Mr. Law's Official Announcement: He is a Wife-Doting Fanatic!
Chapter 21: Sinister Scheme
Florence Warner had never heard of Prescott Hospital, let alone what the four words behind it meant.
She cursed and swore, holding her hips, filled with hatred.
"Who cares if he’s being transferred to Prescott Hospital or Lynch Hospital, I’m Evan Vaughn’s mother! Why aren’t we allowed to visit?"
"They even want to kick me out, the nerve!"
Florence Warner still couldn’t believe that she had been subdued by a mere 20-year-old girl!
Not sure where that little brat Cecilia Vaughn learned such vicious moves, but with just one shoulder throw, her entire body was in excruciating pain.
How did that softie suddenly become so strong? It’s like seeing a ghost!
The more Florence thought about it, the angrier she got, yelling like a shrew.
"Why are they kicking me out! I have to see Evan Vaughn today!"
"Help! They’re beating people up at the hospital, there’s no justice left in the world, someone come and see that justice is done!"
...
Meanwhile, the surrounding onlooking nurses, who had been watching the whole time, started to gossip disdainfully.
"Some people have such thick skin, claiming to be the patient’s mom. Who doesn’t visit their son for over a year?"
"Exactly, and when they come, they only shout and scream like a shrew. Definitely a stepmother!"
"Isn’t she a stepmother? I even heard her curse the patient as a goner earlier."
"The one who threw her was the patient’s real sister, right? That move was truly majestic! Even I felt relieved watching it."
"These two must be stepmother and stepsister, how shameless to stay put here, truly embarrassing!"
The nurses were clear spectators, and the patient in room 1031 was even younger than them. He was handsome, never troublesome, and so well-behaved it tugged at their hearts.
Fiona Vaughn saw the snickering nurses and couldn’t help but blush.
She was just thankful she had a mask and other disguises on, so no one recognized her.
...
Cecilia Vaughn, hearing the commotion outside, furrowed her brow and opened the door again.
She cast a cold glance at the mother-daughter duo of Fiona Vaughn and the idle bodyguards.
"Still not throwing them out?"
"Alright, alright, right away!"
The bodyguards finally snapped out of it, initially entranced by Fiona’s beauty; any further delay might cost them their jobs.
They hurriedly dragged Florence Warner out of the hospital.
Florence screeched and howled all the way, utterly losing face.
Fiona Vaughn bit her lip, angry at her mom; getting thrown out like that brought disgrace upon herself!
She had to walk far away, covering her face, pretending not to recognize Florence Warner.
...
Thrown out of the hospital, Florence Warner was the subject of whispering and pointing, her ridiculous demeanor on full display!
After a while, she saw Fiona Vaughn stepping over, barely concealing herself.
Florence couldn’t help but complain.
"Fiona, where did you go earlier, not helping your mom at all."
Fiona worried Florence might throw another fit and quickly pulled her into an alley.
If she had helped her, she’d lose face too!
After all, even towards her biological mother, Fiona was ruthless enough not to care; her reputation was all she cared about.
In selfishness, Fiona surpassed her mother; even as the other woman in someone’s life, she could garner sympathy, like a pure white lotus unsullied in the mire.
Fiona comforted Florence with a few words before soberly speaking.
"Mom, have you heard of Prescott Hospital?"
Florence, unaccustomed to such upper circles, frowned immediately.
"What’s this Prescott Hospital? It sounds like a small clinic, how can it compare to a top-tier hospital? Is Cecilia losing it, wanting to send that goner to his death?"
"Also, when did that brat learn how to throw people like that?"
Increasingly impatient with her mom’s tirade, Fiona quickly dismissed her.
"After all, she spent three years in prison. What kind of person comes out of such an environment?"
"A proper young lady resorting to fistfights, how disgraceful."
Fiona, always priding herself as a noble lady, looked down upon Cecilia’s brutish behavior, utterly lacking in grace.
Who had ever seen a wealthy young lady capable of such throws?!
...
Sensing Florence about to continue ranting, Fiona swiftly changed the subject.
"Mom, never mind these trifles, you never mentioned Prescott Hospital, but I heard Station Director Alden from ASC mention it, it’s a world-renowned private hospital!"
"The patients treated there are all esteemed nobles; mere wealth isn’t enough, power, influence, and status are needed. Even father’s influence might not mean much there."
While comparisons might be helpful, ever since becoming the chairman’s wife of Radiant Group, Florence found herself highly regarded by all around her.
But now, Fiona’s words suggested Gregory Vaughn’s influence was of no use!
Good Lord, just what kind of institution is this Prescott Hospital?!
...
Florence, ever the opportunist, quickly snapped to attention.
"Daughter, are you saying that little brat Cecilia hooked up with a rich benefactor?"
"Likely more than just a rich benefactor."
Fiona furrowed her delicate brows, and a shadow crossed her beautiful eyes above the mask.
"She’s only been out of prison for a few days, a mere wealthy patron couldn’t get Evan transferred to Prescott Hospital so quickly; the person must have power and influence."
Florence’s eyes lit up with understanding, but she remembered her daughter was about to marry Tyson Law, making her part of the Law Group; who was afraid of whom?
"What’s to fear, we still have Tyson backing us!"
Fiona covered her lips with a smile.
"Exactly, who could match the Law Family in power? I certainly am not afraid," she said, a flash of malevolence in her eyes: "I just laugh at Cecilia for overestimating herself!"
"She thinks hooking up with some big shot with a bit of status could take us down? What a joke!"
Fiona instinctively assumed Cecilia’s backer was an older man, given the social standing and the swift connection, causing her to imagine the worst.
"Exactly, that little brat has no shame, trying to seduce older men at such a young age, she’s just damaged goods, easily crushed with a flick of our fingers!"
Florence grew more excited with her thoughts.
"She’s already done such disgraceful things, bringing shame to the Vaughn family, your father will be furious!"
"Why not suggest that, with her tarnished reputation, she can’t marry high, just sent to warm the bed of a business partner? It could expand Radiant Group’s endeavors!"
Fiona nodded, her softness belying an uncommon cruelty on her face.
"Not only should she be sent to warm a bed, her brother is a liability as well. What if Prescott Hospital actually cures him?"
"We need to come up with a plan, perhaps just..."
