Chapter 616: Chapter 587: Threat

Melody Thorne always gazed at him coldly, but for some reason, when she saw Hans Montrose looking at her like that, her heart began to soften. Hans Montrose had never looked at her that way before.

But thinking about how he treated her, Melody Thorne’s gaze turned cold again, and she said nothing as she turned her head to one side.

Hans Montrose felt a bitterness in his throat, knowing he was somewhat delusional, so he didn’t push her further. The result was all the same; she would have to stay here for a month.

"You should rest well here for now. I’ll arrange for you to see him tomorrow," Hans Montrose turned his back, a shadow of loneliness hanging over him.

"Alright," Melody Thorne’s gaze fell on the princess bed inside. Although Hans Montrose was forcing her now, she believed he wouldn’t do anything more outrageous to her.

So she lay down on the big bed assuredly. Jared Quinn and Quinn Family should have returned home by now. They had only been gone a day, and she already couldn’t help but miss them. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮

Melody Thorne hardly slept the whole night, getting up very early.

"Didn’t sleep well?" Hans Montrose walked in, carrying breakfast he personally prepared according to her taste.

Hans Montrose had a thorough understanding of her preferences.

"When exactly can I see him? Since I’ve agreed to stay here, I definitely won’t back out halfway," Melody Thorne stared at him.

"I’ll take you after we eat, but if you keep speaking to me in this tone, I might not take you. Do you want him to see that the person who saved him is now using him to threaten you?" Hans Montrose looked at her with a smile.

Just like before, his eyes looked at her with a desire to protect rather than to compel.

"Don’t worry. When I see him, I’ll tell him you’re my friend," Melody Thorne spoke expressionlessly, trying hard to hold back from losing her temper with him.

"Not just a friend. I’ve explained to him that you’re now my fiancée," Hans Montrose’s lips still held a smile.

Melody Thorne lowered her gaze, knowing that persuading Hans Montrose now was useless. Once he decided on something, he would see it through, just like she did with Jared Quinn before.

After breakfast, Hans Montrose took her to a place set up as a private hospital in the yard. Going upstairs, she saw through the transparent glass the man sitting in a wheelchair, his hair completely white.

Howard Seymour’s age should be around forty, yet his hair was all white, as if he had lived through many painful experiences.

Hearing footsteps outside, Howard Seymour turned to look. When he saw Melody Thorne, his expression didn’t change, but his eyes, which hid many stories, revealed his excitement upon seeing her.

Melody Thorne walked past the glass, looking directly at the man before her, her mind replaying the voice from the tape recorder, and how happy Howard Seymour was to have her as a daughter.

"Dad," Melody Thorne walked over and half-knelt, speaking out,

Howard Seymour’s hand gripping the wheelchair’s armrest trembled violently, then slowly moved to Melody Thorne’s face, his voice trembling, "I haven’t seen you for twenty years, and now you’ve grown up."

"Yes, I’ve grown up," Melody Thorne spoke, holding back the emotions in her chest. "I’ve grown up and came to Crestfall, found the recordings you left. I always thought you were dead, and now I’m very happy to see you."
