Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!
Chapter 961: A Very Awful Person
After Miles Sterling was sent to the hospital, the doctor examined him and said he just had a cold and fever.
The doctor administered a treatment to reduce Miles Sterling’s fever and left the room after putting him on an IV drip.
Vanessa Sterling stood by the bedside, constantly attempting to contact Quentin Sterling.
Without waiting for Quentin to respond, Miles Sterling, lying in bed, woke up.
Due to the fever, Miles Sterling felt somewhat dizzy and light-headed.
When his blurry vision settled on Vanessa Sterling standing by the bed, he initially thought he was dreaming, but unconsciously called out her name: "Vanessa..."
Hearing Miles Sterling’s hoarse voice, Vanessa glanced at him. Seeing that he was awake, she felt a sense of relief but didn’t voice any concern or questions.
Miles Sterling stared at her for several seconds, as though confirming he was not dreaming, involuntarily curling his lips into a pale smile.
Vanessa said nothing as she left the room to call the doctor.
Soon, Quentin Sterling returned the call.
Perhaps noticing that Vanessa had called him several times late at night, Quentin’s tone was worried when he answered: "What’s wrong, Vanessa? Did something happen?"
Vanessa: "...He’s sick. I just got him to the hospital. Uncle, can you come over now?"
Quentin paused for a moment and asked, "Who? Miles?"
Vanessa gave a soft "Hmm," and Quentin couldn’t help but ask over the phone: "How are you with him? Did he come to find you?"
Vanessa answered quietly: "He seems to have remembered some things, but his memory hasn’t fully returned."
Quentin pondered thoughtfully: "Then wait a little; I’ll drive over right away. I was in the study and left my phone in the living room, only just saw the message. Sorry for worrying you."
Vanessa shook her head and said: "It’s no problem, sorry to trouble you to come over this late." 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
She didn’t actually want to trouble Quentin, but she didn’t want to interact with the rest of The Sterling family, nor did she want Gwen Grant to know, fearing it would bring unnecessary trouble, so she opted to call Quentin.
As she hung up, the doctor finished the check-up and left the room, telling Vanessa: "The patient isn’t in grave danger; once his fever subsides and he rests, he’ll be fine."
Vanessa nodded; after the doctor left, she didn’t re-enter the room but sat on a chair in the corridor, waiting for Quentin Sterling.
Miles Sterling lay in bed, his gaze fixed on the doorway.
He didn’t know if Vanessa had already left; his muddled mind, however, echoed with the words Vanessa had just spoken to him.
If his past self had indeed caused Vanessa so much hurt, he truly didn’t have the courage to appear before her again, even though the memories he was recalling were all related to Vanessa.
More than ten minutes later, Quentin Sterling arrived at the room.
When Miles Sterling turned his head and saw that it was Quentin who entered, his eyes silently expressed disappointment.
"Feeling better?"
Miles Sterling didn’t answer but asked in return: "Where is she?"
Quentin hesitated, then said, "She just went home."
Miles Sterling lowered his gaze, staring blankly at the ceiling and murmured: "I used to be a very terrible person, didn’t I?"
Quentin took a heavy breath and responded: "Perhaps to Vanessa, you were."
Miles Sterling chuckled bitterly and said: "I think I understand now why everyone tells me not to cling to the past. She seems not to wish for me to remember her."
