Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!
Chapter 969: The Beautiful Scenery in My Eyes
Once the art exhibition officially began, Miles Sterling found a spot in the corner of the venue to sit.
Vanessa Sterling’s works received a lot of admiration and recognition, and many people were interested and curious about this emerging artist in the art world.
Amid the eager anticipation of the crowd, Vanessa Sterling, as the last guest, went on stage together with Richard Sheffield.
Standing on stage, Vanessa was relatively restrained; Richard Sheffield started with a brief introduction of Vanessa’s identity, generously praising her, before letting Vanessa introduce her own works.
Miles Sterling sat in the audience, listening to Vanessa’s voice coming from the speakers, its gentle and sweet tone seemed to pour directly into his mind, preventing him from focusing on the content of her speech.
Vanessa had just put down the microphone and turned to look at the host on the side of the stage, waiting for the next arrangement.
Before the host could make a move, Richard Sheffield stepped forward with the microphone, continuing from where Vanessa left off: "Thanks to Vanessa for bringing us such excellent works. According to the schedule, today’s event should conclude, but I would like to delay everyone just a few minutes due to a personal matter."
Upon hearing Richard Sheffield’s words, both the people on stage and in the audience looked at him with curious and expectant eyes.
Richard Sheffield gestured towards the back of the stage, and soon two staff members moved an unrevealed painting onto the stage.
"After this painting was completed, it hasn’t been viewed by anyone yet." Richard Sheffield smiled as he walked to the front of the painting, gestured invitingly to Vanessa, and continued: "Today, I hope Vanessa can unveil it with me, and invite everyone here to be witnesses."
Vanessa was momentarily stunned, then walked to Richard Sheffield’s side with the host leading her.
Under the curious gazes of the crowd, the two of them each took hold of a corner of the curtain and slowly pulled it away...
Beneath the curtain was a scene of a girl, with an easel, painting among the mountains and waters.
It was easy to see that the girl in the painting was Vanessa Sterling, and the audience instantly erupted with a commotion.
Richard Sheffield walked up to Vanessa, took her hand, and speaking into the microphone, said with deep affection: "Vanessa, since the day I met you, you’ve been the beautiful scenery in my eyes. Would you be willing to forever be the most unique landscape in my paintings?"
Vanessa appeared stunned, her steps instinctively moving backward, but Richard Sheffield tightened his grip on her hand, smiling at her as he listened to the audience’s cheers.
Miles Sterling clenched his teeth, holding back the urge to go on stage and take Vanessa away.
Richard Sheffield also noticed Vanessa’s difficulty and spoke to the audience through the microphone: "Thank you all for listening to my feelings, but Vanessa is rather shy, and I believe she will give me a satisfactory answer after we step down, so let’s keep her reply a secret for now. Thank you everyone for coming today, good night."
The host immediately caught on, quickly taking over and delivering a closing speech.
Vanessa followed Richard Sheffield to the back of the stage, her face flushed and her whole demeanor tense and awkward.
Richard Sheffield chuckled softly and asked: "Did it feel too sudden for you?" 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
Vanessa lowered her head, bit her lip, and awkwardly said: "...It was a bit, I..."
Before Vanessa could finish her sentence, Richard Sheffield earnestly said: "I’m serious, I understand your feelings might be a bit chaotic right now, please go home and think it over carefully, and can you give me a response tomorrow?"
