Chapter 216: New Home

Damian followed behind his wives with Rin perched atop his head, its tiny eyes narrowed with open hostility as it glared at the three women. The malicious intent rolling off the fox was impossible to miss, yet the girls were long accustomed to it.

This damned fox had been a problem even during Lin Qui’s era.

If not for Lin Qui’s overwhelming affection for them, there had been several occasions where Rin could have successfully gotten them cast aside.

The memories remained vivid.

Like the time they attacked the Prince of Envy after he insulted Lin Qui publicly. The prince had demanded the head of one of them as compensation for the humiliation, yet Rin had calmly argued that all three heads should be offered instead.

That single incident nearly plunged the entirety of Velmora into war.

Lin Qui had chosen violence without hesitation.

Thousands died before the council finally intervened and forced an end to the conflict.

Damian, however, was not Lin Qui.

With their former husband, they had lived like untamed birds soaring through endless skies, wandering from realm to realm while spreading his influence across the universe through chaos and desire. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

Damian was different. He was not a free spirit.

Beneath his indulgence was structure. Beneath his recklessness was direction. He desired order in ways they still struggled to fully understand.

And that frightened them more than they cared to admit.

"So... how is work going? What new case are you handling now?" Hazel asked softly, trying to ease the tension as they climbed the stairs.

Damian shrugged casually.

"Work is alright."

That was all. Nothing more.

The brief response made it painfully clear he had no interest in continuing the conversation, so the rest of the walk passed in silence as they led him quietly toward the attic.

Damian stopped before the staircase leading up into the upper space, his eyes settling on the attic door in silence.

"So basically... if I walk through this door, I end up in California?" he asked, disbelief still lingering faintly in his tone.

These were the kinds of things people only saw in films.

Ruby stepped forward and pulled the attic door open.

Beyond it was not darkness.

A gray veil of mist filled the doorway completely, obscuring everything beyond the threshold.

"We would never lie to you," Hazel said softly as she slipped her hand into his.

Damian neither pulled away nor acknowledged the gesture. His eyes remained fixed on the strange veil for several quiet seconds before he finally stepped forward and walked into it.

The first thing Damian heard, even before the gray mist obscuring his vision faded away, was the roar of fierce wind crashing against the world outside. Then came the heavy rain.

The kind that battered against glass and earth alike with relentless force.

Damian’s vision slowly cleared, revealing what appeared to be a storage room overflowing with newly empty boxes of purchased items. Stacks of boxes filled nearly every corner, leaving barely enough room to walk through.

Yet Damian paid none of it any attention.

He stepped forward slowly and shut his eyes, allowing himself to focus on the sounds beyond the walls.

The crashing rhythm of waves.

The restless movement of water in the distance.

The ocean.

Damian inhaled deeply, tasting the salt lingering in the air. For a brief moment, his thoughts drifted back to the Maldives, memories of that trip surfacing vividly within his mind.

"Ooh, fuck... he likes it," Rin muttered with an annoyed roll of its eyes.

Swoosh!

Damian exploded forward with frightening speed.

Blurs flashed through the mansion as he raced from room to room, moving through the entire building in mere moments.

Bam!

In less than thirty seconds, he had explored all fifteen plus rooms of the main house before finally stopping inside the master bedroom.

At the center of the room stood a massive heart-shaped bed wrapped in soft pink sheets. A giant portrait of Damian himself hung proudly against the wall.

Yet none of those things managed to hold his attention.

Not for even a second.

"The glass wall..." Damian gasped softly.

The entire side of the room was made of towering glass panels that revealed the world beyond in breathtaking clarity.

From where he stood, he could see the vast green fields stretching toward the distant shoreline while waves crashed endlessly against the coast below. Resting peacefully near the water was a massive black and purple yacht, swaying gently beneath the stormy sky.

Damian’s breath caught.

For a moment, he imagined waking up to this view every single morning.

And honestly... He felt he would become a far happier man.

"Do you like it?" Hazel asked softly as she stepped beside him.

"We saved the room with the best view for you," Racheal added from his other side, slipping her hand into his and leaning gently against him.

Ruby approached from behind, pressing herself warmly against his back as she rested her chin upon his shoulder.

Rin let out a low growl but remained silent.

Damian slowly nodded.

"It’s really nice," he admitted honestly. "I like it."

The girls lit up instantly, their smiles blooming with pure excitement as they clung to him even tighter, looking as though they had just won the greatest prize in the world.

"That’s not all," Hazel added quickly, eager to salvage the mood before it slipped away again.

"We have a pool in the backyard overlooking our private forest. There are seven guest cottages too, and the entire sea is open for us to explore peacefully whenever you feel stressed." Her voice carried clear excitement, but Damian’s expression barely changed.

The excitement never truly reached his eyes.

He gently pulled away from his wives and walked toward the balcony in silence, stopping only when he reached the edge. There, he stood staring at the distant ocean while rain battered the coastline below.

"You are very easy to impress," Rin scoffed from atop his head.

Damian rolled his eyes.

"Well, I haven’t seen much, so it’s natural," he replied with an indifferent shrug.

Swoosh!

Without warning, Damian shot into the air.

The force behind his takeoff scattered wind violently across the balcony as he ascended high enough to gain a complete view of the estate below.

And for a moment even he had to admit it was magnificent.

The massive main mansion stood proudly at the center of the property like the heart of a private kingdom, surrounded by several smaller buildings spread across the land. The estate itself rested in a fairly isolated region, far from the noise and chaos of civilization.

Behind the mansion stretched a vast private forest that climbed steadily uphill into the distance, darkened slightly beneath the heavy rain clouds.

At the edge of the cliffs below, two luxurious pathways had been carved directly into the stone itself, descending elegantly toward the dock where the black and purple yacht rested peacefully against the crashing waves.

Everything combined covered somewhere between forty to sixty acres of land.

From above, the entire property looked unreal. Almost dreamlike.

"Can you get down now? I’m getting cold."

Rin’s annoyed voice snapped Damian out of his thoughts, reminding him he was still hovering motionlessly in midair.

Damian reached up lazily, grabbed the little fox by its fur, and brought it down in front of his face.

"You really love bothering me," he muttered with a dull stare.

Rin let out a mischievous giggle.

"Only when you do something I don’t like."
