My Perfect Female CEO - Chapter 1183: The Terminator Is Nothing but a Pawn
The Ghost Squad and the Hunting Team took the initiative to clear a path. Ye Fan walked through the crowd, heading straight for Garcia.
At this point, the people from the Ghost Squad and the Hunting Team also backed off. They were afraid that after Deceitful Fox lured Ye Fan over, he would wipe them out along with Ye Fan in one go. If that really happened, then their fate would be indescribably tragic.
So the moment they saw Ye Fan appear, they immediately obeyed the Third Elder and the Fourth Elder’s order to retreat at full speed, just in case.
"Mr. Ye, take care." Smith said solemnly. He knew the Third Elder and the Fourth Elder had already issued a secret retreat order, which meant they planned to abandon the Terminator. But he had followed Terminator for so many years, and sincerely admired the man. At this moment, although he was reluctant, he still had no choice but to follow orders.
Captains like Smith were completely different from the people in the Ghost Squad. Most of the captains were upright, tough men, whereas the Ghost Squad’s members were scum and cold-blooded animals who’d walked out of various prisons.
Ye Fan glanced at Smith, but didn’t say anything.
"Terminator, long time no see." Garcia looked at Ye Fan, filled with indescribable emotion and sighs. Once, the idol in his heart had ended up standing against the organization, becoming the executioner that destroyed it. No one could’ve predicted such an outcome, but when true opposition came, he still felt deep regret. Personally, he loathed Terminator’s choice.
"Garcia, long time no see." Ye Fan said calmly. He knew Garcia.
"You’re still the same as before—acting like you’ve already won, always so sure of yourself, so confident that everything is in your hands. As if nothing, and no one, can stir your emotions." Garcia said with a hint of nostalgia.
As for Ye Fan’s choice, he couldn’t say he was truly furious. More than anything, he just accepted it with cold indifference.
If Ye Fan had never appeared, he wouldn’t have such an enemy. But since Ye Fan stood on the opposing side, then he was the enemy.
This was an unavoidable result, and Garcia could only accept it.
"Deceitful Fox couldn’t wait to see me, so he could mock me and tear me down, right?" Ye Fan said meaningfully.
"You can talk about that after you see Deceitful Fox." Garcia said, then politely added, "Please."
Led by Garcia, Ye Fan met Deceitful Fox.
"Terminator, long time no see." Adams greeted him, his tone mixed with complicated emotions.
"Long time no see." Ye Fan replied.
Those simple four words carried a lot of bitterness, easily bringing back memories of those glorious, turbulent years.
"You’re here?" Deceitful Fox looked at Ye Fan, and his emotions actually calmed down in a strangely quiet way. He said coolly, "I once imagined countless times that if I saw you with my own eyes one day, I would be furious, full of killing intent. But when I really saw you, those emotions were gone. My heart instead became quiet. It’s a strange feeling."
Deceitful Fox just looked at Ye Fan like that, neither sad nor happy, only calm.
"I’m here." Ye Fan answered lightly, giving a response to Deceitful Fox’s question.
When Ye Fan and Deceitful Fox opened their mouths, neither wasted words. Just the same simple two characters: here.
The only difference was that Deceitful Fox’s tone was interrogative, while Ye Fan’s was certain.
"You’re out of cards. You’ve lost completely. There’s no chance of turning the tables. You’ve already accepted the outcome that comes with failure. So once you see through all of that, what’s there to be afraid of? You no longer hold any hatred for me." Ye Fan said slowly.
"You’re right. I lost completely, utterly, with nothing left." Deceitful Fox sighed, then smiled and said, "I never expected that one day I would lose this cleanly. That’s what surprises me."
"You can’t hold up a collapsing building. This result is only natural." Ye Fan said. "Even if Sky Net hadn’t risen, some other force would have, replacing the God Organization and taking the peak throne of the Underworld. That takes someone with ambition. But you lost your ambition and only clung on defensively, trying to protect yourself. That’s no different from waiting to die."
"Yeah. I’m not capable enough to hold up the banner of the God Organization. In this world, if you don’t move forward, you’ll be replaced by other forces. It really is just waiting for death. I already expected that, but being powerless can’t change the situation." Deceitful Fox was actually quite calm, as if he were talking to someone he hadn’t seen for years about a life embedded with blades and shadows. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
Ye Fan and Deceitful Fox stood there, looking at each other, talking for a long while.
"Sit down. Before I die, being able to talk face to face with you like this, I’m already satisfied." Deceitful Fox said politely. In the past, he’d been Terminator’s superior, but times had changed, and he no longer carried the slightest air of a boss.
He also knew that now, standing in front of Ye Fan, he no longer had anything to do with the word "superior."
Ye Fan sat down. As for Deceitful Fox calmly accepting death, he had nothing extra to say.
Garcia and Adams stood to the side, quietly watching Ye Fan and Deceitful Fox, saying nothing.
"I asked to see you, and you came so quickly. I’m sure Sky Net has already abandoned you." Deceitful Fox switched into mockery. "When I declared the castle was rigged with bombs underneath, the Ghost Squad and the Hunting Team were scared half to death. They were all on edge, afraid I’d drag them into the grave with me by accident. But when I said I wanted to see you, both the Ghost Squad and the Hunting Team sighed in unison with relief. They knew you would come. That meant they had a chance to live."
"From the Third Elder and the Fourth Elder at the top, down to every single member of the Ghost Squad and the Hunting Team, they all instinctively believe you’re just a piece on the board. And at critical moments, pieces are meant to be sacrificed. To salvage the bigger picture, they have to be."
"Right now, in the eyes of the Third Elder and the Fourth Elder, the lives of the Ghost Squad and the Hunting Team are far more important than yours."
"Sky Net knows what the price of coercing you would be, and that in the end you’re destined to become an enemy. So they might as well let you make a sacrifice now to save the Ghost Squad and the Hunting Team. That’s the greatest value you can offer."
"Do you know why the Third Elder and the Fourth Elder could abandon you without even thinking about it?"
"Because you’re far too unimportant. You were always going to become Sky Net’s enemy. Handing your life and death over to me like this is the best favor they could do for me, and the most dismissive way of dealing with you."
"In the end, in the heart of anyone in Sky Net, the mighty Terminator is just a pawn that can be thrown away at any time. No one has ever truly cared about you."
Deceitful Fox spoke on and on without stopping.
