My Dreams Connect to Ancient Times
Chapter 417 - 61: Lu Xuan Draws His Sword, Nuwa Rises, the Emperor Corpse Will Enter the World
The deeper one went into this so-called Demon Tomb, the dimmer and more oppressive it became. Starlight shimmered within, carrying the weight of ancient years.
Lu Xuan frowned slightly, maintaining a baseline vigilance as he walked slowly, step by step. He looked around, his gaze fixed on the murals carved into the walls of the passage.
The murals had been weathered by untold years and were long faded, but one could still faintly discern the scenes they depicted.
There was a Three-legged Bird dazzling the world, a creature resembling both fish and roc that churned the seas for a hundred thousand li, a True Dragon coiling as it extended its claws, and a Divine Phoenix crying out with its head thrown back...
They all seemed to be depictions of supreme Great Demons from ancient times.
Lu Xuan continued his slow walk into the depths. After a long time, he stopped on a wide platform.
"You’ve come."
A low, oppressive voice like a muffled drum boomed across the platform. The speaker was an old man seated in the very center, his back to Lu Xuan, his features obscured. Beside him, a woman knelt prostrate, her head lowered, her face also hidden from view.
Beyond the old man, however, one could see thirty-six imposing coffins. They were all sealed tightly shut, exuding an aura of decay brought by the passage of time.
"You are..."
Hearing the old man’s somewhat familiar voice, Lu Xuan’s expression tensed, and he asked calmly.
The thirty-six imposing coffins trembled slightly, but the old man with his back to Lu Xuan simply pressed down with his hand. A wave of Chaos Qi rippled out, sealing and isolating all the Coffins and Caskets.
The Chaos Qi also sealed the senses of the kneeling woman beside him, plunging her into a dazed stupor.
After doing all this, the old man at the stone table finally turned around, a smile on his face.
"Xiaoxuan, it’s been a long time."
"..."
Lu Xuan’s expression changed, but he still performed the bow of a junior and said in a heavy voice,
"Grandpa Chu."
The man sitting at the stone table was, indeed, Chu Tai.
Chu Tai smiled and gestured for him to sit.
"Sit and talk."
Lu Xuan did not refuse. He walked over to the stone table and slowly sat down, a hint of surprise in his eyes as he glanced at the young woman kneeling nearby, her senses completely sealed.
He had some recollection of this young woman; she had appeared in Lu Xuan’s Tomb before. If he remembered correctly, she was called... Chu Han?
Chu Tai gave a light wave of his hand, and two cups of hot tea appeared on the stone table. He then pushed one of the cups forward and said with a smile,
"This tea is quite good. It’s from the Innate Tea Tree. Very rare."
He paused, noticing Lu Xuan’s gaze fixed on Chu Han, and smiled again.
"She’s a handmaiden I took in long ago. Her aptitude is quite good. Over a year ago, when you entered the tomb, I had her follow you to look after you."
Lu Xuan nodded silently, his mind racing with a thousand thoughts. He first took a sip of the tea, feeling the torrent of rich Innate Material and the exquisite cadence of principles explode in his mouth.
Then, he looked at Chu Tai and asked softly,
"Grandpa Chu, are you the Demon Ancestor?"
Even though he knew Chu Tai was a proxy for Taiyi and was constantly plotting something against him, Lu Xuan still treated him with respect.
There was no other reason. If not for Chu Tai, he would have frozen to death in the bitter cold long ago. The bond forged over seven years of depending on one another for survival was not something he could simply forget.
Chu Tai smiled gently, the layers of wrinkles on his face deepening.
He was just like an ordinary old man as he spoke slowly and leisurely,
"It’s not me, and I don’t know who it is either... Taiyi should know, but to guard against the eyes of the Goddess, there are many things that only Taiyi knows, not me."
"Then why are you here?" Lu Xuan asked softly. "My suppression for the past month... that must have something to do with you, right?"
Chu Tai nodded and said,
"In a way, yes. To be precise, it was Taiyi’s will. In terms of Cause and Effect, I am half of Taiyi, so I am indeed involved."
As he spoke, he gave another light wave of his hand, and Innate Ancient Tea Water manifested from the void, refilling Lu Xuan’s cup.
Seeing this, Lu Xuan’s expression tensed. He was not the same man he once was; he now understood how formidable this tea water was. He had only taken a single sip, and his Spiritual Sense had sharpened considerably, while the qi and blood in his Physique, already close to the Dao, had strengthened immensely.
’And yet, Grandpa Chu had created this from thin air using Mediation of Creation. Although I could do the same now, it would most likely leave me completely exhausted, my Essence, Qi, and Spirit utterly drained.’
Taking another sip of tea, feeling his Spiritual Sense continue to rise and the qi and blood surge through his body, Lu Xuan asked again,
"What is it that you truly want?"
"I’m doing this for your own good," Chu Tai said, looking at Lu Xuan gently. "I’m always on my grandson’s side."
Lu Xuan remained silent.
At this, Chu Tai sighed in resignation and said calmly,
"The Demon Ancestor and the Buddha Mother don’t actually know the reason for your suppression here, but your grandpa can tell you."
"In a little over two months, the world will undergo an ascension, becoming able to accommodate the presence of Immortal-level Existences walking the Great Heaven and Earth. Another year after that, the Immortals, gods, ghosts, and Buddhas will all begin to return."
"It will start with some True Immortals at the Heaven-Facing Palace level, then the Immortals, and then those of the Celestial Realms. One after another, the Great Heaven and Earth will return to its original glory."
"Half of the Demons in this Demon Tomb have a deep bond of Cause and Effect with you. When the first wave of Immortal Gods returns, they can be your allies. One of the reasons I brought you here was for you to get to know them."
Lu Xuan narrowed his eyes slightly. He first bowed in thanks, then said frankly,
"But originally, you wanted to suppress me for ten years... Ten years isn’t a long time, but by then, wouldn’t this Great Heaven and Earth already be full of Immortals and Buddhas?"
"Not to that extent," Chu Tai replied with a smile. "It’s only ten years. The returning Immortals and Buddhas would likely only be up to the Immortal tier. At most, a few from the Celestial Realms might force their return."
He paused for a moment before continuing his patient explanation.
"And after the Immortals and Buddhas return, make no mistake, their first target will be to suppress and kill you. Having you hide for ten years... that’s also for your own good, you see..."
