Mr. Law's Official Announcement: He is a Wife-Doting Fanatic!
Chapter 53: Florence Warner’s Life Is Worse Than Death
Upon hearing that playful yet mocking tone, Cecilia Vaughn’s expression shifted, and she immediately looked towards the doorway.
She saw a young man, perhaps in his twenties, standing just outside the hospital room.
The man was dressed like a business elite, though three or four buttons on his shirt were undone, giving off a somewhat suggestive vibe.
His presence was quite enchanting, with beguiling eyes that held a debonair smile; it felt as if he gazed at everyone with lingering affection.
Cecilia Vaughn had to admit, even if he stood next to Adrian Law and Zion Prescott, the two handsome figures, he was definitely not outshined.
...
Cecilia gently furrowed her brows and reached out to nudge Adrian Law.
"Who is this?"
Before Adrian Law could respond, the charming man began to introduce himself with a smile and extended his hand towards Cecilia Vaughn.
"You must be the woman who registered with my brother. I’m Felix Lockwood."
As expected, his brother had good taste. Although Cecilia Vaughn was bare-faced, she was indeed an undeniable beauty.
And judging by his sharp eye for beauty over the years, Cecilia Vaughn’s face was naturally flawless, untouched by any alterations.
...
Adrian Law felt displeased seeing Felix Lockwood’s persistent flamboyance.
He lightly knitted his brow, his deep, icy eyes fixed on Felix Lockwood’s outstretched hand, a cold flash flickering within them.
"What do you mean by ’that woman’? You should be calling her sister-in-law!"
"..."
Startled by Adrian Law’s icy gaze, Felix Lockwood quickly withdrew his hand, instantly adopting a fawning expression as he bowed to Cecilia Vaughn.
"Hello, sister-in-law."
Damn, his brother’s possessiveness was way too strong! As a gentleman, he was only reaching out of courtesy!
At least he didn’t shake her hand, otherwise seeing his brother’s hostile look, he’d practically get devoured.
Choosing romance over friendship!
Despite complaining in his heart, Felix Lockwood wore an easy-going smile on his face.
...
"Hello, I’m Cecilia Vaughn."
Even in just these two short minutes, Cecilia Vaughn got a sense of Felix Lockwood’s personality; he was likely quite the playboy.
However, she was curious why Felix Lockwood and Adrian Law, along with Zion Prescott, were friends, as their personalities seemed so different.
Felix casually nodded, crossing one leg over the other as he sat next to Zion Prescott.
"Speaking of which, big brother, the major task the family assigned to me last time is completed, and I plan to throw a party to celebrate. Why not invite sister-in-law to join?"
Adrian Law wrapped his arm around Cecilia Vaughn’s shoulder, lazily tossing out a sentence.
"No need, you have all sorts of shady friends at your parties; you’ll scare Cecilia."
"..."
Zion Prescott inexplicably felt a jab at his knee; he had just agreed to attend the celebration party a few days ago to support Felix Lockwood.
And now he was labeled a shady friend?!
Such injustice!
...
Meanwhile, as Felix Lockwood noticed Adrian Law’s unwavering gaze on Cecilia Vaughn, he instantly felt as though he was witnessing public displays of affection.
FML, just because you have a wife!?
What troubled him even more was Zion Prescott, standing next to him, giving a slight cough.
"Ahem, Felix, I was planning to come, but I just remembered there’s a temporary issue at the hospital, let’s do it next time."
"..."
Felix Lockwood suddenly felt teary-eyed.
"Hey, Zion Prescott, that’s so uncool! It makes me sad!"
"All of you bully me, none of you love me! I’m so aggrieved!"
With exaggerated mock pity, Felix Lockwood’s antics drew laughter from Cecilia Vaughn.
That Adrian Law had such an amusing friend was truly unbelievable!
But seeing Cecilia Vaughn’s cheerful expression made Adrian Law’s formerly furrowed brow gradually relax.
He lazily cast a glance at Felix Lockwood.
"Felix, if you keep up with that odd laughter, I’ll toss you out."
"..."
What did he do to deserve this!
Felix Lockwood obediently clammed up, resentfully drawing imaginary circles in his mind.
Just as he was feeling dispirited, Adrian Law’s low-pitched voice reached his ears.
"When is the celebration, tell me the date."
This was an agreement!
Felix "Baby" Lockwood’s eyes instantly lit up, and he eagerly grinned at Adrian Law.
"The 15th of next month!"
"I knew big brother was the best, make sure to bring sister-in-law!"
Such a grown man imitating a girly wink.
It was an eyesore!
Adrian Law, speechless, shielded Cecilia Vaughn’s eyes, regretting that agreeing to support Felix Lockwood was a mistake.
However, Felix Lockwood had idled for so long, now that he was finally taking the Lockwood Family’s business seriously, it was necessary as a friend to attend this celebration.
To strategically ward off those with ulterior motives concerning Felix Lockwood.
Even though Cecilia Vaughn’s eyes were covered, she was amused; having such a lively character like Felix Lockwood as a comic relief amidst the generally cold-natured Adrian Law and the genteel, reserved Zion Prescott wasn’t a bad thing.
...
Unlike Cecilia Vaughn’s cheerful mood, Florence Warner and her daughter were nearly at their wit’s end!
Especially Florence Warner, her face and body had been scalded; the most frightening part was her face, almost devoid of unharmed skin, making her want to howl in pain!
"Fiona! It hurts so much! Why won’t any hospitals even let us step inside!"
"Oh, my face! It hurts, it hurts!"
They’d already hurried to several hospitals, both public and private, yet none were willing to attend to Florence Warner!
This was too uncanny!
Moreover, the reasons were consistent, saying Florence Warner had caused trouble at Stellerton Naturopathic Hospital, and everyone was afraid to take her, fearing consequences with such a troublesome patient.
...
Florence Warner wanted to file a complaint, outraged that hospitals could refuse patients!
But the pain on her face was unbearable, the skin red and itchy, more agonizing than death!
"I can’t stand it anymore!"
Florence Warner shouted, starting to scratch at her burned face, drawing more blood.
"Mom, you mustn’t scratch! It will ruin your face!"
Fiona Vaughn was startled, Florence Warner’s face was already in a poor state, and scratching just made it worse!
The Vaughn Family did own a listed company like the Radiant Group, surely having a family doctor, but that doctor had taken leave to Veridia City days ago, which wasn’t an immediate solution!
Resolved, Fiona Vaughn grabbed her mother’s hand.
"Mom, we should go to a pharmacy and get some anti-inflammatory medications; we can’t keep going like this."
Handling it crudely was better than letting the situation rot unchecked!
...
Now they could only take desperate measures, so Florence Warner agreed.
However, they were shocked to find that all pharmacies seemed to have a uniform stance, not allowing Fiona Vaughn inside, much less letting her buy medicine!
"I can’t take it anymore!"
And Florence Warner rolled on the ground in pain, her sweat mingling with blood across her face, a horrific sight!
Fiona Vaughn gritted her teeth, initially intending to treat the problem without informing Gregory Vaughn, who was away on business, but she had no options left now.
She dialed the phone, instantly adopting a tearful tone.
"Dad! Something terrible happened!"
"Sister suddenly came home, and before we could enjoy it, she burnt mom’s face!"
"Boohoo... Dad, what should we do!"
