Sophia, tell mom, what happened, where do you feel unwell..." Juliana’s frantic voice sounded, entering even before she physically did.

Sophia, standing at the bedside with her pants in hand, surrounded by Evander’s clothes strewn about.

"Mom? Why are you here?"

"You child, you almost scared me to death!" Juliana came over quickly, giving her daughter a light scold, "Feeling unwell and you didn’t tell mom. Tell me what kind of illness it is, why did you have to be hospitalized?"

Through her mother, Sophia coldly glanced at the man who followed her in, "I had an abortion!"
