My Husband, a Marshal: Conquering the Stars with My Culinary Arts
Chapter 755 - 256 Extra (6)
After the cooking competition, Du Xixi visibly relaxed quite a bit. Though she remained diligent as always, she learned to allocate some rest time for herself. Today was one such day; after finishing her knife skills practice, she leisurely went out for a walk.
The location for her walk was none other than the park populated by many elderly people, a place she found perfect for calming her mind after practice, and...
"Sister!" A little boy dressed in a ginger-yellow tracksuit emerged from some corner, holding a clean little ball in his arms. There wasn’t much of a smile, but his eyes shone brightly as he looked at Du Xixi, and his pace was swift as he ran over.
Du Xixi smiled, bending down and opening her arms, effortlessly scooping up little Ke Su in her embrace. She was quite adept at holding Susu now. Instead of standing him by her side, she sat the not-so-heavy Susu on her lap: "How’s Susu today! Have you missed sister?"
"Yes!" Ke Su obediently lifted his head, offering Du Xixi a small smile, which she found satisfying since, besides Ke Yong, Susu only smiled for her.
Noticing a small smudge on Ke Su’s chin, Du Xixi gently wiped it away with a handkerchief she carried, cautious not to hurt him, as she softly asked, "Where’s your brother? Why are you out looking for me alone again today?"
"The bodyguard brothers are with me; brother went on a business trip and will return tomorrow." Ke Su patted the ball in his arms, then pointed to several black-suited bodyguards not far away who were watching intently, "Brother said they would protect me and sister well."
"It’s good if they protect you!" Du Xixi playfully tickled Ke Su’s little nose, leaning closer to whisper, "I also have some bodyguard brothers around, but they’re hidden. Does Susu want to try finding them?"
Now that Du Xixi was set to be the future leader of the Du Family, along with the fame from the cooking competition, her status had elevated considerably. She was often accompanied by bodyguards arranged by her grand uncle, except when she was at home.
However, having a group of bodyguards around drew too much attention. People might not recognize her yet but would speculate based on the bodyguards. Hence, most bodyguards stayed hidden, maintaining a safe distance where they could protect Du Xixi without drawing attention.
As for little Ke Su, it’s understandable to have bodyguard protection since he’s still young, and the family might be worried, whereas Du Xixi, being an adult, needed to be more cautious.
Ke Su’s eyes lit up but then quietly responded, "Nah, if Susu finds them, others might too, and then they won’t be able to properly protect sister."
Du Xixi chuckled, "For someone so young, you sure think deeply!" Seeing that Susu truly didn’t want to look for the hidden bodyguards, she moved on from the topic. After sitting together for a while longer, she stood up holding Susu: "Shall we go back with sister to eat?"
"Yes! Eat meat meat!" The day after Du Xixi finished her cooking competition, she personally took Ke Su back to the Du Family for a meal. Although it was just an ordinary lunch, anyone picked at the Du Family would have top-notch culinary skills. After eating, Ke Su couldn’t forget it for days, and Du Xixi had the pleasure of seeing Susu begging his brother to bring him along to a Du family meal.
At that time, Ke Yong was still in a suit, seeming to have just finished a meeting, showing signs of exhaustion. Despite being reluctantly dragged over by his brother, his demeanor was gentle.
Ke Yong only joined for a meal that once, and later, apparently, he needed to expand business overseas, getting busier with work. Du Xixi didn’t see him again, while even Ke Su was occasionally entrusted to the Du Family for care due to the inconvenience of taking him abroad.
Reportedly, the Ke Family had no other close relatives, and since Ke Su was shy, after much consideration, they decided to entrust him to the Du Family. Altogether, the visits didn’t exceed ten days, and the Du Family welcomed Ke Su’s arrival.
The elder generation loved having a little kid like Ke Su around to bring some liveliness to the house.
Du Xixi had quite a bit of strength, easily carrying Ke Su all the way back without getting tired. She even had energy to occasionally toss Ke Su gently and catch him carefully. The journey home was filled with playful laughter between Du Xixi and Ke Su.
