My Ability Pool is Superior
Chapter 310 - 309: Speculations About the Node
The refugee center in District D, reappearing under the sun.
Army green tents were scattered disorderly, with all sorts of debris littering the ground, and if you looked carefully, you could even find valuables like money and jewelry.
It’s not that there were no people left; in fact, a considerable number of people still survived in this area.
They had just emerged from an all-consuming darkness, still unclear about what happened, and their attention was immediately caught by that terrifying eye in the sky.
Even the Death Fighters mingling among them were momentarily stupefied at the sight of the eye in the sky.
You must understand, this world has its fair share of strange entities, but they usually follow some pattern.
Either it’s haunted by Yin Qi, or it’s some grotesque bloody monster, or at the very least, it’s some unspeakable rule at play.
Yet that eye suspended high in the sky evoked no ghostly feeling whatsoever.
It emanated an aura that was mysterious yet filled with awe.
A Yapi man in a dapper suit raised an eyebrow in surprise: "Is this also a kind of anomaly?"
"Hard to say. Regardless, it’s not something we can handle. Let the Guardian God worry about it."
A young man with dyed yellow hair replied carelessly, his tone laden with sarcasm when mentioning the Guardian God.
It can’t be helped; the power level of this Death Arena isn’t particularly high, certainly not comparable to worlds where stars explode at the slightest provocation.
However, the strange entities in this world possess rather troublesome powers, many involving rules of some kind.
No matter what ability combinations the Death Fighters come up with, once caught, resistance is hardly an option.
Faced with such circumstances, the surviving Death Fighters’ strategy is simply to avoid areas frequented by strange entities.
Endure, ensure their survival, that’s the best approach.
It feels more like a gamble of luck to see whose luck holds out rather than whose abilities are stronger.
The Yapi man withdrew his gaze from the eye and looked around, deciding for safety’s sake: "Let’s switch locations; there are too many people here."
Although the habits of strange entities differ, leading to an equal chance of encountering them regardless of crowd size,
Generally, the entities bold enough to show up in a crowd tend to be more troublesome.
The young man with yellow hair naturally had no objections, nodding at the Yapi man and stepping towards a more secluded area.
Plop.
A ghastly pale hand suddenly grabbed the young man’s calf.
"Where do you think you’re going..."
A chilling voice emerged from behind, eerily disturbing.
On the spot, the young man with yellow hair felt as though he’d lost control over his body, frozen and as rigid as stone, unable even to glance back.
"Come keep me company..."
The twilight cast its light upon him, but the young man with yellow hair felt no warmth, nerves taut until he could hear his own increasingly loud heartbeat.
Swallowing hard, he mustered all his strength to try and wrench his leg free from the pale grip, to no avail.
"Hmm?"
The Yapi man took a couple steps, sensing something amiss, and turned to look at the young man with yellow hair who stood frozen: "Cai Xiang, what are you doing?"
The lack of reply from the other party caught the Yapi man off guard, causing him to pull back instinctively.
He tentatively reached out and waved a hand in front of the young man named Cai Xiang: "...Some nasty thing, huh?"
Even without Cai Xiang’s response, the Yapi man had already made an assessment.
Without hesitation, the Yapi man turned and ran for it, fearing he might be ensnared by something if he delayed.
Watching this, Cai Xiang cursed inwardly.
Even though it’s common knowledge that Death Fighters don’t trust each other, having a "teammate" flee so quickly was beyond Cai Xiang’s expectations.
"Hehe, come here..."
The icy voice echoed in Cai Xiang’s ear once more, akin to a death knell, making his heart leap to his throat.
Anger, despair, and helplessness surged as Cai Xiang’s emotions peaked.
Suddenly,
a slender white hand patted Cai Xiang’s shoulder.
"Interesting. Is this your doing?"
In that moment, Cai Xiang felt as if he’d ascended from a frigid underground storage to a sunlit surface.
The familiar warmth he had once taken for granted now stirred an inexplicable urge to weep.
He turned his head abruptly, spotting Lv Bai, who had appeared before him without his knowing.
He was about to express his gratitude when the aura of Lv Bai’s three titles struck him like a cold wave, sending him into a quivering frenzy like a scared quail.
"You... Guardian God..."
Lv Bai’s attention was not on this Death Fighter but rather on a glass shard by Cai Xiang’s feet.
This piece of glass appeared to be part of a mirror.
After a moment’s thought, he tapped the surface of the shard twice with his hand: "Don’t hide in there, come out and have a chat, how about it?"
After his words, the shard remained still, plain as any ordinary fragment, yet a dense Yin Qi could be felt from it.
Lv Bai was unfazed, casually wrapping the shard in yellow paper and tucking it into his pocket.
If he’s guessed correctly, this shard is part of two strange entities, sequence 127—the Mirror Demon and sequence 128—the Cloud Mirror...
Initially, he was alerted by the Death Fighter’s title and had come over intending to resolve it. However, upon noticing the shard, he recalled something crucial.
Don’t forget, every Death Arena hosts Nodes that influence the world.
So after initially understanding the world’s situation, he began contemplating what the world’s Node might be.
It wasn’t hard to deduce—humans didn’t possess supernatural powers.
Preserving humanity’s continuation naturally involved harnessing strange powers, an unavoidable path.
Thus, the world’s Node could only be found in strange entities.
Following this deduction, entities bound to objects became Lv Bai’s focus.
VHS tapes, teddy bears, blue lady cigarettes, endless stairwells, and naturally, the Cloud Mirror included.
While it might not be immediately useful, having it on hand posed no harm.
Lv Bai turned to Cai Xiang: "Alright, now let’s discuss your issue."
The gaze filled with amiable curiosity made Cai Xiang shiver at first, then this Death Fighter began speaking rapidly.
"Boss, don’t attack me yet, I still have value. I know where the other Death Fighters are hiding..."
