Mr. Grant Treats Me Like a Treasure
Chapter 693 - 692: Get Out of the Sterling Family
The Kane Family really has the nerve, still daring to invite people to their banquet now.
The Kane Family hasn’t held many banquets in recent years, not because they wanted to keep a low profile.
It’s because they used to throw grand banquets, and a young lady attending was harassed by Wayne Jennings, plus Wayne’s reputation in the Imperial Capital has been terrible these years.
There aren’t many people attending the Kane Family’s banquets.
For the sake of face, the Kane Family reduced the number of banquets.
However, once the Kane Family sends out invitations, the guests, no matter how unwilling, still have to go.
Mr. Sterling came over, learned about the Kane Family invitations, glanced at the invitation card, and said to the old man, "Serena should attend."
Previously, the Sterling and Kane families got along okay on the surface.
Once the invitation arrived, they would go.
Now, with things looking like this, the old Mr. Sterling feels there’s no need to go.
He doesn’t plan to associate with the Kane Family, even if they still hold shares in The Sterling Corporation.
Upon hearing Simon Sterling say Serena would go, the old Mr. Sterling frowned in disapproval.
"She won’t go."
The Kane Family’s banquet is specifically aimed at Serena.
If Serena goes, it won’t be any different than a sheep walking into a tiger’s den.
The two held their own views; the old Mr. Sterling called Serena in Simon’s presence.
Serena was working, she put down the paintbrush when receiving the call from the old man.
"The Kane Family’s invitation?"
"Oh, I already received it."
The old Mr. Sterling was puzzled, while Simon wasn’t surprised.
Since the banquet was targeting Serena, surely the Dowager Kane thought the old Mr. Sterling wouldn’t want Serena to go, so they sent another invitation directly to Serena.
"It’s inviting Ethan Grant."
Sure enough, Serena guessed right.
The Dowager Kane, in the guise of inviting Mr. Grant and his wife, specifically sent it to Ethan Grant.
"Then you definitely shouldn’t go."
The old man said anxiously over the phone.
Although things may seem calm with the Kane Family for now, they are very vindictive and who knows what kind of moves they might pull at the banquet to harm Serena.
"Why shouldn’t I go?"
Serena replied with a smile, "They’re specially waiting for me to go, so of course I must go."
As Simon said, Serena will surely attend.
The Kane Family has set the trap waiting for Serena, and Serena is similarly waiting for them.
"No way!" The old man said firmly, "That’s the Kane Family’s territory."
"The Kane Family’s territory makes it interesting."
Serena smiled; she didn’t feel afraid, but rather was curious to see how June Kane and the others would play their game.
As she spoke, she looked down at her own legs.
These debts haven’t been cleared — she doesn’t sleep well at night.
"Grandpa, don’t worry."
Fearing the old man would stop her, Serena continued, "Ethan will accompany me."
"And Mr. Sterling!"
Serena suddenly mentioned Simon, prompting the old man to turn and look at Simon beside him.
Simon smiled; his daughter truly is clever!
She guessed he was right beside the old man.
"Serena, huh."
The old man withdrew his gaze from Simon, looked outside, and said, "Go if you want."
Both father and daughter said they’d go, and they surely have plans in mind — it’s useless to try and stop them.
So be it, let Serena go.
"Thank you, Grandpa!"
Serena ended the call with a smile and looked at the sketches on her desk; this time, she really wants to see who’s trapping whom!
After the call, the old Mr. Sterling looked at Simon and seriously instructed, "Your mother and I will go together."
"This time, you must protect Serena well — should anything happen to her again!"
The old man’s tone turned cold, "Don’t call yourself my son, get out of the Sterling Family!"
