Mr. Law's Official Announcement: He is a Wife-Doting Fanatic!
Chapter 39: What If You Dirty Them While Trying Them On?
It was a call from her friend Mona Summers.
Cecilia Vaughn immediately answered the phone.
"Cecilia, didn’t you say school was starting, and you wanted me to go shopping with you for some clothes and stuff?"
Mona’s clear and pleasant voice reminded Cecilia, and she suddenly remembered this plan!
She hadn’t been to school for three years, and now returning, she needed to prepare some outfits and study supplies.
She quickly nodded.
"Yes, yes, I almost forgot. Mona, have you had breakfast? Let’s meet at the shopping street at 9 o’clock."
...
Seeing Cecilia hang up the phone, the man’s almond-shaped eyes gazed at her.
"Don’t you like the clothes at home? Tell me your preferences, and I can have Wyatt reorder them."
It wasn’t that she didn’t like them.
The spacious walk-in closet in the villa was almost filled with clothes and shoes Adrian Law had prepared for her, as well as various beauty products.
Without exception, they were all the latest top-brand items of the season, and some were even high-end custom pieces. Just for going to school, wearing things worth tens or even millions felt too flashy for Cecilia Vaughn.
The girl smiled a little awkwardly.
"It’s not that, those clothes are great, but they’re not really suitable for school."
Adrian frowned slightly but quickly understood Cecilia’s dislike for being ostentatious.
"Alright, I’ll take you then."
Hearing this, Cecilia quickly shook her head.
"No need, no need, I can go by myself. It’s convenient to take a taxi or the subway to the shopping street from here. You have to go to the company; don’t waste time because of me."
The man said lightly, "It’s not wasting time. You are more important than work."
"..."
Cecilia felt a wave pass through her heart but still insisted.
"I’m not a child. I can handle it on my own."
Like last time going to school, Adrian deliberately drove a low-profile Audi, but walking with him anywhere would always make them the center of attention.
...
In the end, the man respected Cecilia’s wishes and let her travel alone.
Arriving at the entrance of the shopping street from the subway, Cecilia immediately noticed Mona with her chic and stylish short hair, looking very fashionable and capable.
She waved her hand vigorously at her friend.
"Mona, I’m here!"
Mona looked over at Cecilia in surprise, then after glancing around, her voice held a hint of disappointment.
"Cecilia, you came by subway? Where’s your President Law, didn’t he bring you here?"
Cecilia blushed.
"He’s not ’my’ anything; I’ve already said it’s an agreement marriage."
Mona reached out and gave her a gentle knock on the head.
"Silly girl, he’s clearly interested in you; otherwise, why would he help Evan transfer schools and help you get back into Stellerton University?"
"Even though there are rumors about his indifference, such a top-notch diamond bachelor, you shouldn’t foolishly miss out, hold on tightly."
Cecilia was left speechless by this and quickly changed the subject.
"Alright, alright, let’s not talk about this. Come with me to buy some things. I switched to the art department, so I want to buy some paints first, and then some clothes and shoes for daily wear."
Saying this, Cecilia suddenly remembered she hadn’t visited her grandmother in Veridia’s countryside for a long time.
Her grandfather Martin Sutton passed away early, her mother died in a maritime accident, and now the only family she had who truly cared for her was her grandmother and younger brother.
Although her grandmother and grandfather had divorced a long time ago over trivial matters, neither remarried.
Her grandmother came from an educated family and was a middle school teacher, while her grandfather was purely a businessman. They always liked to bicker over trivial life matters, which led to their divorce.
Both were too stubborn to yield, resulting in no remarriage.
However, their affection remained; even the agreement for inheriting shares after marriage was kept as a backup by her grandfather with her grandmother, showing how much they trusted each other.
Cecilia thought for a while, and after three years of not seeing her, decided to find a chance to go back to Veridia’s countryside, and this time she would also buy some things her grandmother liked to visit her properly.
...
After buying the paints and some art books, Cecilia also bought some health supplements suitable for the elderly, and then went with Mona to the newly opened mall nearby.
Since Cecilia hadn’t shopped in three years, Mona kept explaining everything to her in detail.
"This mall is newly opened, and there are several specialty stores for clothes and shoes here that are pretty good. They are all fast fashion brands that I think are very suitable for students and young professionals."
"Alright, let’s go in and see if there’s anything eye-catching."
These specialty stores were quite upscale, but not so high-profile as the clothes Adrian bought, and Cecilia, who had made some income from drawing comics in prison, could afford them on her own.
As they walked into the store, the shop assistants all looked over at the two of them.
But after just a glance, they looked dismissively past Cecilia and quickly focused their enthusiastic smiles on Mona.
"Miss, are you looking for something to buy?"
Cecilia, like an invisible person, was even pushed away from Mona’s side.
Feeling a bit embarrassed from being ignored, Cecilia understood that many people in this world judged others with colored glasses, and quickly let it go in her heart.
To make shopping easier, she dressed very simply today.
With a plain white T-shirt, blue denim jeans, and white sneakers, nothing stood out from head to toe.
Indeed, the cost was also extremely low, since they were purchased by a kind prison guard before her release; aside from that white dress, it was this set of clothes and the sneakers.
However, Cecilia didn’t feel anything was wrong; while inexpensive, the quality was indeed quite good and they were very durable.
...
Seeing Cecilia ignored, Mona felt annoyed.
"It’s not me who wants to buy, it’s my friend."
The shop assistants around them were taken aback, mumbled an "oh," glanced disdainfully at Cecilia’s cheap outfit, and quickly dispersed, losing interest in staying around them.
Seeing that Cecilia, although good-looking, was dressed like a poor student without an income source.
Meanwhile, Mona was dressed like a professional working woman who could certainly afford things, but since she wasn’t buying, they had no interest in pushing their sales for nothing.
...
Seeing the shop assistants switch attitudes as quickly as flipping a book, Mona was inwardly frustrated and couldn’t help but whisper, holding Cecilia’s hand.
"They really change faces as easily as flipping a book."
Cecilia chuckled at hearing this.
"Alright, it’s a relief they’re not crowding us; no need to get upset over such irrelevant people."
"Cecilia, your attitude is just too good."
Mona shrugged, spotting a pair of exquisite white sandals, her eyes lit up instantly.
"Cecilia, these shoes look so good. You have fair skin; they’ll definitely suit you."
Saying this, she was about to try them on Cecilia’s feet.
However, a shop assistant hurriedly came over to stop them, her voice extremely displeased.
"Don’t try them on randomly!"
"These shoes are so expensive, you can’t afford them, and what if you dirty them by trying?!"
