Chapter 70: My Feelings ĆđŤđđwđ˛đđťŕŤŚđˇeđĄ.cđđ˘
âSo, tell me, since how long have you liked himâ? This one question from his brother had Caleb stunned, not sure how to respond to it. Should he keep pretending and tell his brother that he got it totally wrong? What good can possibly come from admitting it anyways. He opened his mouth to say something, but was stopped by Christian at that very moment by a gesture of his index finger. âNo more lies. I have already had enough of thoseâ.
âI really donât. Why do you think I doâ? Caleb counter questioned him.
âFirst of all, I am your brother and I can tell the way you look at him. Secondly, remember what you said to me? That you wonât bear a mark of someone you donât have feelings forâ? Christian smirked.
âThat was before I gave it a proper thoughtâ! Caleb tried harder to convince his brother.
âYou and I both know thatâs bullsh**t. I know how stubborn you can be, and there is no way you changed your mind just like thatâ. Christian challenged him further.
âWhy does it even matterâ? Caleb popped the question raising his voice out of frustration.
âOf course it does, because you have feelings for him but you manipulated him to get you marked instead of actually confessing! At this point I am starting to feel like you are the bad guyâ! Christian raised his voice as well.
.....
âConfessingâ? Caleb scoffed. âJust so you know, he made it perfectly clear he doesnât want a mate. Considering even if I had feelings for him, whatâs the point of confessingâ? Calebâs voice quivered at the end.
âMaybe he actually didnât mean it? Maybe he will actually reciprocate, you never knowâ? Christian suggested.
âOr... maybe he wonât and instead start regretting ever marking meâ Caleb retorted.
Christian sighed with frustration,âDo whatever you want. But just so you know, this way it will hurt both of you even more. Given that you are marked, and your budding feelings for him, it wonât be easy for you to be around all the timeâ. Christian said softly.
âMy Feelingsâ? Caleb scoffed. âDonât worry, I wonât let it become a problem for anyoneâ.
âSo you do admit that you have feelingsâ? Christian scoffed, catching him red handed.
âWhateverâ, Caleb dismissed it.
Both of them were silent for a while. Caleb was on the brink of tearing down and Christian started to feel bad for pushing his brother to his limit. After a while, his brother asked him hesitantly, âItâs okay if you donât want to tell him. But I am still curious how long have you had a crush on himâ?
Caleb thought for a while, âI am not sure... I mean I didnât even consider seeing him that way until Karolyn came along... But I guess it started back when I first found out he was an Alphaâ. Caleb mumbled.
âBecause he defended youâ? Christian questioned. âMaybe? But mostly because he helped me. He fought his urge and took care of me properly instead of trying to take advantage. It is kind of hard not to fall for thatâ.
âI see. Well, even though I just met him, it seems that he would have done that for anyone. Am I rightâ? Christian raised his eyebrows to which Caleb nodded. âThen how come youâre so moved by it? You do realize that he didnât treat you in a special wayâ? đłđłđeđŹđđđťđđđ˛l.đđď˝
âThatâs exactly what I liked about himâ. Caleb declared. Christian scrunched his eyebrows in confusion so Caleb decided to explain further. âMost of the people fear me because they think I am the Alpha, even if they find out who I am they might treat me the same way because I am the son of the Head Alphaâ. He sighed. âMy point is, even if people treat me nicely doesnât mean that is their true selves. With Ashton, he would help anyone, even if he pretends all the time that he doesnât care, irrespective of their blood rankâ.
âOkay...â Christian mumbled.
âHe respects me as a person, and I kind of like thatâ. Caleb shrugged.
After a moment of silence Christian scoffed, âWow, sounds like you are whippedâ.
âWhat?! Absolutely notâ! Caleb protested, recovering from his deep thoughts. âWhatever, can we drop thisâ? Caleb insisted to his brother.
âYeah, sureâ. Christian chuckled. âLook at that, my baby brother found a mate before meâ. He teased him.
âWith your irritating attitude, I can see why thatâs the caseâ Caleb retorted earning a frown from his brother. âSo...youâre okay with himâ? Caleb asked cautiously with a tinge of hope.
âHonestly...noâ Christian shook his head. âBut, you picked him, so I am not gonna stop you from pursuing him. But, I will kill him if he ever hurts youâ! Christian threatened.
Caleb rolled his eyes, âFirst of all, I am not pursuing him, I-â.
âYeah whatever, I donât wanna get in the middle of whatever you are doingâ. Christian cringed, cutting in the middle of the sentence.
Ignoring his brotherâs comment Caleb continued, âand Secondly, you will kill him if he hurts me? That is so old fashionedâ!
âI donât care, you are my baby brother, and I will look out for youâ. Christian declared.
Calebâs eyes glistened along with a giant smile plastered to his face. Happy that he managed to convince his brother he asked the next question, âCan you do me a favor? Can you not tell Mom and Dad yetâ?
âAbout the Markingâ?
âAbout Ashton. And of course, marking as well. You know how our parents are. If they find out itâs gonna be really problematic. Dad would kill Ashton in a heartbeatâ. Caleb pleaded.
âI donât think he will, he wouldnât want your mate to dieâ. Christian argued.
âWell, he will never choose me before the whole pack. You know how he is, no matter what he will never be convinced that Ashton is harmlessâ. Caleb rolled his eyes. âBesides, it will be a bother to Ashton, I donât want to drag him along in all this anymoreâ.
âFine, if thatâs what you wantâ. Christian shrugged. âYou do realize they will find out eventuallyâ.
âI knowâ, Caleb gave a hopeless sigh. âI just want to delay it as long as possibleâ.
After a minute of silence Christian spoke up, âWell, we should leave. Dad is back and he wants to see me. I suggest you go back to your Cabin. Even without scent, get better firstâ.
