Chapter 447 - 246: The Followers of the Eisolres Blue Dragonflight
On the sturdy ironwood dining table, a large bowl of stew the size of a washbasin sat, steaming with an enticing aroma.
It wasn’t just because it hadn’t cooled yet; underneath the large bowl of stew, there was a smokeless charcoal fire. Tiny flames licked the black bottom of the pot, keeping the stew piping hot.
"Wow~ it smells so good!" Laisa’s nose twitched slightly, revealing an expression of irresistible craving, "There must be carrots, onions, herbs, hmm... and maybe beer, no wonder it smells so good?"
"Huh? Raine, is your girlfriend a chef?"
Humbert initially beamed with satisfaction at Laisa’s praise, but when he heard Laisa nearly list all the ingredients like a treasure trove, he couldn’t help but become curious.
Hearing the word ’girlfriend’, Laisa’s cheeks immediately turned red, and her little mouth stammered twice wanting to refute, but for some reason, she unexpectedly lowered her head, as if by a stroke of fate.
However, if you look closely, you’ll notice that although her head is bowed, Laisa’s bright eyes are secretly glancing at Raine, seemingly wanting to see his reaction.
"Yes, Laisa is an excellent chef." Raine initially wanted to explain, but noticing Laisa’s shy demeanor, he thought for a moment, and instead of clarifying, he vaguely answered to preserve the girl’s dignity.
The words ’Yes’ rang like a great bell in Laisa’s ears, her heart pounding loudly!
’Raine didn’t deny it either!’
’What should I do?’
’Does Raine like me too?’
’Should I accept it? Or not?’
’But if I accept, how will I face Elise!’
Laisa’s face grew increasingly flushed, and for a moment, she forgot to savor the food.
"This ’Meat and Bean Stew’ is a specialty of the Iron Hills. The meat refers to the main ingredients, wild goat meat and venison, while the beans are dry beans and potatoes, complemented by carrots, onions..." Humbert introduced with a beaming smile.
Humbert’s words gradually pulled Laisa’s scattered and confused thoughts back to reality.
"Lord Humbert, what’s the specific cooking process? The wild goat meat and venison should be seared before stewing, right?" Driven by her love for food, Laisa couldn’t help but inquire in detail.
"Well..." Humbert was immediately stumped by Laisa’s detailed culinary question.
"I’ll have the chef answer you later."
....
An hour later, amidst laughter and chatter, the three of them were soon satisfied after a good meal and drinks.
As they were leaving the tavern, intending to settle Raine and Laisa into a hotel for rest, Humbert, after a moment of thought, changed his mind and said to Raine:
"Raine, you better come with me to see Elder Grenum."
Perhaps out of a natural fondness for an increasingly talented disciple, or maybe to avoid Raine misunderstanding his mentor’s efforts as perfunctory, and of course, perhaps because alcohol made his mind sharper, Humbert thought it would be more appropriate to bring Raine along.
Moreover, the success rate might be slightly higher.
After all, Raine was his disciple, and having such a talented disciple as the focus of their request alongside him might be more persuasive to Elder Grenum.
"Alright." Although Raine was somewhat surprised by Humbert’s sudden change of heart, he did not hesitate and immediately nodded in agreement.
...
Half an hour later.
Inside the Deep Furnace Hall.
Amidst the surging heat waves and the clanging of metal, Raine followed Humbert, looking around curiously.
There were at least a hundred Dwarf Blacksmiths hammering various forms of equipment, and what intrigued Raine the most were the numerous large golems involved in the forging and casting processes.
Most of these golems were three to four meters tall, constructed of metal or stone. They didn’t move fast, but they were steady, handling many of the mechanical labor tasks, including moving hundreds of kilograms of iron and copper ingots.
At this point, Humbert stopped in front of an elderly Dwarf with a bushy white beard, wielding a heavy forging hammer, meticulously crafting a piece of armor.
Raine’s gaze quickly swept over the elder.
The elder had a white beard tied with an iron ring, reddish-brown hair, a bulbous nose, and like most dwarves, a small flask hung from his waist.
However, this flask seemed to be made of steel, its overall contour flat and rectangular, reminiscent of an old military canteen from Raine’s previous life.
Raine immediately sensed the highly concentrated, tempestuous aura emanating from the elder.
’Mid-Tier Transcendent?’
Evidently, this must be Elder Grenum, the forging master.
"Humbert! What brings you here?" Recognizing the visitor, Elder Grenum glanced at Humbert with mock exasperation.
"Elder Grenum, this is my disciple, Raine." Humbert rubbed his hands, slightly bowing, and spoke somewhat ingratiatingly.
"Oh? Level 5 Classes, a rare talent among humans. You’ve found a great protégé, haven’t you? What, do you want me to forge a weapon for him?"
Upon hearing Humbert’s words, Grenum shifted his focus from the armor before him to Raine, taking a moment to assess Raine’s level.
Believing he had largely guessed the purpose of Humbert’s visit with his disciple in tow, Grenum mused.
"No, no, Elder, I wish to request the use of the ancient flame furnace for my disciple."
