My Clones Can Cultivate
Chapter 4: Choosing a Pet
**Chapter FIVE**
Rayden read the words on the system screen with a grin spreading across his face. "Yes... yes, yes, yes!"
Another jackpot. No, an even greater jackpot. Since this was supposedly a cosmic tier item, then surely whatever waited ahead would be absolutely broken. Rayden’s imagination immediately ran wild as countless thoughts flashed through his mind.
Maybe he would obtain some ancient god tier summon and instantly become overpowered, just as a transmigrated protagonist like himself deserved. Perhaps a legendary dark dragon. Or some ancient beast capable of devouring worlds.
Rayden wasted no more time and selected YES. The moment he did, a small golden card materialized in his hand. It looked fragile and paper thin, yet the instant it appeared, the air around him seemed to grow heavier.
An indescribable pressure radiated from the card itself, causing the hairs on the back of Rayden’s neck to rise. Without anyone telling him, he instinctively knew that this thing was far beyond normal. The intricate golden patterns engraved across its surface seemed almost alive, shifting faintly beneath the light.
Rayden admired it for only a brief moment before tearing the card apart. The instant he did, his body began fading from the world. A bright flash swallowed his vision. The next moment, Rayden found himself standing atop a massive golden platform. Everything around him was gold. The sky. The floor. Even the surrounding atmosphere carried a faint golden glow.
Yet despite its beauty, the place carried a pressure so immense that Rayden immediately felt tiny and insignificant. Like an ant standing before a cosmic existence.
His thoughts suddenly became strange. At one moment, they moved rapidly. At another, they slowed to a crawl. It felt as if his mind itself was being distorted merely by existing here. Rayden frowned before quickly shaking his head, forcing himself awake from the strange mental pull. Only then did his thoughts finally clear.
"It must be the passive effect of this place," he muttered cautiously. After regaining control of his senses, Rayden finally looked forward properly. A massive system screen floated ahead of him. However, with a single glance, he realized it was not his own system interface. His system screen was blue. This one was golden, just like the platform beneath him.
Rayden attempted to walk closer, only to realize he could not move at all. It was as if the surrounding space itself had frozen him in place. "Huh?" He frowned. "How am I supposed to read something that far away then?"
Almost immediately after those words left his mouth, the text on the distant screen suddenly became crystal clear in his vision. It read: [You have received a Tamer Totem. Claim it before you move on.]
Rayden immediately selected CLAIM. A jade like seal appeared in his hand moments later. Although small in size, it radiated a majestic aura that made it feel ancient and sacred. Soon, information regarding the item flooded into Rayden’s mind.
The Tamer Totem: A divine artifact capable of suppressing and taming beasts or summons whose level had vastly surpass his own. As an example, if Rayden was level zero, he could still tame a beast over one hundred levels above him. Which was completely insane.
However, creatures whose power exceeded the limit too greatly, such as those over a thousand levels above him, could not be tamed. Even then, the totem itself was unbelievably broken. The number of beasts he could tame depended directly on his level. Currently, he could tame one.
After digesting the information, Rayden looked back toward the golden system screen. The text upon it shifted instantly. [Select Your Summon.]
Rayden’s eyes narrowed. Then the first option appeared.
**One. Sun Wukong**
**Title:** The Heaven Defying Monkey King
**Description:** Born from the collision between chaos and order, the Monkey King was an existence rejected by heaven, hated by hell, yet feared by both. He mocked immortals, shattered divine armies, overturned celestial laws, and brought ruin wherever his laughter echoed. He was a creature too wild for creation itself. It is said that when the Monkey King grew enraged, even the stars avoided his gaze.
**Danger Level:** Unknown
**Taming Success Rate:** 0.0000001%
**Warning:** Host soul may collapse from prolonged observation.
The instant Rayden finished reading the warning, an overwhelming sense of danger exploded through his body. He immediately tore his gaze away from the screen. A blinding headache struck him for a brief moment before slowly fading. Rayden frowned deeply. "What kind of absurd summon is this?"
But strangely enough, this was exactly the kind of broken summon he actually wanted. Still, he wasn’t stupid. Choosing the Monkey King with such a microscopic taming success rate was practically suicide. What if the deranged monkey simply killed him for disturbing its existence? "No... way too risky," Rayden muttered before moving to the next option.
**Two. Golden Dragon**
**Title:** Primordial Dragon God
**Description:** An ancient ruler among all beastkind whose bloodline stands above countless divine species. Its roar alone can elevate lesser creatures into supreme beings or reduce apex races into crawling vermin within moments. Legend claims its eyes contain the authority of evolution itself. Even ancient gods avoided provoking its wrath.
**Danger Level:** Catastrophic
**Taming Success Rate:** 0%
**Warning:** Attempting to tame this being may result in your entire bloodline being erased.
Rayden’s face twitched violently. He immediately looked away from the screen. "This is definitely punishment." Another insanely overpowered summon, except this one had an absolute zero percent success rate. Meaning attempting to tame it would be beyond foolish. Who knew? The dragon might literally erase his entire ancestry from existence. Rayden’s lips twitched upward slightly. "Actually, that would be kinda cool to witness."
Unfortunately, he would not be alive to see it happen. Then another dangerous thought surfaced in his head. What if the dragon actually liked him instead? After all, according to the description, a single roar from the creature could elevate weaker beings into supreme existences. Rayden quickly shook his head. "Nope. Absolutely not risking that."
The danger was far too great. He moved toward the next summon on the list. And the moment he saw it, his face twitched even harder than before.
**Three. The Hollow Eater**
**Title:** World Ender
**Description:** A colossal existence born within the void between collapsed universes. It possesses no fixed form, appearing instead as a shifting mass of mirrored darkness that consumes everything in its path. Wherever it passes, destruction and chaos inevitably follow. Worlds have been devoured. Realms erased. Entire civilizations reduced to nothingness.
Even the very concept of resistance becomes meaningless before it, for the Hollow Eater does not merely consume matter; it consumes existence itself. Ancient records claim that several civilizations once attempted to observe the creature directly. None survived long enough to record what they witnessed.
**Danger Level:** Unmeasurable
**Taming Success Rate:** 0%
Rayden’s face darkened immediately. "Why is this even on the list?" At this point, he was beginning to suspect whoever created this selection process genuinely wanted him dead. Without wasting more time cursing the creator of the list for gifting him universal horrors disguised as summon options, Rayden quickly moved on.
He began searching for something more realistic. Something he could actually tame. After all, there was no point staring at creatures capable of erasing existence if the taming success rate was practically nonexistent.
Hours passed. Then more hours. Yet the list still seemed endless. Hundreds. Thousands. Tens of thousands. Every summon was absurdly broken, yet nearly impossible to tame. The summon with the highest taming probability he had seen so far was the Celestial Kirin, and even that only possessed a taming success rate of 0.001%, which was still suicidal.
Eventually, Rayden finally grew irritated. "Wait... isn’t there supposed to be some kind of filter? At least show me summons I actually have a chance of contracting," he complained while glaring at the golden screen.
As though responding to his frustration, the system interface suddenly shifted. The endless sea of names vanished instantly before a completely different list appeared. This one was significantly shorter.
Well, shorter compared to the previous impossible list. Instead of countless trillions of names, this one merely contained several hundred thousand. More importantly, the taming success rates now displayed actual numbers without endless decimals. Ten percent. Five percent. Seven percent. And more.
Rayden immediately gave up trying to read through every single option one by one. Even if he spent an entire day here, he would never finish. Instead, he decided to narrow the search further. "Show summons with at least a ninety percent taming chance."
The golden screen flickered once more. This time, only several thousand names remained. Much better. Rayden spent the next few hours carefully reviewing the options, his gaze scanning countless descriptions. Eventually, four summons caught his attention.
The first was the **Fate Thread Spider**. According to the description, it was a primordial existence that did not belong to any known classification of life. Surprisingly, the spider itself was harmless. Friendly, even. It rarely attacked others willingly. However, the true danger of the creature lay elsewhere.
The Fate Thread Spider possessed the terrifying ability to influence the very strings of fate itself. A fortunate encounter could suddenly transform into unavoidable doom. A destined death might instead become miraculous survival. The spider constantly wove invisible threads around all existence, affecting fate itself.
The terrifying part? Not even the spider’s master could understand what fate it was weaving. Its danger classification read: Unstable Anomaly.
Rayden immediately felt conflicted. On one hand, the creature sounded unbelievably broken. On the other hand, it sounded like the type of summon that might accidentally ruin his entire life without even trying.
The second summon was the **Crimson Scale Serpent**. An ancient storm beast born within a realm where lightning never faded and rain never ceased. The serpent was practically the embodiment of storms and destruction itself. Although classified as a beast, its intelligence far surpassed most humanoid races.
There were obvious advantages to taming it. An ancient serpent capable of controlling lightning and storms? That alone was enough to make Rayden tempted. But there was a terrifying downside. When enraged, the serpent could not be calmed, reasoned with, or restrained.
It would vent its fury for thousands of years if necessary, leaving catastrophic destruction in its wake. So despite its strength, Rayden hesitated.
Then came the third summon, the **Slumbering World Tortoise**. From the name alone, one could already tell the creature was monstrously powerful. And it truly was. Unfortunately, there was a massive problem. The tortoise almost never woke up. It viewed literally everything as troublesome and preferred sleeping over all else.
Convincing the tortoise to move even slightly would probably be harder than convincing a demon that heaven was its birthplace. Rayden immediately imagined himself dying in battle while the tortoise continued sleeping peacefully nearby. "Yeah, absolutely not."
Finally, there was the fourth option. The moment Rayden read its description, he instinctively knew that this was the one.
**Name:** Primordial Mirror Beast Egg
**Description:** A mysterious lifeform originating from the earliest age of the multiverse. Very little information regarding this species exists. Ancient records describe the Mirror Beast as creatures capable of perfectly reflecting existence itself.
**Current State:** Dormant Egg
**Danger Level:** None
**Taming Success Rate:** 100%
**Additional Information:** The creature has yet to hatch and may therefore grow deeply attached to its master compared to ordinary summons. It is also capable of bonding to weaker hosts without issue.
Rayden smiled slowly. Finally. A perfect choice. There were simply too many advantages. First, his own system seemed unusually compatible with the Mirror Beast. Rayden suspected it had something to do with the similar nature between the system itself and the beast.
Reflection. Mirrors. Duplication. The connection felt strangely natural. Second, the creature would likely grow attached to him after hatching, which meant it probably would not suddenly erase him from existence. A major improvement compared to the previous summon options.
And third, Rayden already had a theory regarding the true ability of the Mirror Beast. If his speculation was correct, then this summon might actually possess even greater potential than the Fate Thread Spider or the Crimson Scale Serpent. As for the tortoise, that lazy creature did not even deserve comparison.
A new notification suddenly appeared before Rayden. [Would you like to tame the Primordial Mirror Beast Egg? When the Mirror Beast hatches, it will automatically recognize you as its master. YES / NO]
Rayden selected YES without hesitation. A brilliant radiance erupted instantly. Then, a small glass like egg appeared within his palm. It was smooth and perfectly round, reflecting his face upon its surface like a mirror. Oddly enough, despite feeling cold to the touch, the egg appeared extremely ordinary. Fragile, even. Nothing about it resembled some cosmic tier existence.
A notification echoed across the golden world. [The host will now be withdrawn back to the physical realm.]
Before Rayden could fully process the words, his body had already begun fading from the golden platform. The world blurred. The golden light dimmed. And as Rayden vanished completely, the massive golden system screen flickered once. Then new words slowly appeared across its surface.
[What a pity.]
A brief silence followed. Then another line appeared beneath it.
[The young human has no idea that he has just chosen the greatest anomaly in the multiverse as his companion. ]
[A pity indeed.].....
