Chapter 286 - 259: Snowfield Expansion Card
Qin Ziwen called his two pets over and used an Enhancement Card on each of them.
As a glow enveloped it, Red Hare stomped its hooves, its body growing even larger.
It let out a deep neigh.
Red Hare’s body swelled up on the spot, growing significantly larger.
It was now nearly four meters long, with a shoulder height exceeding two and a half meters.
Its entire body rippled with bulging, explosive muscles.
At this point, it had already begun to transcend the definition of a Mongolian Horse. To be more precise, it had transcended the definition of a natural horse!
The largest An’s Middle Horse in Earth’s history only had a shoulder height of two meters.
Red Hare was now in a class of its own.
Even the mutated Gobi Wild Horses from the Gobi Desert would be a full head shorter than the current Red Hare.
"Hmm, you’ve gotten bigger. Your speed can’t have gone down, can it? We’ll go for a run later and see how fast you are," Qin Ziwen said, looking to the other side.
The Beaked Eagle’s form also changed abruptly.
Its wings grew even larger, finally reaching a wingspan of ten meters.
Its head now reached a height of 3.2 meters. With its wings folded, it stood in place like a towering, muscular statue.
Qin Ziwen tried riding both the horse and the eagle and confirmed that their speeds had indeed increased.
Normally, once a creature reaches a certain size, its speed would actually decrease as it grows larger.
The excessive weight becomes a burden.
But this law didn’t apply to these two pets, which had broken through their limits to reach the Extraordinary level.
Their muscles, bones, and even the properties of every strand of hair and feather on their bodies could not be measured by ordinary biological standards.
’I wonder how fast the Mosasaurus is in the sea,’ Qin Ziwen mused. ’But I have a feeling it’s not as fast as you are now.’
At that thought, Qin Ziwen suddenly realized that Red Hare was now faster than the Mosasaurus.
’Could I get in front of the Mosasaurus and kite it?’
After giving the matter some serious thought, Qin Ziwen concluded it would still be difficult.
The main difficulty was that the Mosasaurus was, after all, an aquatic creature. It could move through the sea without relying on terrain, allowing it to travel in a straight line.
Red Hare, however, would have to gallop along the seabed, which was far from a flat plain. It had to contend with trenches, hills, coral reefs, and other obstacles, meaning it couldn’t run in a perfectly straight line.
So there was still a chance the Mosasaurus could catch up.
’We still need more speed. If it were faster, then even with complex terrain, we wouldn’t need to fear the Mosasaurus.’
[Extraordinary Victory Foot Mongolian Horse: ☆☆★★★]: Level 3 Indestructible Body, Level 3 All-Terrain Adaptation, Level 3 Champion’s Courage.
[Extraordinary Sky Wings Beaked Eagle: ☆☆★★★]: Level 3 Steel Claw, Level 3 Air Flow Manipulation, Level 3 Extreme Speed.
After handling his pets’ breakthroughs, Qin Ziwen took stock of his inventory and discovered he now had three Advanced Building Copy Cards.
Unfortunately, although he had the cards, he had no Advanced Buildings to copy. This card could only duplicate the finished *card* of an Advanced Building, not be used on the building itself.
Then there were the Human Physique Enhancement Cards. He now had five of them in his possession.
’It’s time to use these,’ he thought, caressing the faintly glowing Cards in his hand.
"One does not worry about scarcity, but about inequality."
Qin Ziwen understood this principle.
Without a reason that could placate the masses, distributing them rashly would turn this boon into a source of internal strife.
His gaze swept across the list of names.
It finally settled on the followers he had personally recruited.
After a moment of contemplation, Qin Ziwen summoned Li Tieshan.
"You’ve been working very hard lately, and I’ve noticed. But you must take care of your health. I don’t want my Great Blacksmith to collapse from overwork in the Military Equipment Supervisor’s workshop one day."
"It is no hardship, my lord!"
Li Tieshan said with conviction.
Qin Ziwen took out two Human Physique Enhancement Cards and used them on Li Tieshan.
"My lord, this is..."
Once the enhancement ended, Li Tieshan felt his strength more than double. His eyes began to sting. He clasped his fists and bowed deeply. "Iron Mountain shall use this body to forge ten thousand blades! I will never be unworthy of the transformative grace you have bestowed upon me today, my lord!"
Qin Ziwen waved his hand, a smile playing on his lips. "You’re picking up bad habits from Jia Liangcai. Where’d you learn to talk in such couplets?"
"They are words from the bottom of my heart!" Li Tieshan bowed again.
"All right. We’ve known each other a long time; I know you well. I trust you. Go and get Jia Liangcai for me."
A moment later, Jia Liangcai hurried over.
"My lord."
Qin Ziwen used Insight on him.
Still One Star.
His expression immediately darkened. "Didn’t I tell you to train at the practice grounds in your spare time? How is it your physical condition hasn’t changed?"
"Huh?"
Jia Liangcai was taken aback. ’Why is His Lordship suddenly concerned with such a minor detail?’
After a moment of deliberation, he replied, "Reporting to my lord, the affairs of our Home are many, and I have had no spare time to train."
"Hmm. When your constitution reaches Three Stars, I’ll have a surprise for you. So, work hard. Time is something you can always squeeze more of. Besides, don’t we have the Healing Spring? Sleep a little less. I doubt you get very sleepy at your age anyway."
Jia Liangcai’s eyes flashed as he seemed to guess something.
A look of gratitude immediately appeared on his face. "Yes, my lord."
After Jia Liangcai left, Qin Ziwen moved to another area and used his newly acquired Snowfield Expansion Card (Large).
A flash of light shot out. The gray fog at the boundary peeled back in layers, revealing a vast, silvery-white expanse.
The moonlight from above the Island spilled onto the snow.
A chill entered the air.
Thankfully, the patch of snow wasn’t very large or deep.
Qin Ziwen stepped onto the snow, his foot sinking about thirty centimeters deep.
He crouched down and scooped up a handful of snow. Strangely, the temperature in this area seemed to be kept constant.
The moment one stepped into the snowy area, the temperature dropped abruptly. It defied all scientific explanation.
Furthermore, there was nothing in this snowfield but snow—no trees, no grass.
Just like the desert was nothing but pure sand.
Red Hare, as if it had discovered a new toy, ran over. Feeling the cold snow under its hooves, it began to frolic and gallop across the surface.
An idea seemed to strike it. It dashed off in a flash and returned a moment later with Black in tow.
Tailing Red Hare, Black looked just like a little sidekick.
Upon discovering the new snowy expanse, Black’s eyes lit up with excitement.
Black had never seen snow before and found it fascinating.
It charged in and plopped its rear down in the snow. The icy chill made its butthole pucker, and it shot right back to its feet.
It spun in a circle, then pounced like a hungry tiger into a snowdrift. It opened its great maw and swallowed a clump of snow, the icy sensation making its eyes roll back in its head.
The Beaked Eagle, however, was unwilling to show such a childish side.
It spread its wings and flew deeper into the expanse. After looking back to confirm that Red Hare and Black were minding their own business, it extended a talon and furtively pressed it into the snow, leaving a deep print.
Apparently unsatisfied with the print, it hopped, changed its stance, and made another one.
Red Hare and Black came roughhousing nearby. Hearing the commotion, the Beaked Eagle raised its head and, with an impassive air, swept its wings over the ground to erase the prints.
Lifting its neck haughtily, it then began to saunter slowly away.
