Shelly wanted to stay the night, but unfortunately that would not have been proper and she had to return home. Rin trusted her to handle her task, so it was time for him to do his job.

He did not have much evidence against House Raven, but that was not an issue for him. He could simply fabricate whatever evidence he lacked.

It was not hard to use the ghosts and plant the false evidence he needed in the record books of each family member and even the head servants. And to start this destruction, Rin decided to deal with the head maid first.

He made sure his mother’s necklace ended up in the head maid’s room and he chose the expensive one his mother favored during social gatherings.

Now, he just needed to wait for everyone’s reaction.

And his mother did not disappoint.

"You-! How dare you steal from me? This is how you treat the house that took you in ever since you were little?"

"M-Madam...I did not dare-"

"Stop speaking! I did not give you the right to speak. What? Does anyone else have to speak for her?"

The head maid shrank back and turned toward Rin’s father desperately, the head of the house.

"S-Sir, you’ve known me since I was little. You know I would never-"

"Now you’re shamelessly involving my husband too? Just how shameless can you get?"

Rin watched this from the second floor and watched the chaos with satisfaction. But he did not linger around because this was only the beginning.

Since the head maid had been taken care of, next, it was time to get the guards in trouble. And that was even easier than the head maid.

The head maid had no record of corruption, but the guards were a different case. They frequently harassed commoners and even stole from them in the name of ’protection money’.

All Rin needed to do was make sure his father saw his reputation getting tarnished. So he planted a note in his father’s study about a scheduled inspection, and the guard captain got caught.

This was only possible because the ghosts could possess Rin and control his body as they pleased.

It allowed Rin to copy someone’s handwriting and ensure things happened at the right time.

With both the head maid and the guard captain gone, things became tense in their house and everyone was at each other’s throats. Rin chose not to come out of his room until he got Albus’s message.

[I am willing to take your offer. Please send me all the records.]

Albus must have sent this message after making preparations of his own. So Rin gathered all the fake and real evidence he had gathered and trusted Albus to handle the matter.

That evening, the royal guards forced their way through the gates with an arrest warrant for his father and elder brother.

"What is the meaning of all this?"

The head of the family asked but the guards gave him no time to ask questions about what was happening. They dragged the father and son away, leaving behind Rin’s mother and his younger brother.

That evening, the Duke came to visit with Shelly and Rin’s mother immediately started to cry her heart out in front of him.

"My lord! You know my husband! He would never do anything like this. He must have been framed by someone. Please, help us seek justice. How are we supposed to survive?"

She clutched Rin’s younger brother when she spoke. As expected, Rin had been completely ignored. But this suited Rin just fine.

He noticed how the Duke was looking at him and then at the mother-son pair hugging each other.

Finally, he sighed and reached out to comfort her..

"Madam, your maternal family will be here to assist you. I am sure they will find the evidence needed to prove your husband’s innocence. For now, I am here to take Shelly’s fiance back with me."

"Take Rin? Why would you want to take that cursed boy...I mean, wouldn’t our younger child suit her better? He’s smart and I am sure your daughter would like him as well if she spent time with him."

Rin’s mother turned toward Shelly, trying to get her attention. But Shelly had already turned her head away from her and was looking at Rin.

The rejection bruised Rin’s younger brother’s pride and he grabbed Shelly’s wrist roughly to make her look at him. But that was a mistake because Shelly was much stronger than him.

Not only was he not able to shake Shelly but he also got slammed onto the ground back-first.

"Oh no! Are you alright? H-Hey, what are you doing-"

"He touched me. Your son is not allowed to touch me. Rin is the only one allowed to touch me. If he tries this next time, then I will make sure he never uses that hand again. Do you understand me?"

Shelly loomed over the mother-son pair and her overwhelming presence forced them to cower.

The Duke immediately quickly stepped in and turned his daughter’s attention away from the unfortunate boy who had become her target. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖

"Shelly, we should be heading back. If we don’t leave now, then we won’t be able to arrive home before dinner is served. You don’t want to keep your fiance hungry, right?"

The Duke asked and Shelly paused before she looked at Rin and slowly nodded.

"You are right. We should head back now. Rin, how much time will it take for you to pack your stuff?"

The Duke interjected once more, trying to earn more points with his precious daughter.

"Please don’t worry about it, Shelly. Daddy will send someone to pack his stuff later and get it delivered. Whatever isn’t brought back can be replaced. Now, let’s get going."

After being in this story for about five days, this was the first time Rin left his house. The carriage was far from comfortable, but it felt refreshing to finally get away from his annoying family.

Shelly kept making small talk with him which kept the conversation lively and the Duke looked relieved to see his daughter having such a nice time.

They reached the Duke’s estate soon and the Duke welcomed Rin inside.

"Shelly will show you to your room, child. If you need anything, don’t hesitate to come and ask me. You are the first person Shelly has taken a liking to and I would prefer for you to stay here as long as possible."
