Chapter 802
Chapter 802
Anton did not rest that night and continued creating the Cloak of Shadows Tablets using the wooden tablets that Raymond had acquired from somewhere. After he got used to inscribing the level one mana structure of the Cloak of Shadows spell on the wooden tablets, he increased the level until he reached the maximum that the wooden tablet could hold, which was just around level two or three.
Still, even with just a level two or level three Cloak of Shadows, the effects were already extremely good. The Wooden Tablet of Cloak of Shadows had a maximum durability of just around ten uses, and after that, the wooden tablets would be destroyed.
Anton thought that once he inscribed the spell on a higher-level material like mithril, the durability would increase exponentially. Unlike the wooden tablets, wherein the durability was tied to the amount of mana that was stored in their mana battery, Anton knew that the durability of a higher-level material would solely be tied to the number of skill uses. The wooden tablet’s mana storage couldn’t be refilled, which meant that once its mana was spent, the wooden tablet of the cloak of shadows would be destroyed. Unlike using a higher-level material, a wizard could refill its mana storage the same way a caster could refill any of Anton’s enchanted items. By simply casting a spell on the item. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
Anton had also removed the physical switch to turn on the skill and turned it into a virtual slide switch. The switch was turned into a rune that could be moved into two places, to the right or to the left of its designated place. Moving the rune to the right would turn the skill of the magic item on, and moving it to the left would turn it off. He still felt that it was extremely awkward, especially if the magic items that he would inscribe the spell into were small ones, like a pendant or a pair of earrings.
After Anton achieved a success rate of more than ninety percent in creating the Wooden Tablet of Cloak of Shadow, he retrieved one of the mithril accessories that was given to him by Sudarta. It was a pair of bracers. He chose the bracers because the area where he could create the mana structure of the mana battery, the mana structure of the spell itself, and everything else he needed, like the structure for the switch, was larger.
While studying the bracers to check the areas where Anton could inscribe the mana structures he needed to create the Mithril Bracers of Cloak of Shadows, he needed to do more experiments. First was to check if he could melt high-level materials.
Since melting magic metals was extremely dangerous, Anton chose to do it inside his Diablo System. Just like before, he chose the area just outside the Rogue Encampment in the Normal Difficulty of his Sorceress character. He borrowed the items he needed to melt the magic metals from Charsi.
Anton was extremely delighted that he could melt all the magic metals that his teammates had given him. Charsi did tell him that only magic could melt magic metals, and he was using a variation of the Inferno spell to try to melt the materials.
Once he was successful in melting one of the magic metal ores, he proceeded to melt all those that were in ore form. He formed them into an item as large as a modern-day smartphone on Earth. He chose that form because first, he wasn’t a jeweler who could create beautiful accessories. Second, the smartphone look had a surface area that Anton could use to easily inscribe all the mana structures that he would need.
Regarding how the user would use or carry his magic items that were shaped like a smartphone, he would let the user handle them. There was even a chance that a new form of industry would be created to accommodate his magic phone items, like leather cases that could be strapped to an arm, or leather cases that had a leather lace so that the user could wear his phone magic items around his neck, or leather cases that could be used as a belt.
Once he was done, Anton had several tens of smartphone-sized metals formed from different magic metals like Mithril, Adamantine, Orichalcum, and more. Anton was highly amused while looking at the bunch of his smartphones.
Anton wondered how Captain Joraniah would react once he received the item that had the Cloak of Shadow, which looked like a smartphone.
After he had collected a bunch of metals that looked like a smartphone, he proceeded to test the Mithril metals first, regarding how high a level of Cloak of Shadow he could inscribe onto it. After several hours, the highest Cloak of Shadow skill he managed to create was level thirteen.
He created a couple of Mithril Cloak of Shadows Tablets. One had a level thirteen Cloak of Shadows spell, the second one had a level twelve Cloak of Shadows spell. When he checked the time, he only had five hours left before the allotted two-day vacation that the captain had given everyone.
Anton stored everything in his inventory and informed Raymond once he was back in his room that he needed to return to Nermador. Raymond nodded and told him that he would just summon Anton if needed to, using the magic earrings.
Once he was back in his room in Nermador, Anton decided to rest since there were still a few hours left before the vacation time was over. After activating the Pearl of the Ocean item, Anton slept.
When he woke up, Anton had only slept for three hours, but he felt well rested. He freshened up and then went outside his room to look for Captain Joraniah. With the help of one of the maids, he was led to the captain’s office. There, he found the captain, Mishos, and Sudarta were having a meeting.
“Do you need anything?” The captain asked.
“Are we still on vacation?” Anton asked.
“No, but we haven’t received a mission yet. I received information that we might receive our next mission by tomorrow. In the meantime, we will spend the time training,” the captain said.
“I’ve completed the items that you’re requesting,” Anton said, handing the two Mithril Tablets of Cloak of Shadows to the captain. Captain Joraniah looked surprised, which meant that he was not expecting that Anton could complete the assignment immediately.
He explained how one would use the tablets, like how to turn them on and off, the mana battery indicator, which basically would inform the user the best time to store mana onto the item by casting spells on it, and the durability indicator stated that the tablets could used for more than two thousand times, and once it had reached that allotted number of uses, the tablet would be destroyed.
“Why is it in this form?” Sudarta asked while examining the Mithril Tablets of the Cloak of Shadows.
“That’s the easiest form I can make the magic metals since I’m not a jeweler, and that form also allows me to inscribe the mana structure of my spells more easily.”
Anton told the captain, Sudarta, and Mishos that the Cloak of Shadows spell inscribed on the Mithril Tablet had half of the actual power of the spell that he could cast. He also shared with Sudarta the drawings that he had made regarding what types of accessories a user could use to carry the tablets more conveniently.
